18 majors, 19 runner ups, thousands of tournaments, exhibitions, and business meetings which took him to the far corners of the earth, yet he always found a way to get home to be with his family for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and various kids’ events. For 20+ years he was the man to beat every time he teed it up. Still holds the record of playing in 146 majors in a row (1962 - 1998). Remained faithful to his family the entire time. GOAT

There is a very fine line between the debate of who the GOAT in golf is. Thing with this .. I think Tiger edges Jack. He brought the game to the coolness factor .. He made shots interesting with his mastery of the short game and made it a modern era sport. He may never win his 16th .. but his impact is already felt. Hes the greatest .. bar none

    • @c5back9

@@teemo3139 the fine line you referred to actually is a very wide gap. Woods had a far greater and more impactful Public Relations and Branding campaign, but that doesn’t make him the GOAT. As for shots hit and “disruption” to the game, you might not have been around to see what Jack did, but if you ever get to Columbus OH, go visit the Nicklaus museum snd see what true greatness looks like. TW is a good marketing guy and excellent player, Jack is the GOAT and was relevant every time he teed it up well into his middle 40s.

And to think, at La Costa C C in La Jolla, Ca., I was 16 yrs old standing 4 feet away from Jack while he was talking to the head pro after his Saturday round...just the 3 of us. After he and the pro had finished, he asked me, and I quote, "What can help you with, son.?" My reply, "Nothing, Mr. Nicklaus, I just wanted to congratulate you on a nice round." He said thank you and we went our separate ways. Not a "Can I have your autograph.", not a handshake, nothing but a simple compliment. I don't know why it went that way, maybe I was in too much awe standing there next to, til this day, the greatest sports hero in my life.

Jack Nicklaus is golf's greatest champion. 18 Majors, 6 Masters, and 19 2nd place finishes in the Majors. Tiger has a total of "6" 2nd place finishes in the majors. My Dad and I were at St Andrew's that year for the last practice day. After seeing Jack on 10th, we headed for the mens room. Guess who followed us in . So there's just the 3 of us attending to a call of nature in a men's room little bigger than 2 garden sheds. Exchanged pleasantries and best wishes for the week later, then off we went. A true surreal moment. Dad, a golf nut (as am I) dined out on that one for the rest of his days. Thanks for the memories Jack.

And just look at Barbara! Watch his feet as he sets up for the final putt. He always said putting was about FEEL -- and we see here, it's not just the hands, but the feet. My lord, what a beautiful moment for a great champion, and most importantly, a great man.
You know, knowing this was his final goodbye to the game of golf, Mr. Nicklaus could have been selfish. He could have stood on that foot bridge for the final time, made it about himself, and NOBODY would have given it a second thought. Hell, you could tell Tom Watson wanted ZERO part in standing up there with Jack, because he knew it was HIS moment, and Tom knew Jack deserved ALL the applause for being the great golfer and sportsman he was.
But that wasnt Jack, and he went out of his way to share that moment not only with his son, and the caddies, but one of his greatest competitors and friends as well. That says it all about Mr. Nicklaus.
A great champion, but an even better person. I love you Jack. Youll always be one of my heroes, and it was such an honor to watch you play the game of golf.
