    I love the engineering Volvo put into the 200-900 series. They are among the best vehicles made.

      I have to agree. Built like a brick outhouse. Simple to service, and parts are largely available. Great mechanics car. Show them a little love and the Volvo will show it back. Nothing drives broken like a Volvo. I will have a 850 water pump and timing video up pretty soon.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.

    I've been contemplating this job for awhile. I love the fact it is not sanitised. The sock fell of and you had to retrieve it. Thanks for the demo, I feel confident I can do it now.

      Hell yes. I have just removed the tank pump from my 93 940 wagon. It was an epic struggle. Now I have to replace it and reinstall it. To get the assembly out of the tank it required the usual "rotate and withdraw" motion. At one point I actually moved the assembly back into the tank slightly to get clearance before finally completely removing it. I hope to video the reinstall process and demonstrate the manoeuvre. I have watched about a dozen videos on 240/740/940 tank pump removal no two are exactly alike. Every model has a different processes and even the same model have differences. The sock on mine has very small holes from wear but this can down grade the pumps function severely I am told.

    the seal has to be on the assembly w jelly & telescoping piece contracted w string to then slid down in& when you have properly in place cut it & pull string throughl& withdraw it..After doing this a few times & maybe best to drain the gas into gas can s & then drop the tank,,you can see if the straps are in good shape,,

      If I may add, you know it is in the correct position if after istallation the car is driven and when turning corners it does not stall out.

    Thanks for your video. I have a 1990 Volvo 760 GLE with the Peugeot V6 engine. I may tackle replacing the in-tank pump soon. I have looked at the Airtex pump. There are no identification symbols on the pump for + (plus) and - (minus). Did you have to deal with this, or was yours labeled, and what manufacturer did you use? Also, around the 34 minute spot of the video you mentioned, "that's the vapor valve, a solenoid controls the venting from the front...". Can you expand on this, I am wondering if my car has this solenoid. Finally, if the in-tank pump fails, do you know if the car will still start and run. And what symptoms will this create?

    thanks for the help !! i need to get some channel locks like that.. I have a question. Upon disconnecting the fuel line that feeds into the fuel rail atop the engine, once i crank the car (with it off) should it spew some fuel out, because it is not. Is this a sign of a bad fuel pump ? Bad relay ? (also, the fuel guage shows empty when I put 4 gallon into the tank. (BTW, its a 85 Volvo 940 w/ 94K) It was my moms car and has not started since 2014 - Can you help w/ why it wont pump fuel to the front of the car out thru the line that feeds into the fuel rail. Any help is appreciate ! thanks, PGarza

    Do you have the OEM-part number on the pump? How many litres of fuel does it deliver pr minute and at how many bars?
    I have to replace mine on my 940 with an B230FK engine and I can't seem to find the answer :/

    • @houseofbrokendobbsthings5537
      @houseofbrokendobbsthings5537  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry I don't have the OE number, or the pump specs. Is your setup single or dual pump configuration? If dual pumps, the in-tank pump is low pressure (lifts the fuel only) and the real work gets done by the external pump. If you are looking for a higher volume - consider a Walbro pump. You will have to adjust the fuel line plumbing a bit but there will be sufficient volume for all but the wildest configurations.

      @@houseofbrokendobbsthings5537 Hello Dan. Thank you for your reply. I run a dual-pump config. After doing some further investigation (with alot of swearing and fidgeting with the pump-assembly) I finally got the pump out. I found the OE-number and got the info I needed. :)
      I wasn't sure if the tank-pump was the issue which is why I didn't get it out sooner. I found out that biltema (The scandinavian walmart-equivalent) has the pump I need. :)
      Edit; The part number for the FK-turboengine models is "bosch 0 580 453 037" if anyone else wonders.

      Hi Meany thanks yeah what it keeps doing but not all time when you do about 20 miles is dropping the revs to about 100 and stalling at junctions or around about when engine gets warm it will start again no problems I was wondering if it might be a fuel relay have you any ideas cheers

    • @houseofbrokendobbsthings5537
      @houseofbrokendobbsthings5537  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jameshole6629 Morning. Hmm 🤔. All seems fine until pulling to a stop and intermittent rough low idle and it stalls? Good restart. A few things come to mind. Idle control sticky (electrical control to bypass the throttle blade to control idle speed), or throttle body gummed up and needs cleaning and base idle set. Vacuum leaks would tend not to be random. Could be fuel pressure but that likewise should show up anytime and especially under a load. My approach is to confirm the simplest first, and then move up in complexity. Usually it identifies the issue in most cases. If your engine uses an EGR valve you can disconnect (temporary) and see if the issue repeats. Carbon can gather at the valve port and cause a mystery internal vacuum leak you can’t hear. Canister purge could if everything lined up perfectly cause a raw fuel slugging (if the cannister has liquid fuel built up) into the intake - but a real longshot. Let me know what you find.
