I bought the cheap looptyers. Quick skim over with a bit of sandpaper and you are all good. Same with Matchman or those Chinese metal hooktyers. Just take the sharp edges off the prongs with sandpaper. No more line damage.
Perfect video esp on the figure of 8 knot i was getting mixed up with an underhand knot in passing the loop twice through the hole instead of twisting it round then through for tying hooks. Can you show how to line tye hooks that are already hair rigged with push stops onto hook lengths
You defo get what you pay for. I bought a cheap tyer first by mistake and i couldn't even hold it correctly. Great video. One about removing hooklengths would be great 👍
Great vid Scott,Have you any ideas on how to release your line from the line clip Quick and easy when clipping up either informative or video when you get a fish on don't want to unclip every cast if possible and my line clip isn't that good, Would love your feedback if you can help Cheers mate.
When clipping up make sure you have at least 2 turns on the reel when it's on your rest, so it gives a bit of run initially, the only thing you can really do is be quick in unclipping which is not always easy and I've been smashed myself a couple of times. One chap I know puts a small loop of line on his mainline and when he hears it going through the eyes of the rod, he feathers the feeder down, I prefer to clip up if I'm against a feature or far bank ect but in open water I just fire it out and pray it lands near where I want it lol
Hi Shaun, you can't do it with the loop tyer but the figure of 8 knot is a good way to do it, th-cam.com/video/S4JvFPSp8rI/w-d-xo.html good question and thanks for watching, glad it was helpful.
Nice video on how to properly use the tool. May I ask where do you get your hook line box? I search and all I can find is that big bulky one. Yours is soooo compact
I can tie a loop with the tool but I really bloody struggle getting the line over to form the loop for the last bit! I’ll try doing it with holding the line like you’ve done here.
You can actually use a loop tyer to do bait bands ... I watched in on you tube 2 years ago and never got the hang of it Tried loads of times aswell Sure the guy was using a dodgy loop tyer 😂😂 Do them by hand with a loop sizer and the ngt tool now and never have a problem Great video again 👍
It's more about consistency with bait presentation, if the hook length is all the same length then the bait will be in the same place every time so you don't miss the fish. Hope that helps.
@@Scottsoutdoorchannel I've been fihing for over 50yrs now and have found out that the more I fish, the less the fish left over by the fish factories, to the point, that with the billions of $ spent by all the equipment out there, it's going to wind up a "free for all!" As to who's going to get the last fish, before the trawler gets there!
Loop tyers are as good as sliced bread. The first one I ever saw was a Sensas which was perfectly moulded but very expensive, the second was a Prestons which was a cheap and nasty knock off which was made at a price not a quality and unusable due to the moulding flash on the inside of the beak. As you say there are many types out there my favourite is the Exceed 2012, problem is they sink. You use your loop tyer like I do as there are several different methods to using them. One thing I did find when uslng the hook box as a template for length if you were using thick line as in my case .20 the amount of line used in making the knot was sufficient to shorten the overall hook length especially if you were using a double twist. Making a jig from a strip of dry wood and two small oval nails allowed the correct length of line to be measured before tying the loop. Using mono allows for some stretch, try using braid with no stretch then see how they fit on the pins in the hook box, In my case whoops. Also try tying the loop larger in your main line when using loop to loop. Thank you for taking the time to put your content on TH-cam.
Thank you Malc, you've made some great points and I've fallen foul of the dreaded double turn on thick lines more than once lol. The jigs are a great idea and I might have to get some made. Cheers Scott
I purchased a 4 loop tyer set off Ebay for about $8.00 shipped, and took about 15 minutes of time with the wife's diamond coated nail file and a few narrow strips of sandpaper from about 220 grit through 400 grit glued to a strip of wood to eliminate the casting flash. They are now smooth as silk and work perfectly for about $2.00 each and a little bit of my time.
That was the best way I’ve seen that tool being demonstrated. I’ll be trying that in a day or 2.
Thanks, really glad it was helpful
Best video i have seen showing how to use a hook tyer well explained stay safe and well.
Thank you so much Graham, hope your well
Thanks very clear and especially helpful in showing how to get correct sized hook lengths. Cheers
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for sharing. Must get one of these!
Thank you Chris, less than £2 for perfect knots is a great deal.
Great instruction cheers
Thanks Marc, glad you liked it
Interesting film mate
Thanks Des, glad you enjoyed it
We’re videos were excellent,thank you.

Try doing it against black card good info cheers
It was clear Scott and very easyto follow
Glad it was helpful David, tight lines
Did a good job there pal made that look easy thank you very much
No problem, glad it helped
Had that thing for a year. Other end has the hook remover, and I only used that. Will try this now. Thanx.
No worries, glad it helped, just practice on some old line and you'll soon get the hang of it.
Great vid again M8. My loop tyer was cheap and I had to mess around smoothing it. Good that you showed the knot by hand as well. Well done.
Cheers Colin, glad you found it useful
Nice and simple video Scott.
This will help so many anglers.
Keep up the good work 👍
Thank you Philip, plenty more to come
Thanks for the video Scott, Now I know how to get that perfect length! Cheers, Mark

Hey Dan can you make a video of float shotting , how many shot from nr 8 you use for 4x12 , i need a float chart
Hi Ludo, I covered it a little here th-cam.com/video/EqkSlc50cuw/w-d-xo.html but I will be doing a more up to date version very soon. Cheers Scott
Like that a lot. I’m not dexterous enough to do the Jamie Hughes method
Jamie has magic fingers lol
Perfect video esp on the figure of 8 knot i was getting mixed up with an underhand knot in passing the loop twice through the hole instead of twisting it round then through for tying hooks.

Hi mate, glad it was clear and helpful, I'll see what I can get organised to do, it'll be when the kids get back to school though
very good thanks john
Vet helpful, thank you.
No problem, glad it was useful

Great video simple and easy to understand Great job 👍
Thanks Thomas, glad it was helpful
I could never master that hook tyre. But the Preston hook tyre is so easy.
I've not tried the preston one, as long as it does what you need that's great
This is very helpful, thanks. Question how do you tie the loop with a hook within the loop?
Hi Shaun, you can't do it with the loop tyer but the figure of 8 knot is a good way to do it,
th-cam.com/video/S4JvFPSp8rI/w-d-xo.html good question and thanks for watching, glad it was helpful.
Fabbo ...didnt know how to get the correct length ...do now!! Great!!
Happy to help!
Can you do a video on tieing hooks with bait bands please for feeder fishing thanks
Yes, I have some hook tying videos planned very soon
Nice video on how to properly use the tool. May I ask where do you get your hook line box? I search and all I can find is that big bulky one. Yours is soooo compact
Thank you, glad you liked it, the hook box is by Preston Innovations and Ringers also do a smaller version for 4" hook lengths

It can be tricky to get right but keep practicing and you'll soon get it, it helps to practice on thick line too...
Howd do you tie in a bait band using the tire pls
Hi Andy, for bait bands I tie them using an overhand knot, the loop tyer is great for loops but doesn't work for bands
You can actually use a loop tyer to do bait bands ...
I watched in on you tube 2 years ago and never got the hang of it
Tried loads of times aswell
Sure the guy was using a dodgy loop tyer 😂😂
Do them by hand with a loop sizer and the ngt tool now and never have a problem

Do fish, measure the length of the line, or reject the bait if the size is not long enough?
It's more about consistency with bait presentation, if the hook length is all the same length then the bait will be in the same place every time so you don't miss the fish. Hope that helps.

Try black amnesia
Good video but!....to make a true figure of 8 knot turn the hook tyer 1 time only not 2 as you have done 😉
Yeah your right, I've always done 2 though lol and now I don't know why......
Isn't the loop created by the tyer a double overhand loop?
Like the vids all the same!
To be perfectly honest I have no clue lol, but you're probably right.....
So if you have a cheapo Loop Tyer - Just gently sand down the offending flash/sprue.
Please show me the other way please.thank you.
A little short I did th-cam.com/users/shortsqODZo27llLQ?feature=share
Not a perfect 6in, it is 5 and 7eighths
Doesn't really matter though does it providing they are all the same, if you do get a break the next one will be the same length.......
@@Scottsoutdoorchannel yeah, just that them blue preston boxes are not a true 6 inch, the new ones are
