As some others have said, you need to change the carrier aircraft type to bombers and then you will start being able to damage and kill units. Rigjt noe its just fighters attacking the land units

There is nothing like taking a break from game development and watching Historical gaming. Thanks for the great content.

You probably have the strength to try and go for the Japanese fleet! Or at least the screening force you detected not long ago. But you may win in China before you retake the Philippines! Loving this playthrough so far!

I think you should consider sending some MTBs up to Port Morseby to keep a weather-eye out for Japanese barge traffic.😉
I agree with your PNzGrl comment. My first thought on episode 1 of this series was WitP meets PZG1.

Leaving the Solomons unchallenged leaves the shipping lanes usanzacs unprotected. If the computer AI doesn't respond though, you are golden. Against a human opponent, the situation is dangerous.

You could also move some US fighters to that US zone in China, which would help with air cover. I don't think you're allowed to move into India as would be really helpful

think you're learning why in real history, the U.S. didn't invade Tarawa until November, 1943. And it was still a bloddy affair.

RoC troops liberated Hong Kong would bring tricky political problems.

The reason you are seeing the AI messages is because of a setting in Options. Not sure why it defaulted to that option tho.

.....after all these years of SC playthroughs, you're still abuising/misusing the most important units in the Strategic Command serires-> HQ;s
Oh and to jump on the bandwagon:Fleet Carriers, and Escort Carriers, have different mode settings for CAP and more to the point.setting for strikes.
You can launch strikes with just fighters (the default setting) ,which have a less than 0% chance against ground & naval units - it's meant to trigger interceptors /air v air.
    >You can switch strikes to all bombers< Good for ground and naval strikes.
If your target has air covers, switch to "mix". Your strike will be a mix of fighters & bombers, does less dmg but...
(Carriers have had these modes since WiE/ )
