- How to judge Mahadasha in Vedic astrology. It can get complicated, so in this series I hope to give clear steps.
Part 1 Judgement from Rising sign. (all signs given)
VERY important technique. Check in all charts , esp Birth chart and Moon chart with this technique before you even consider strength of house and sign placement of Mahdasha Lord!
However strength of planet is given judgement in the individual planet readings by rising sign on this video where necessary.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. It’s nicely compiled. Also do you mean if by sun and moon sign the dasha is favourable but by ascendant it’s unfavourable what do we infer out of it. For example Saturn Mahadasha is Malefic for Sagittarius ascendant but favourable for taurus sun and moon sign for same person. What does it mean

I'm Libra ascendant and thanks goodness all difficult mahadashas that you mentioned are far-away from me they're coming when I'm in my 80 till 90. I'm running Venus Jupiter Mahadasha as a Gemini rising .
You are right up till now effects have been mixed ; I have been teaching and dealing with children during first 10 years oof this Mahadasha .
Will I start dealing with foreign affairs soon ? traveling abroad for business purpose and even relocating abroad far away from my natal country ?

So would mercury and venus dasha would still be malefic in this case?
And also she is running saturn mahadasha rn. Considering venus is in 1st house and exalts saturn, would saturn still deem to be malefic in this case?
So each divisional chart has a mahadasha. Do you use these, or do you just apply the main D1 chart to all Mahadashas? Because I've noticed that divisional Mahadashas are accurate.

I am taurus rising sign,with Saturn mahadasa at birth and first 8 years. So I missed the yogakaraka effects of Saturn mahadasa. Now I am in moon mahadasa till 2024. So far,just so,so. In natal chart,I have moon in cancer with exalted Jupiter(in cancer). My siblings have been problematic (always).

Small question here, I have Venus in my 7th house at 29:21 in my natal chart in the sign aqurius, and in my navamsha chart it’s place in 8th 24:09degree in the sign Gemini, Venus in the D60 chart in the 3 house 21:02 in the sign sag... and Venus in the 8house 23:30 in the D10 chart with mars 5:28 ...would this placement be unfavorable throughout-the 20yrs for I don’t understand degree too well and I’m new to Vedic astrology ? You need to also check on the isthabala and kastabala points of the planet for the mahadasha period. That would determine the period of the house.
Hello Gina, very nice & informative, I watch all your videos. I did want to ask you about Merc being a difficult MD for Leo Rising. Merc is an Adi Mitar (very friendly) graha with Sun and being lord of 2/11, this single graha is lord of both houses of wealth so becomes a wealth generator for this sign. I accept Virgo (2) is Mooltrikona for Merc and may bring some family/business difficulties but overall these could be overcome due to natural radiance/leadership of sun . You stressed good business when Jupiter is lord of 2/11 for Aquarius, does Merc not behave in the same way for Leo?
Raminder Bhurji Hi always check MD Lord from Lagna, from Moon and Sun also ...only in this way do you get true picture ! But overall mercury is not the.most difficult for Leo ! I would put Saturn as topmost difficulty..

Hello there, I have a question related with Libra rising. One of my siblings has this rising and during her venus dasha, in particular when it began venus-mars all her career fall apart, legal problems, financially etc etc. Such problems are still, Venus dasha will finish until November 2022. Where is the clue? Mars is in her 1st house in the nakshatras of swati. It come up to me this question because you mentioned that for libra ascendent the venus dasha will be all good, and on her case is the opposite. All the best!!
I would like to ask your opinion on Champaka Nadiamsa, Deva Keralam states that a planet in Sagittarius --- Moon in Sagittarius with a Dhanurasige planet , do you think it could also mean if Mars in Cancer parallel to Gemini? and then opposition to those degrees, the parallel to Capricorn from Sagittarius is then also activated, we have Saturn moving towards this trigger at the moment, the chain reaction is very difficult for 4 Houses and their rulers. Cancer lagna Venus conjoins chandra-mangala yoga 11. Saturn throws 10th aspect delayed but not denied gains. D9 Venus (Amk) and Budda (AK Lord 1/10) in dharmakarmaadipati yoga. So Venus has grown in providing blessings re devotion to love, service and work. This flourished in Guru maha dasa and D9 nakshatra lord Punarvasu. Had miracle child during Guru-Shani Dasa and non stop higher education during entire Guru dasa. Became acupuncturist and massage therapist to help people heal while dealing w my own illnesses but Guru turned them into learning to help others.

Cancer rising here! Mercury mahadasha was bad like Gina said. However as my Mercury is in it's own sign, it seems to have helped me to move abroad and settle down in a foreign country during my Mercury-Mercury period :)
Does this mean these are also favorable/difficult antardashas within the mahadashas?
I'm a cancer and I'm in Saturn mahadahsa right now and I ll be in this mahadahsa till 2034 (I resonate a lot with the video about this mahadasha)and after that it's mercury mahadasha seems like there is no lucky or normal year for me what should I do is there any remedy for that?

I am Virgo Asc., my Me sits with Venus in 5th, their ruler Saturn exalted in 2nd. In Sun Period I was very lonely, I was child that time, my parents were always busy, I was along all day long, I wanted to cry constantly. Very lack of friends.
Moon was so-so, more friends, more enjoinments, but constant feeling that no money to spend ( I was 14-16 year old that time).
Mars was my best period ever, I was blessed wit lots of friends, money, property, traveling and brand new car from a salon.
Mars is second strong planet in my chart, sits in 6th.
Now I am on Rahu Mahadasha, Mercury ruler , Rahu sits in 10th. In Ra-Ve and Ra-Su I lost lots of money.
Expecting in a couple of years Jupiter Maha, I have it a bit weak in 3rd house in Scorpio 🤷🏻♀️
Mam, I do not understand, my Saturn in Libera in 2nd is the most strong planet in my chart ,I have SadeSati now ( Moon and Sun in Sagittarius), I have Rahu period , last 8 years, I am suffering from everything around , the only health seems to be okey. When you move far away from your birth location and your whole natal chart changes.. do you look at the dasha for the new ascendant lord or do you stick with what is on your natal chart?
Your birth chart is a snapshot of the place, time and date of birth. So even if you go to outer space, it still persists.
What if Scorpio Rising has Mercury 7 degree and Venus zero degree, will those Dashas be still Malefic?
Is the Mahadasha Lord the Lord of the sign that the Mahadasha planet is sitting in? Example Mars Mahadasha with Mars sitting in Capricorn, Lord of Mahadasha here is Saturn?
Are Antardashas similar in their behaviors in relation to your Mahadashas?
I am very regular on your videos Gina. But I have a point as my Venus dasha is just getting over with Aries asc. I got a lot of prosperity in this Mahadasha though I had to work hard for it.
My perspective is about the strength of the planet. Is the planet is weak he won’t be able to give powerful results in his dasha.
Not only the strength of the planet, but also the ruler of the NAKSHATRA that any planet is in. :) Nakshatra rulers are so important, and one of the MAJOR things that differentiates our own astrology from western astrology.

What does Man refer to in the D charts?
Gemini rising in D1 and Libra rising in D9 but I have Pisces rising in Moon chart and currently undergoing Venus dasha - it hs good aspects but has also been really challenging.
My friend Leo Acs in Sun Mahadasha was sent to prison, had taken heavy drugs most of Sun period and lost father. His Sun sits in 2nd. In Moon Mahadasha he lost his mother who was was his last relative in general. Yes he gain some property in Moon Mahadasha and in general financial position got better , but again all period was on drugs , not so heavy that time. Now he just started being on Mars Mahadasha, will see.

Scorpio ascendant, but got wrecked by my Ketu mahadasha. Lost everything of material value in my life. Ketu is in my 8th house so I guess that contributed too. Mercury dasha was actually decent for me though, so I'm hoping Venus is not that bad.

One technique is Asc Lord friend/enemy relationship affecting dasa but simultaneously even and odd dasa period if contradict each other them ?
Example :
For Scorpio rising Mercury dasa is tough but what if it is 4 th dasa period then whether it will be good or challenging ????
Debendra Puri It is always a question of checks and balances when you analyse MD... fourth - it gives stability but when challenging for ascendant lord there will be obstacles.

I'm aquarius ascendant and my Mars dasha was good for me, but my Mars is with Saturn in 9th house, and Mars is old so maybe that's why.
Would like to tell you I am a taurus rising sign and what i have in my life now all is just bcuz of jupiter mahadasha…..i jumped from 13k per month to 1.5 lakh per month just bcuz jupiter mahadasha it’s not bad always i am more mature and intellectual i can say whatever i have in life all thanks goes to jupiter mahadasha 🙏🏻

A hooligan and extortionist woman falsely sued me for molestation in April 2016. Litigation going on.
Saturn mahadasha starting in May 2023. What will be the result of saturn mahadasha? Will I get the acquittal? Well actually both the judges know that I am innocent but the complainant woman is absconding that's why the case has got stuck in the procedural aspect. With the charges on me I can't even get work visa as a writer for other countries. With my placements do you think I will be exonerated from the case?

Ah we poor Virgos seem to have it tough. Only 2 good dashas Venus and Mercury. I was too young during my Venus Dasha to do much with it as I had gone through most of the Dasha before graduating school- and won't get to see Mercury Dasha until age 103. By then I'll be too blind and senile to enjoy it anyway. :D

I couldn’t help but giggle , nearly same here with placements , life’s been very difficult , started studying the stars for answers , then found Vedic , with 25 percent free will , I’ve been learning to Control thoughts , it truly helps me get through all the terrible things , sometimes I wonder why ? Then After learned Karma and KNOWING your a spiritual light body in natural and we are wearing a body suit of flesh , there is no death , our body suit just gets worn out and we change into something lighter at our exit point , I have actually had A NDE, I manage very well now with Thought Control, YOU GOT THIS!
For cancer ascendant Mercury dasha is not good because he is 12th and 3rd lord. 3rd house is 12th to 4th house.
I really can't say that Moon Dasha is good for Gemini. I was so broke and alone, couldn't get a job... Only a year and a half and it's over. But then Mars Dasha starts that should be difficult... How lovely. 🙄

Am enjoying these videos but honestly with all these thousands of conditions and interdependencies, astrology stops being a useful tool because chances are there will always be a negative aspect somewhere (birth chart, moon chart, any D-chart) or conflicting lords or signs...
I admire the vastness of knowledge but it seems not very practical and a bit “overcooked”- like analysis to death- if you continue analyzing and comparing hundreds indicators you will always find something to confirm whatever the situation at hand...

My whole life has been 2 years of Mercury dasha, 6 years of ketu dasha (Venus and ketu are conjunct exactly in my chart) then 20 years of Venus dasha....
