British fish and chips is the same as English lol, you should always call British things British not English (unless they are specifically one nation i.e haggis)
I'm lucky in life that I have been to many very beautiful locations, in my England, but I feel you have been to more. Thank you for continuing to share your journey....
Loved these two videos Danny 😊 You could do a mini series on and off and do other seaside towns up and down the UK and do a league table with points scored 😆 I think all the high scorers would be in Yorkshire though 🙂
Totally agree. Magpie. Even though not tasting it of course. Just on looks alone and portions. Missing me fish and chips - maybe I'll get back to the UK this autumn 🤞

I really wish here in Canada our shops did the curry :) We don't do the mushy peas either(few places order them extra) Now that said all our shops do a coleslaw instead and have gravy, tarter sauce and cocktail sauce. All the real good fish shops usually have good rolls or fresh bread with the dinner as well.
When I'm in Whitby I always go to Hadley's Fish and chips...over the bridge and just on your right as road bends to right.... lovely food there....try it while your there 👍
Great to see your van drive past our EE truck, I’ve no idea how I didn’t spot you! Especially the fact you filmed right next to us! Keep up the good work!
Whitby has some of the best fish and chips if not, the best fish and chips I’ve ever tried in England and I would definitely go back for more if I ever got the opportunity to.
If you go through boyes near trenchers theyres a cracking little chippy there too in the alley . And another next to the Wethherspoon's in the alley check those out if you get chance
They say locals recommend Trenchers and tourists go for Magpies. Both are absolutely brilliant but if I had to pick between the 2 Magpies Cafe fish and chips pips Trenchers, though I think Trenchers dine-in experience is hands down much better. I feel that in Whitby you are spoilt for choice and that my family and I love holidaying there for the food, history and surroundings are all great to experience and enjoy.
Trenchers is expensive and the last time I went I got a Minnow as a fish. It was diabolically disappointing. We go to Quayside near Magpies (gluten free option as well).
Great review as always. Now, I’m only saying this as a bit of north south banter so no one take this seriously or get offended. Danny you need to try a Fish n Chip shop in the Peak District called Catch 32 , for myself it's a 90 mile round trip but me and the mrs love a ride out to get some. Cooked in beef dripping too ! A very small and simplistic menu but very traditional. I've only tried the fish n chips and they are incredible so the rest of the menu is unknown. It would be class to see a video about it
My boss used to drive from Leeds on a weekend to Magpie get a take out as there was allways a stuipd queue to get in then just sit on the front have his food and then drive back. I have been a few times def ace food!
Bit of fish 'n' chips beside the Friday night pee spot in that there beautiful British weather. Great videos Danny, I think I'll get fish 'n' chips for dinner tomorrow night 😀
That is not a fishcake, it's a rissole, a mixture of fish and potato, a fishcake consists of two slices of potato with a considerable piece of cod or haddock between. salt and pepper deep fried in batter.
Bang on ...sheffield here and i just dont get how a rissole can be called a fishcake ..just think a cake top bottom and middle ...potato fish potato a fish cake till i blue in face
I would probably land in the same space as you - I have had f&c at both - and would probably chose the Magpie before Trenchers. But I still think you should try a few more - you could do a whole series of episodes in Whitby and do the chippies of the area. And try and squeeze Silver Street in while you are at it - you might be surprised.
Great videos, got a list now of places to visit lol. Wasn't too keen on Maggie's and didn't try Trenchers, so it was nice to see the comparison. Was a little surprised to see you trying the 'fishcakes', as being a Yorkshire guy, I would think that a 'Sheffield' fishcake would be more to your liking. You could try Whitby's Restaurant & Take Away which is in Catcliffe, Sheffield. Lovely, proper fishcakes (rissoles as well) and skin on Haddock. Give it a go. Cheers. Edit: The couple talking to Danny about Howden, is there a F & C shop that he's done a review on? Go through Howden quite a lot.
Plymouth it’s a seaside ocean city with the best fish and chips in the world! Go to the Barbican strip you will spoilt for choice there is a chippy every 15 meters all award winning. Amazing city too beautiful and plenty to do and eat!🎉

You have been to hull many times but the best place to try is just outside hull in hessle , called "love Italian " and all I can say is it's amazing and if you like authentic Italian food at reasonable prices with great portion size I have to request you look them up mate
As with any recipe ingredients differ, classically minced or finely chopped (Pickles) are added to Mayonnaise,a dash of lemon juice and chopped parsley. All the kitchens I've ever worked with used gherkins and capers.
Is there a bias for the first restaurant because you would have been hungrier? The first few bites of a chippy are always the best so the second place would have a disadvantage there. Bread cake did look a bit dry though
I think you got unlucky with that cod if I'm honest. Me and my husband went to Trenchers when we visited Whitby last month and it was quite a large meaty Cod, I had to leave most of the batter because I was so full 😂.
Cameraman getting cheeky nicking dannys food 😂 Love it!
I would agree by the looks of them, Magpie takes it for me also.
