    Very great review and it s a solid machine . I m glad you were totally honest about it . Other reviews just say that it s perfect. I m looking for a Lamarzocco but I don t really want to go plumbing. I m not 100% fixed but might go with the mini.

      The mini is great as well, we did just do a review on the Elektra verve, similar to the mini with a huge water tank and lower price. 👍🏻

    Great video and thanks for doing a follow-up review!
    I've had my GS3 for about two months now - and agree that the water usage that comes with pressure profiling is absolutely dreadful and wasteful. It is easily my #1 pain point with this machine. I hope that LM could somehow consider re-siphoning that water back into the tank, some time down the line. I don't use steam nor the hot tap ever - and making four espressos (including quick group head flushes in between) with pressure profiling applied basically empties the reservoir.
    Fortunately, I only make coffee for myself and means that I only have to fully re-fill the reservoir at the end of a day's session. 100% agree with the huge drip tray, if it was any smaller in volume, I think I'd be driven mad to drill a hole in my wall, find the nearest water pipe and plumb in the machine!
    Unfortunately, plumbing in isn't possible for me at the moment, and just have to deal with it. I've got mine decked out with a walnut kit and love everything else about the machine.

      Just a notes, you need to use your hot tap so you don’t get a build up in your boiler. Please watch out video on simple care for your coffee machine. th-cam.com/video/s8cQ9iYQSq4/w-d-xo.html

    I have had my GS3MP for 4 months. I plumbed mine in from day one and gladly I missed the water problem issue that you expressed your disdain for. I totally understand why. I agree there is a learning curve to using the paddle. About a month ago I found the point with the paddle where the 3 bar point is and going there quickly has reduced the flow of water dramatically. I would guess it's reduced it by 75%. I have a 5 gallon water catch bucket below and I would have to empty it every week. Now it takes three weeks to get it to the point of needing to be emptied. I use mine with either a Monolith Max or Monolith Dual burr conical. I have owned a lot of espresso machines but this one is my all time favorite. I still am learning to use the paddle but the drinks are extraordinary now. Thanks for your video. Well done.

    Thanks for the video, I've been using mine for about a week and I can relate to your praise and frustrations. It does go through a lot of water for a given shot. The IOT is nice, but could could go further in terms of information that it provides - hopefully they'll develop it more. I do think the instructions online/printed could also go into more depth about cleaning/maintenance, sometimes it tells you that "A" needs to be done to achieve "B" but doesn't actually explain how to achieve it! A lovely machine nonetheless with a great end result!

    Hi again Luke, I was wondering if you could share your daily or weekly maintenance routine with your GS3?
    After my last shot of the day (I'm the only user of the machine), I usually:
    1. Brush the shower screen/gasket ring
    2. Backflush machine
    3. Flush hot water tap until the pump kicks in to re-fill the boiler
    4. Wash drip tray/wipe down machine
    Every month or so, I'd remove and clean the shower screen and do a chemical backflush.
    Might seem a bit overkill, but I'm keen to have the machine in the best shape possible for a long time!
    On the hot water flushing... this tip I saw in your previous maintenance video from a commenter = of course we don't know what machine he was using, is this step necessary at all with the GS3?
    I'd love to hear from you on anything I could be adding into my routine!

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi jk. This is all great. Perhaps remove the top drip tray and wipe it down as you can get a few dead bugs in there over time. Clean under the machine to ensure you don’t have any mess for ants/cockroaches to feed off and go live inside your machine. A pest trap is a good idea under the machine. The sticky pads which you put a table on them. Filtered water is the best thing you can do the the inside of the machine. The hot tap flushing, I recommend this 💯 in my videos to help remove build up of minerals in the boiler. Monthly cleaning? I recommend each time you put a new bag of coffee in to chemical clean. That means your machine is clean for the new beans. I would remove the shower screen every time your chemical clean, it will help maintain the good flow of water. 👍🏻👍🏻

    Do you find the shot quality of the GS3 identical to the Linea mini?
    (Remember the water debit issue I mentioned the other day?)
    Gs3 has a 240mil/30 sec the mini 500mil/30sec.what do you reckon?

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, sorry I have not had time to look into the water debit of the machines. I do not taste any noticeable changes in Esprssso from the mini, gs3 or there commercial machines. The use the same pumps, solenoids, diameter of water pipes. The only variable is flow is a 6mm or 8mm restrictor in the brew head so I’m not sure how they can have such a variance in volume over time. If this is the case, for me it’s never been an issue.

    Thanks for the great review. I was deciding between the linea mini and the GS3 AV. My house mate has had the gs3 for 5 years and he's moving out and I really love how easy it is to play with the temperature, pre infusion times and most importantly the programming in the brew ratios to make consistent coffees whilst running out the door.
    Do you think the upgrade from the mini to gs3 AV is worth it if you don't use all the features every day and you don't get pressure profiling?

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The gs3 AV model is the one your flat mate has. These are all the features that a mini does not have. So if you like these features spend the $! Reach out if we can help you secure one if your in Australia! 👍🏻

    Hello,
    Have you ever experienced a problem (leakage) of the group head of La Marzocco GS3mp (the latest-conical paddle valve-version)? If you have, could you share with me some advise and tips to rebuild it by myself? My machine is only 1.5 years, and now the group head is dripping while its idle time, and the same time the brew pressure is dropping down to 4 bars within 20 minutes. And, where I could purchase a rebuilt kit for this group head?
    Thank you in advance.

  • @Fuuntag
    @Fuuntag 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Honestly the main reason you might get this over the Linea Mini is pressure profiling and the fact the paddle is just so not fit for purpose or not doing what it should be doing in regards to giving you reasonable control over this variable, that’s not good enough given the price difference and overall cost.

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, you have to consider the gs3 has been around for many years, it was one of the original variable pressure machines.

      @@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters understand, but it’s over 10k and they have had 14 years to make some slight tweaks to the paddle to resolve this. Don’t get me wrong, love love La Marzocco from a quality and culture perspective but they’re usually a bit better then this.

  • @johnt34aus
    @johnt34aus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Biggest annoyance is the way the machine uses springs (like in a torch)contacting plates on the water tank to determine water level. So many times it says refill tank when water is in fact full. Usually I have to give the drip tray a bump to re-engage the contacts. Periodically I pull & elongate these springs - not sure if its the right thing to do but it does work for a time. Mine is also the MP model and it does need refilling very often compared to a Mini which I also have thank goodness the tank is a good size.

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The spring is only the connection point to bridge the gap. Maybe you have a faulty switch. Bumping it would only make it connect or disconnect the circuit. But if the switch is faulty then it would be the issue

    • @johnt34aus
      @johnt34aus 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters It's just poor design and hopefully will be improved. The thing I like about the GS3 is that it's continually improved. Also related to how the drip tray pushes against the water tank. Sometimes I just push it in and release and that's enough to secure contact and it's back on again.

    Hello , thanks for wonderful guides.
    Q: I have Lamarzoco gs3 av. And 3 weeks old of medium roast beans(blend) . I'm using 19 g of ground beans and the extraction time is between 25 up to 30. Brewing temperature is 92 degree . The water TDS is between 72 to 80. The issue is When I want to make an ice latte . The taste of the drink is not sore yet not salty , but the espresso it self is tasteless. I've tried to rise the temperature up to 93 degree and the dose up to 21 g . Extraction time also from 25 up 30. Still watery. Any advice for me . Btw I'm using the gs3 for my coffee truck. Thank you

      What size iced latte are you using? The milk could be over taking the coffee because of milk volume. Also we would put a double shit and a ristretto into and iced latte of 500ml to make sure it had enough coffee kick

    Does it warn you the water is getting low? My greatest frustration on my rocket is the machine shutting off mid shot due to the water running out. The only way to check is to take the cups off, lift the lid and look in. Particularly frustrating when I just made one for my partner and it cuts out on my shot :(

    1. A pressure profiling machine should always be plumbed in . 2. "I don't know how much water usage is just using the hot top or using water when there's "not coffee in there"... did you really just say that LOL? Do you think the machine actually knows if there is coffee in the Portafilter or not? It's simply a reading from the Water Spout vs the Group head water flow. And yes, draining the boilers for tea/hot water constantly is obviously going to empty your reservoir quick smart, with any machine. If your intention is to use it like a Kettle, it needs to be plumbed in or get used to refilling a few times a day. Appreciate the review, however it paints a bit of a negative image on the machine when its actually more so the user use case causing your frustrations. Enjoy :)

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Andy. Yes it needs to be plumbed, many people in home can not do this, i really want to cover all uses of a machine. No machine will know if you have coffee in or not, (well in a home machine) it’s is again a user issue not looking at the water tank fill level before you use a machine. My machine gets uses a lot in a day. I definitely need to set aside time to plum it in.

    Hello all so how could you mod the steam the reduce the moisture???

    • @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
      @ArtistiCoffeeRoasters  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have found the moisture only and issue at the start of a stream. The purge should get this out and them be great for milk. The tap has an anti vac valve that pushes moisture into the drip tray. Is yours blocked? This can happen if you leave the steamer in the milk after you have finished and it will suck it back up the steam wand and stop it from working.

  • @ThomasBrooke
    @ThomasBrooke 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't think the point about them running out of water quickly is very justified... Any machine running on a reservoir is going to need constant refilling if you use it a lot and use it for teas too. The gs3 has the largest reservoir by far compared to most other home machines.
    It just requires the user to consider refilling the machine regularly or checking each morning...
