Zeiss Planar 50mm f/1.4 : Disassembly and Oily Diaphragm cleaning : Lens repair

Hello Friends,
Today I share with you how to service a lens with stellar performance, that is the Zeiss planar 50mm f/1.4. This is a lens originally made for the contax system but that it's irrelevant these days as adaptors can be found easily everywhere. I use it myself on a Nikon Z camera.

Hi, I lost the aperture bearing ball and spring during the disassembly. Do you have the dimensions for the spring and the bearing ball? Thanks in advance

That's bad luck :( I don't have the lens anymore, so I cannot tell you the dimensions. You can measure the hole and take a smaller size for the spring, and for the ball, you can revocer one from a pen. Cheers.

thanks. my aperture ring no longer changes the f stop. it's just permanently on 1.4. i can spin the apeture ring but it's not linked to the blades anymore

Probably the mechanical connection jumped out, or maybe it is oil on the blades, which seems to be a common issue with this lens. If you follow the tutorial you can most probably fix the issue. Cheers.
