I just love it when watching a reactor and they "get it" when listening to Angelina Jordan. I'm in my 60s and have had a love for music, all music, all my life, and I've never heard an artist as good as Angelina. I wont be around to see it but I've got a feeling when everything's said and done Angelina is going to be considered one of the greatest vocalists of all time.
Hey Jimmy Richard, I have to tell you something, out of all of the reaction channels and comments that I read ever since reaction channels begun; let tell you that I'm sure there have been well over 1000+ comments & that might be on the low side. Of course I've given my share of comments as well. This is the very first time that I've read a comment such as yours, meaning that that you more than just enjoy music, but if I'm reading you right, you love, understand, and listen to not only the way an artist sings, but also how they sing, listen to the instrumental parts too. I think you actually absorb every aspect of the entire song and sound. I guess what I'm saying is I thought I was the only human that loves music so much, I appreciate what music has always brought to my life. There's hardly a day that goes by that some form of music is playing. When there isn't any music, I'm either singing, humming, or whistling 🎼🎼🎼. When I was younger I'd hear music my mom and dad listened too, but being so young I just didn't grasp the concept of what it actually meant. I was 8 yrs old, and I had this little portable 45 record player, and my mom bought me lots of records. One particular day while in my room I was listening to this song, I was sitting on my bed and after the song ended, I found myself crying and very emotional. That was the day I discovered what music really meant! Since then, I've always had music around my life. I've tried so many times with so many friends and they just don't get it.🤔 I've also tried several different times to explain what music really is, and how it makes me feel while commenting on a particular song. Lady, the brass section are friends, she knew for a while. AJ´s nickname coined when she was 9 years old, is THE BOSS. She knew exactly what was going on and influenced it.
Because of her friendly and humble ways, most people underestimate her, but musicians in Scandinavia (and now in the world) know her uncanny ability in music. If AJ asks "shouldn´t we play that at a higher key?" You can bet your car on it, it´s better.

Just turned 17 today sounding like 30 or more ! Angelina is a seasoned veteran and a naturally confident singer who can perform live so effortlessly ! She is focused and knows how to feel each and every word she delivers to her audience ! Her strength as you will discover is her ability to tell a story through her vocals ! Yep. She’s been performing for big audiences now for a decade. And she’s always been involved. Not just doing the words. She arranges the songs the way she wants them. I think the first example [shown] is when she hands her ‘wishes’ to the ?conductor guy? in the B&W “I Put a Spell on You” video when she was nine. True prodigy!!
Please consider going back to the beginning with Angelina competing on Norway's Got Talent. There are four separate performances. Try to find the ones with the English subtitles to better understand the judges. She started the competition at age 7 and by the finish she had turned 8, I believe. You won't be disappointed.

This is such an incredibly beautiful performance and so much to love in it from the very start. The big blast at the end is an obvious highlight, but all along the way many beautiful things happen. Well - for Angelina's 1st 2 Norways Got Talent performances, she chose Billie Holliday songs: her audition was Gloomy Sunday & then she sang I'm A Fool To Want You (& it's uncanny how much she sounded like Billie - at the age of 7). Except for her first appearance on Norway’s Got Talent, when she looked a little uncomforable (probably performing in public for the first time) and then her first studio appearance of ‘I Who Have Nothing’, it seems as if this young woman (then 7 years old) fears no attention. In fact, during her first line in the Ben E King classic you can almost hear the hesitation. Then, when her voice starts to ring out at the end of the second line, viewers just KNOW she’s got it, she has conquered the world. I laughed when you gave that first shocked look of disbelief with your eyes, because I knew what was coming for you at the grand finale! Lol! Simply amazing and indescribable, isn't she? By the way, in your description of her as a child -- yes, indeed, she was. However, her reason for going barefooted in all of her performances that she's done since age 7 is anything but childish. Britt your comments were spot on. Reincarnation is the only way I can explain her. No child should be able to do this. Its way beyond her voice. Her command of the action and stage presence along with how easy she makes it look is normally from a singer or entertainer who has been doing this for many years. It's going to be exciting to see where she goes in her career. I'm retired and the last time I can remember a talent like this at such a young age was growing up in Philly and watching little Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five on the Mike Doughlas show. I knew Michael was going to be a superstar. I think AJ can become a superstar before her career is over.

AJ on home turf! One of, if not the best, jazz singers of all time even at this age (yes, I am biased but not without merit). Have heard a lot of versions of this song by some of the jazz greats and none does it better. She has performed this several times on camera and it evolves or just changes to fit the band and mood, but it is always HER version. Always superb.

I'm absolutely loving your reactions and commentaries Britt. Yes, for any singer to sing with a band is difficult. Angelina was singing with bands at 8 years old and has always been so comfortable doing it. She just instinctively knows how and it just seems to me that her acute awareness is partly god sent and a lot of listening and practicing her craft. Her stage presence is unbelievable. In this particular video, you missed her humble curtsey to the audience and her miraculous change from "performance" mode to that of a 10-year-old child.

Did you know she has several TH-cam Channels and is active on Social Media platforms? I post links to all of them at the end of this comment, and ask that you consider extending your support of Angelina by linking them in your Channel. I cannot stress enough how important it is to support not only Angelina, but "all" the artists you feature by posting links to their channels. By doing so, you not only help them, but it encourages those visiting your channel for the first time to return. In my own case, one of the first things which I do is to check whether the Reactor posts a link to the artist featured. For me, the minimum requirement is a link to the video featured. I feel certain that many fans of the artists featured follow the same path.
There are so many things I get from this performance.
(1) The realisation that at the age of 10 Angelina has shed all childishness from her voice.
(2) A feeling that the placement of the spotlight at the beginning of her performance was deliberate. If it was, then, to my mind, it was a brilliant move.
(3) The fact that Angelina arranged this song and that the band kept out of the way and let her voice be the focus.
(4) The incredible low note she sang for the word "good" at the beginning and end of the performance.
(5) That wonderful crescendo at the end.
(6) The was Angelina used her left arm and hand throughout the performance
(7) The way she changed the microphone from her right hand to left hand, so that she could flip her hair back with her right hand.
(8) The cheeky smile she gave to the cameraman when she realised he had focused on her at about 4.03 in your reaction video.
(9) The almost instantaneous switch from "performance" mode to that of a young child who,curseyed and gave a sweet smile to the audience as an acknowledgement of their applause.
Others have commented that the performance by Nina Simone should be considered the "gold" standard for this song. Until recently, I had never watched her performance, but have now done so. They just cannot be compared, for Angelina's arrangement is totally different

Thanks, Britt, for another fantastic reaction. The more I watch this performance, the more it impresses me. I really take your point about AJ's interaction with the band. When she ascends up the scale in the coda, she's actually directing the band with her left hand, so that the musicians understand her ad lib tempo exactly, and can anticipate her as she moves up the scale. All this in a live, broadcast performance. I just can't articulate how unreal that is for a 10-year-old. AJ's situational awareness is beyond comprehension.

I think Angelina was the musical director or leader even at 9 years old.. Whether in studio or live.. Certainly not "just" a singer.

It is recorded that at seven she was directing musicians by asking questions with the intent of getting them to do it her way. By eight she way demonstrating how she wanted it done. At nine she took charge an was affectionately given the title The Boss. There are videos for all of this showing her critiquing full orchestras. She has always chosen her music and from age eight arranging to her liking. By ten she is professional in all aspects including production. Far more than a singer. Prodigy does not describe. Genius falls short. How becomes the common thought. Maybe a clue is within her full name. Angelina Jordan Astar.

This is one of my favorite performances by Angelina. Throughout the song she is a completely focused professional, talented beyond her years. You talked about performing with a live band, but there was a live studio audience for a live TV show as well. Not even a whiff of nervousness from Angelina. Did you notice how she handled that closeup flyby with the camera? She looked directly into the camera and never lost a beat. But at the end, as the audience applauds, you get to see the little girl again. The smile and giggle, the curtsy, just a little girl who is happy and pleased.

Angelina must have practised that highlight part at the end of the song quite much because in the earlier version that wasn't nearly this good. Or then it was an intentional thing to sing the end part more mildly in the eariler version. I definately prefer myself this tougher version anyway. It's always fun to watch her hands when she is performing.. She is like drawing the song in the air..

Before you react to it, make sure all your teeth are firmly attached because you will be at serious risk of having them fall out. The video I recommend is the first video that introduced Angelina to the world. It was her first performance to go viral. This was her audition at age 7 on Norway's Got Talent (Norske Talenter). Angelina performed Gloomy Sunday in the style of Billie Holiday. Suggest playing it in its entirety because the talking parts add to the enjoyment. Every single thing she touched at age 10 is totally brilliant .. her voice settling right in. But this .. oh .. I must have seen it at least 50 times .. love love love it. That little smile at the end of the song shows the joy for her special ending for the song and perhaps even that she could see or feel that some people might be thinking she wouldn't make it .. but she made it indeed .. and full of joy.

AJ has said in interviews that she feels more comfortable singing than talking she said Singing is like breathing to her and she does not get nervous at all infront of 40,000 people or millions on live stream or sitting on her couch in front of her cellphone recording a new cover. She loves to perform, and had been since 7,, Her first studio recording was age 6,, and the first time with mic in her hand singing with her dolls was 18months

10 was a great age for Angelina's musical output. In addition to this appearance, she did a demo of a song written by an artist called Baby Fuzz, aka Brandon Lowry. It's called I'm Still Holding Out For You. It wasn't released at the time for unk reasons, but found itself on TH-cam a couple years later. Both Angelina's family and Baby Fuzz are cool with it.
