Stupendous! The voice very rich and opulent with that unparalleled technique. I heard her 1985 Lucia in the same theatre and it was incredible still. Probably one of the last great divas, along with Caballe. Singers like this no longer exist and won't ever again. The world is a very different place. Thanks so much for posting.
It's hard for this heart to take it... It's as if the floodgates of the biggest dam in the world had broken, and the biggest "avalanche" of sound came out 🙆🏻♂️🎶🤩
Joan as Lucia.....ya know how some people can get distracted by a leaf falling in the garden? Well, this is what I am like when I see ANYTHING Joan/Lucia related. EVERYTHING stops for that and the world can go for fourpence hehehehehe This house get's SHHHHHOOOSHED when she sings this! This video effect is brilliant!!! Love it!
According to Edward Greenfield’s book about Joan, she was originally asked to sing the “Libera Me” from the Verdi Requiem for this tribute. There wasn’t enough time to rehearse it, so the LuciaMsd Scene was substituted.
Dame Joan never ceases to AMAZE all of us . The ornamentations are astonishing and the sheer beauty of her vocal tone is without peer.
My Lord! The way her voice grows and grows in opulence and power as it goes up-just incredible. And the accuracy!!

There's a mistake in the introduction! The Lucia was 1959 of course.
@@ahogbin2644 It's not a mistake, her debut was 1952, her 1st lucia was 1959.

You've done it again. Didn't know this existed. Thank you. 👋
Glorious!

Thank you for posting! 1970 is my favorite year for her. Also love the new video style for audio. Very creative!
Thank you!!!!! 😜
My favorite year is 1972. (But 1970 is fantastic!)
Question; was this staged?
I think it was. It was part of a big gala. Geraint Evans did some Falstaff too.
