    Keep those r's rolled!!! Well done, all of you. I appreciate the knowledgeable, thoughtful, logical banter. I fear the more I come to know about the show, the more concerned I find myself becoming, but ever full of hope. I certainly look forward to hearing your several perspectives about the impending films.

    i'm half way through the Silmarillion, and have lost a lost of respect for the Elves

      haha I can understand totally that. At least for some Elves ^^

      HA!!! Keep reading, friend. Keep reading. (I must confess that I can never forgive one elf in particular).

    I missed your stream 😭😭😭didn’t even get the notification. Will watch today 🙂

      Yes the notifications are so inconsistent. Don't ask me why 😅 We did not do many viewer questions, and just talked about all kinds of topics. So I guess it works well as a VoD

      The closer this show is coming the bigger the knot in my stomach, I just know they will butcher Isildurs character. I am a bit of a purist, I love the movies very dearly but the older I get the character changes bother me more and more. Specially Aragorn and Faramir. The only good thing is it will be good for your channel.👍🏻

      I have to admit I don't feel much towards the series. I'm not hyped, but I'm also not worried. Just curious what they will do and what troubles we might see in some details and what their overall vision will be. I will still read in the books anyway. And I know they are good ^^
      I have to say my appreciation for the films never really dwindled over the years. Though ofc I'm aware of the many changes. For LotR at least i feel most makes sense in the context of a film adaption. Hobbit films are a difficult topic though 😅

    I think you could integrate the hobbits in quite easily. You would have a curious hobbit character that wanders off from their lands like Bilbo did and he would try find out information about the various other races, he or she would stay hidden best they can but still find the outside world fascinating. You could even hear plot points and exposition from the hobbits point of view. The curious hobbit could tell the other hobbits his adventures and they don't want to hear it or believe it, they say he or she shouldn't be bothering with the big folk and it's best to stay hidden etc... I think it could work. He or she could even suggest the hobbits connection to the rohirrim because he or she hears the rohirrim talking and recognizes similarities in their speech. No other hobbits believe his or her theories about their connection etc... I think there is a lot of potential with the hobbits, they just have to stay hidden mostly and have very little interaction with the other races, especially elves and Numernorians.

    This was fun, even if I came woefully unprepared due to knowing next to nothing about the TV show. Hope I get an invite back :D !

      haha don't worry. I think we also don't know that much about the show in general and we also talked a lot about lore stuff, which is imo also more interesting. Was nice having you on the show. Sorry again for keeping you away from you dinner 😅

      Yes I always have a small snack on my desk while streaming just in case 😅 My streams tend to go longer that expected - almost always. But I also didn't eat anything during stream I think, but luckily I ate before. I guess next time you are prepared 😂

      it's an interesting point in the story ad spices it up a lot, though ofc it was terrible for the characters.

    Bit of an off topic question, but do you have any content covering the nameless things living under middle earth that were mentioned in the fellowship of the ring? Seems like an interesting topic but there isn't a lot of info on it out there

    • @ThePhilosophersGames
      @ThePhilosophersGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes very little info, but I have not made a dedicated video yet. I know my colleague Geekzone made a video a year ago: th-cam.com/video/lBjypmueZUI/w-d-xo.html
      and also Red Book's video is up too: th-cam.com/video/DJQPRPrv7GE/w-d-xo.html
      Could take some time for me top cover this topic. I think I mentioned them soemwhere already, but can't remember where.

    Honestly some of the lor I believe would take more money than a TV show could actually afford to actually make them good and accurate. So isildur makes alot of sense 🤔.

    QUestion: how true are the Rohirrim as men of Numenor?

    • @ThePhilosophersGames
      @ThePhilosophersGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      don't fully understand the question. You mean if the relationship between the Rohirrim and Númenor was good/faithful/true? Technically they never met, because Rohan was founded Third Age, while Númenor was destroyed at the end of the Second Age. However their ancestors (Northmen) met the Númenóreans and saw them as some kind of "gods" initially. And later they had a good relationship with Gondor (Dúnedain in Exile). Rohan was founded on the oath to help each other and Gondor gifted them the land that became Rohan.

    The series has way too many disparate peoples for one season. There was a leak about a Dwarf King who survives a tunnel collapse. There was a leak about Kari and her child and village fighting off an orc raid. There was a leak about Galadriel climbing a high, steep mountain. There was a leak about a Numenorian Queen's Throne Room. There was a rumor about the Blue Wizards appearing. One actor looks a lot like Hugo Weaving so he must be Elrond. Add all that to Hobbits and Isildur, who was not alive when Tar-Ancalime and Tar-Telperion were ruling queens, and you have the makings of a perfect dumpster fire. It is impossible for all these leaks and rumors to be true.

    • @ThePhilosophersGames
      @ThePhilosophersGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the rumours we have are very contradicting. I assume when it comes to the ruling queen it could be Tar-Míriel, who was the actual heiress to the throne, but Ar-Pharazôn usurped the throne. She was around during Isildur's lifetime.

    • @Enerdhil
      @Enerdhil 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThePhilosophersGames
      But if Tar-Miriel ever ruled over Numenor, it was for less than a year because Ar-Pharazon seized the Sceptre in the same year that Tar-Palantir died. Would Amazon go through the trouble of making a Queen's throne room just to have Ar-Pharazon come in and grab the Sceptre from her hand than take her to a back room and rape her? Hopefully they just skip her entirely. That whole scene is a mess and not fit for family primetime viewing.

    think the dunedain will be portrayed as inherently weak?

    • @ThePhilosophersGames
      @ThePhilosophersGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be strange, because Númenor was one of the most powerful realms that ever existed. In early drafts they even had air ships, potentially some form of engine for their ships and guns, but Tolkien distanced himself again from that idea so it never became a thing in the books. But they should be pretty powerful.
