Mahalo Nolan for presenting this. Mahalo to Kimo for setting it down. I have always felt that Hokule'a was one of the most important contributions to world history. When she sailed under the
Golden Gate Bridge it was just amazing. My kupuna hula sisters went and threw flowers off the bridge (illegal, of course). The tall ships were out in full sail and many dancers were on platforms
on outriggers dancing as she came through the Gate. Thousands of Polynesians were out to welcome her. It was outstanding. I've also seen her sailing up and down the Kona coast during the
reuniting of the two chiefdoms at Pu'ukohala Heiau. Seeing those red ctabclaw sails against the ocean and the coastline was extremely moving. The Malama Honua was such a life changing
voyage for peace and caring I was surprised there was so little written about it. But for the maritime community it was inspirational. Scandinavians and Canadan Natives started building cones and took new voyages to trace their ancestors maritime travels. I hope to read this very soon. Oakland CA 2023
