What's funny is those were actually some of the weaker weapons that were developed. The Tzar Bomba, Test 219, Test 147, Test 173, and Castle Bravo being the most powerful, in that order.
Tzar Bomba was purposefully decreased in power due to fear that it would prove fatal for the planet, so the scientists and engineers colluded together without the USSR knowing to decrease the power.

If I recall correctly, the estimates on how many *allied* causalities to just secure a *beachhead* on Japan were at 2,000,000 (side note: the US had already ordered enough Purple Heart medals to cover all of the casualties of the Japan invasion by the time the nukes were deployed, and we still haven't used all of them up to this day) and the general thinking was that if ground forces were used to invade, the Japanese people (military and civilian) would fight to the absolute last. In other words, if the US landed forces on Japan during WW2, the only way peace would have been able to be secured is if the Japanese people were genocided (and not by the choice of the soldiers and Marines on the ground), given that school-aged children were being issued rifles and classes on how to kill soldiers with spears. As horrible as the use of nukes were, they truly were the lesser of the two evils available at the time. The fact that I've met people who were shocked by this revelation makes me weep for the state of education in the US (don't know if people outside the US get taught what the other option for ending WW2 was, but apparently in the US, it's not mentioned at all).

Regarding the killing to avoid more killing, if I remember correctly, the projected casualties of an invasion of the Japanese mainland was over 10 million soldiers and civilians. 200k instead of 10m+? Honestly, there’s nothing more satisfying to me on Gacha than seeing massive egotistical and evil characters realize their not all powerful and are on their knees questioning existence. Zorzal is an example. He realizes in this video that he is weak and pathetic compared to many others and is desperately relying on Tyuule to give him advice. Seriously though, even if Japan did commit many war crimes and atrocities during WW2, the civilians didn’t deserve the deaths they got. Imagine the last thing you see is a blinding light and yours ears are ruptured by a high ringing sound (That’s the bomb having landed on the ground and detonated) and you look up to see a massive cloud of flame engulfing the entire sky. The shockwave finally comes and it instantly kills you. The death may have been quick but the last few moments were terrifying. The people who survived the rest were exposed to radiation and are slowly dying, some even deformed. Guess there’s really no such thing as good nor evil when it comes to war because both sides are no better than the other.
Would you make them react to some song by Civil War? Their members were former members of Sabaton and they have similar themes, Iwo Jima would be perfect.

What's funny is those were actually some of the weaker weapons that were developed. The Tzar Bomba, Test 219, Test 147, Test 173, and Castle Bravo being the most powerful, in that order.
Tzar Bomba was purposefully decreased in power due to fear that it would prove fatal for the planet, so the scientists and engineers colluded together without the USSR knowing to decrease the power.

If I recall correctly, the estimates on how many *allied* causalities to just secure a *beachhead* on Japan were at 2,000,000 (side note: the US had already ordered enough Purple Heart medals to cover all of the casualties of the Japan invasion by the time the nukes were deployed, and we still haven't used all of them up to this day) and the general thinking was that if ground forces were used to invade, the Japanese people (military and civilian) would fight to the absolute last. In other words, if the US landed forces on Japan during WW2, the only way peace would have been able to be secured is if the Japanese people were genocided (and not by the choice of the soldiers and Marines on the ground), given that school-aged children were being issued rifles and classes on how to kill soldiers with spears. As horrible as the use of nukes were, they truly were the lesser of the two evils available at the time.
The fact that I've met people who were shocked by this revelation makes me weep for the state of education in the US (don't know if people outside the US get taught what the other option for ending WW2 was, but apparently in the US, it's not mentioned at all).
Pretty much the same reaction I see on people who read about Operation Coronet on Wikipedia here in the Philippines. I remember a girl pal of mine and her look of shock when she saw the numbers involved. My history professor, who was printing some documents at the Internet cafe where we were at the time said, "If the scenario of Operation Coronet would play out, the only surviving Japanese were the few that had the brains to stay out of the fighting and hide in the hills, and the Japanese Americans on those concentration camps on the US West Coast or were lucky to leave in the East Coast".

Honestly, there’s nothing more satisfying to me on Gacha than seeing massive egotistical and evil characters realize their not all powerful and are on their knees questioning existence. Zorzal is an example. He realizes in this video that he is weak and pathetic compared to many others and is desperately relying on Tyuule to give him advice.
Seriously though, even if Japan did commit many war crimes and atrocities during WW2, the civilians didn’t deserve the deaths they got. Imagine the last thing you see is a blinding light and yours ears are ruptured by a high ringing sound (That’s the bomb having landed on the ground and detonated) and you look up to see a massive cloud of flame engulfing the entire sky. The shockwave finally comes and it instantly kills you. The death may have been quick but the last few moments were terrifying. The people who survived the rest were exposed to radiation and are slowly dying, some even deformed.
Guess there’s really no such thing as good nor evil when it comes to war because both sides are no better than the other.
