I never noticed until watching your recent videos just how impressive 4014's acceleration was. For such a massive engine, Big Boy can sure get up to speed quickly.
And this isn't even anywhere near full throttle. The entire stretch of track they're running on here is in the downhill direction, so Ed probably doesn't have the throttle open more than half to accelerate, and he hooks up the gear fairly quickly. The diesel is in like dynamic 3 or so to hold the train speed to 40 mph once they get there.
Yes, it's all Big Boy doing the pulling and not the diesel 4015 behind it. The diesel is for other things like brakes and even the computer and electronics that are legally required among other things. BTW the BIG BOY can pull far heavier loads( Not that the 4015 isn't a powerful loco in it's own right).
12:16 looks like 4014 has fans of the equine persuasion as well. good to know the fame and appreciation of the BigBoys extends across the boundaries of species.
Can you tell me what make and model camera you are using to take these great shots? Thanks for your effort in bringing these shots to those who can not see her in person.
Amazing locomotive and amazing video but what I’d really love to see is C&O 614 get back up and running. I’m really surprised that Ross Rowland has let that locomotive languish for so long!
The 614 needs a top down complete overhaul at this point; it's been outdoors for so long. We're talking several million dollars that isn't going to be easy to come by.
What a great old engine. It's like moving art, work

I just noticed that your chase and pacing videos are 40:14 in length. Very clever!
It's become a bit of a running thing for me to try and do now.
Ones again epic footage of pacing the Big Boy. Thank you and a shout out all the way from The Netherlands !
By far the best chase cinematography of this beauty ❤️ VERY much appreciated and thanks for sharing!
I appreciate the all the recent Big Boy action @Fan Railer keep the videos coming💯🔥🚂🚃🚋🚃🚋🚋🚃🚃🚃

Спасибо автору за прекрасные кадры моего любимого паровоза БОЛЬШОЙ МАЛЬЧИК❤❤❤
nice video especially with the meet. that was epic
I don't know what it is, but the sound of those steam engines chugging along is extremely satisfying
Incredibly good video work. How'd you get it so steady, and good audio too wow!
The 4014 is really a great engine. It's kind of like a modified thirty nine eighty five3985, I sure missed that old engine.
In terms of design lineage, the 3985 is a shrunken down version of the 4014.
wow❤❤
The absolute T-Rex of rail ....
❤😊
