    Still rocking the focus mk1 hatchback 5doors 1.8L TDDI. I’m in love with it. I’m basically starting to replace almost everything now with new parts, it runs still smooth a part from some internal vibration (center console, dash, glovebox and the driver door, the first 2 were messed with a lot). Other than that, with new oils and filters it runs very well for being 19yo.

      how many kms or miles? I have a 2009 ford focus se besides rust its fine! Put 1000$ in it! It has 66270 km and that is 41178.269 miles! Lots of life left! Just the rust might kill the car first!

The only things I had to replace were the alternator, idler pulley, spark plugs, front wheel bearings, and a brake line. Also had an exhaust leak. I've put over 80,000 miles on it. I am from uk and i have 2003 focus st170. Before i had a 2ltr ghia. Much love for for the mk1, when i upgrade i will go go for the mk1 rs turbo. Love these cars. Not much that can go wrong that you cant fix yourself. Look after them ie regular oil/filter changes keeping fluid levels topped up and they will pretty much go forever.

    • @N33sWorkshop
      @N33sWorkshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh no no no, no RS. It's fast but it's stripped down and is wider. Defeats the purpose of a easily fixable car. Also I do like my heated windshield, heated seats and trip computer. Also I do like having a coolant temp gauge on my car :D (The RS has a boost gauge instead of the coolant temp gauge).

    I have a mk1 focus face lift. Its a 2003 1.6 zetec. It has 137k miles on it and still runs like a trooper! As the mk1 focus is my favourite car, I have it slated to become my next restoration project.. (once my 1990 celica is done). I've got new sills to weld on, all new suspension, drop links, control arms, brakes, ect. Basically anything that I can buy new I have bought new for the car. I've spent 2.5k on parts alone for it over the past year or so 😬. But once the car is finished it will be an absolute minter. Im planning a full engine/glass out respray. Both inside and out will be resprayed. Im really looking forward to starting on it!

    2003 focus se wagon zetec 2.0: Well, theres the motor mounts that keep giving out, the alternator replacements that require undoing the motor mounts and shifting the engine to get clearance, the thermostat housing thats plastic and guarenteed to crack and strand you, the battery to starter cable that goes up in smoke, the rear wheel bearings in the brake hubs that go south all the time, the squealing rear drums, thepower steering leaks from the line,the power window lifters that go bad, the cam sensors that fail,the heater hoses that blow in the middle of nowhere,the oil leaks around the oil pan,the rear suspension trailing arm that decides to snap in half so ur rear wheel almost falls off,the cracks in the exhaust mnanifold and lastly the leaky flexpipe..I might have left some things out but these were for Real, maintaince /problem areas over the last 200k mi of ownership..we got it with 150k and put the rest on the car.. it now has 350k, engine never rebuilt and it drives incredibly well but was Not without issues.

      Another fun fact, old diesels had the clocks from the gas models because only after facelift they made diesel clocks. Legend said the engineers thought it's good enough.

      @@N33sWorkshop If someone tries to rev the diesel out to 7k is decidedly NOT good! Probably a bit hard on the petrol version too actually. It's not like they even put a lower red line on the diesel version which they could have just stuck on top of the clocks.

      You can’t rev the diesel up to 7000 😆
      It has soft cut around 4600-4800 RPM.
      It’s like a room thermometer that has -20/50C.
      It’s very unlikely that you’ll have 50C in your room.

      Well, theres the motor mounts that keep giving out, the alternator replacements that require undoing the motor mounts and shifting the engine to get clearance, the thermostat housing thats plastic and guarenteed to crack and strand you, the battery to starter cable that goes up in smoke, the rear wheel bearings in the brake hubs that go south all the time, the squealing rear drums, thepower steering leaks from the line,the power window lifters that go bad, the cam sensors that fail,the heater hoses that blow in the middle of nowhere,the oil leaks around the oil pan,the rear suspension trailing arm that decides to snap in half so ur rear wheel almost falls off,the cracks in the exhaust mnanifold and lastly the leaky flexpipe..I might have left some things out but these were for Real, maintaince /problem areas over the last 200k mi of ownership..we got it with 150k and put the rest on the car.. it now has 350k, engine never rebuilt and it drives incredibly well but was Not without issues.
