  • In this video, I demonstrate two easy ways you can use to enhance or add mist to a landscape photo.
To add the mist, I will be using Affinity Photo for one example, but you can also use Adobe Photoshop or Elements. In the other example, I’ll be using Affinity Photo and the Nik Collection to add the mist.
In the video, I demonstrate the Refine Selection dialog. If you want to understand the Refine tools, here is the link to my video: • Amazing Selections Usi...

nicely done, really adds a nice mist to the picture. just a little info, the adjustment layers are already a mask, no need to add another mask ;)

Thanks. When you say there's no need to add another mask because "the adjustment layers are already a mask", do you mean the control points create a mask that controls the selection? If you do, I add the mask to the layer with the effect to prevent it spilling over in the foreground rocks. Control Points make general selections that blend their effect with the surrounding area. I use a mask to remove any overspill on the foreground rocks. Without that you lose the sense of depth as the fog no longer appears to be in the valley. If I've misunderstood let me know.

@@RobinWhalley What I mean, when you add an adjustment layer, the icon of the adjustment layer is white (meaning white masked), so with the adjustment layer selected, you can simply select the brush and add black colour to the adjustment layer to remove the effect. you can even have the adjustment layer selected, go to layer "invert" and the effect is removed completely, to then select a white brush and paint over the area you want to have adjusted with that correction. Hope that makes sense the way I explained it... the adjustment layer in itself is a mask which you can paint on.

@@andygrichting OK thanks for explaining. The reason I chose to do it the way that I did is that it's less painting.
