Blitz the gas expanding is an upgrade you get much later in the game. It is done by closing a valve inside a natural gas pocket, as long as the pipe going into the gas pocket has magma heat.
GG. When you put a rig down, drop a short pipe down first. Then make all connections to the end of that pipe. That way you can close the short pipe at the rig and have gas and oil flow between the connections.

The purpose was to see if it was valuable as sour crude would ruin processing equipment early on with its sulfur content making it worthless until new tech was developed
