The jazzy interpretation, the sweet runs he does in the beginning, the beautiful reharmonization of the chords, and then to top it off I was not expecting a voice that rich. Absolutely incredible version.
This brought tears to my eyes.... not since SRV has someone brought such soul and passion to this song. This right here is another great that is standing on Hendrix's shoulders. Long live Eric Gales!

I normally don't like anyone doing any of Jimi's versions, but this guy takes it and runs with it. Jimi was wanting to go in the direction of a more jazz approach before he died. I think he'd like this. There's several Hendrix tribute artists out there, but this guy is his own persona. Good going!

@@DBlairMusic Oh, I totally agree with you!! He is influenced by Jimi and if Jimi were around today he would be absolutely thrilled with him and what direction he has gone with his music. It was so hard for Jimi to do his own thing as people and management had him blocked into his old stage antics and note by note stuff. He wanted so badly to go this direction where he could be free with his music and style. Peer would be completely correct. No way would I ever imply Gales was any type of impersonator. :-)

A guitarist is NOTHING without the best bass and drum players-- and specifically those two accompanists. Why do you think John Mayer, Joe Pass, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, Clapton were so adamant about who they play with in their core. If the rhythm section can't follow the performance is garbage.
@@theguitarsosa When guitarist Peter Green formed a band, he named it after who he wanted the drummer and bass player to be, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. McVie was in another band at the time too.
His ability to bend the melody to any song , is unlike any other guitar I've seen. He takes a lot of chances and seems to always land on his feet.

imo, he's almost on the level of a myles davis. he could record a new album at each show with the same songs and no two versions would be the same. he is a modern master.

Its a Rh guit played left handed. LH drummers adapt to RH drums too. And he is also an excellent player!

I grew up with my stepdad as a close friend of Eric’s since they were kids and I use to love watching Eric just jam on an acoustic guitar back in the day just sitting around the living room as a kid.
Eric Gales is naturally right-handed, but he plays left-handed, even though the guitar he's using is right-handed and turned upside-down... Eric Gales is the Leonardo DaVinci of electric guitar.
My buddy that past away played the same way and was awesome. He was also born with a disability and couldn't walk since he was a kid. R.I.P ram

Two weeks ago he went on the boards in Paks, and I was so lucky to listen to his concert. He's amazing. God bless him, and his guitar. Paks is little town in Hungary, but has a famous International Bluesfestival in every year. And we got the opportunity to know such a world star like him, Beth Hart, Josh Smith and so on. Come and see it next year, in July first week! :)
It's not just his incredible playing that gets me but also his range of truly beautiful sounds.

Randomly clicked on this song, while trying to click a different one. I dont regret a single moment, from the first second he started playing, I felt Jimi's pressence. I feel so ashamed that I haven't heard about him until today. What a legend. I can also hear some John Mayer in his solo.

Eric Gales is an American treasure to those who know and have heard him. A man who continues to grow and learn, who has an endearing hope and who plays guitar on a masterful level and with a style that is all his own. His rendition of this iconic song is proof of this.
To cover this song 50 years after its initial release, after being played and covered by probably a million people, and to not only do all of that but make it relevant and amazing… That is just something else. This shit floored me.

Eric is so talented. He totally takes a song like Little Wing that has been done 10 million times, but breathes something new into it each time. So creative and a clean player. Each note is so crystal clear. A true legend, and an underrated one at that.
I discovered Eric Gales a couple years back and have been blown away every time I listen to him. He is a TREASURE and a TRIUMPH!
His tone is so raw. No where to hide!!!!

Instead of a constant In-Your-Face lead, he takes us on avenues of expression, variety & rhythm. This guy should be a fave of worldwide arenas. LOVE the inverted guitar string style. I'm blown AWAY!

I've seen some of the very best in 50 years and I did. Eric lifts me off the ground to a place I haven't been since Jimi. None of the others had the feel or touch Eric does. None came close. If the others have gone as high as the moon Eric travels the universe with the spirit of Hendrix. God bless him and his family.
