    At first I was confused when you went on to explain Madonna then realized that I'm so much older than you and likely most of your fans. Keep up the great work. Also, love that you call your grandmother Oma. I live in Germany right now and that's what my kids call their grandmother.

    Only recently found IMY2 thanks to Utube algorithms. Now my favourite band. Great music, but more importantly A, Mike and Cal seem to be great people.

    I was a teen in the 70's and had a great vinyl album collection. Went into the navy and my collection got stored in a hot garage, then a hot storage room in Texas for more years than I remember. When I got around to wanting them again, of course they were wabbly and wavy from the heat. I'm glad they're making a come back. We had lots of good times in our rooms filled with friends listening to latest album by this band or that one. You're so right about putting the needle down and just letting it go, so artists were very careful about what they put on their albums. lol

    You get to use Elvis' microphone stand. That's amazing. I dig almost all of those records, and I'm in my late 40's. I've got a nice Kenwood direct-drive TT and a couple dozen records. But, I'm not using them currently. I'm into ripping CDs and making mixed tapes with them. More importantly, I can make bit for bit copies for archival purposes. I've got some really old CDs, like early to mid 1980's! I wouldn't have a CD player for about a decade after these CDs were released. I've got 2 important CDs. One is Soundgarden's double CD of Badmotorfinger and SOMMS. They made 100,000 of them. I had one new at the time, and re-purchased a minty one 20 odd years later. The best for last is Blues Traveler's double CD , Travelers and Thieves with the On Tour Forever EP. They only pressed 10,000 of these and I'm lucky enough to have one.

    My younger brother and I grew up in the 60s and 70s. We have a collection of over 2500 record albums. Crates and crates of them. Although we don't play them anymore - they were all converted to digital format years ago, it's kind of fun to start pulling random records out of the crates. We have albums from a lot of obscure bands that most people have never heard of as well as complete collections of virtually every major band.

    • @IMY2music
      @IMY2music  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow! That’s amazing. We looooove playing the records themselves, vinyl just sounds and feels so good! The best part is discovering those obscure bands you would never guess are soooo incredible. I hope you and your brother are able to spin those records from time to time 💗

      @@IMY2music I have been thinking about pulling out my old analog Marantz 2250 receiver - the damn thing weighs over 35 lbs (that is not a typo) with its beautiful solid walnut cabinet - my Yamaha turntable and speakers, and start playing some of those really obscure albums. Particularly a few my brother didn't record. One of my favorites is the original Buckingham Nicks album before they joined Fleetwood Mac. It is an extraordinary album. Recorded in L.A. in '73, but the song "Lola" sounds like something that could have come out of Nashville or Muscle Shoals. You hear Lindsay Buckingham's guitar work and understand where the sound for the post-Peter Green Fleetwood Mac came from. You two imy2 boys will really appreciate it. Analise - you will love the vocal work on the album. I'd love to hear you sing a rendition of Races are Run. You'd give Stevie Nicks a run for her money. That is not hyperbole.
      By the way, this 65-year-old dude thinks you guys are awesome! :)
      Here's the link to the Buckingham Nicks album on TH-cam. Enjoy, kids.

    Elvis, ABBA, Mama & the Papas, Madonna, Michael Jackson all good classic records that I remember when they were new (well not the Elvis)... They're all good... and Taylor Swift "Folklore" is the best album of 2020. Do more vinyl. Good to know what inspires you + the many cover songs IMY2 has done already tells us.

    I love Taylor swift too from the first time I saw her I was watching the morning news on WPIX WB-11 (Now the CW-11) from NYC and as they were going to a commercial break they left with a teaser about this young (she was 16 years old) woman who was born and raised in Pennsylvania but plays and sings country music. At the time I'd never heard of someone from from that far North being a Country performer, so I stuck around for the interview and was completely astounded by how smart and well spoken she was at that age. During the interview she mentioned that she had written or co-written all of the songs on the album which also blew me away. I became a fan of hers with that interview. She really is a great talent. I also think that she is a very strong woman who is in control of her career (as much as she can be). I am very impressed by how she has stood up to people who belittle her for her love life and how she got really pissed off at Scooter Braun for buying her Master recordings from Big Machine Records owner Scott Borchetta. I don't understand why the person who recorded those albums does not own them in the first place. I know that it's probably a complicated matter that involves Lawyers and copyrights but I feel that you as a performer and/or songwriter needs to wait to own something that should already be yours.
    I love imy2 and Taylor Swift and Motörhead. That may seem weird but that's part of who I am.

    I have every Michael Jackson ever released on vinyl. I was 10 when Thriller came out, and I was swept up in Michael Mania, but then, I had always been a HUGE MJ fan. I inherited a whole stack of vinyl (singles and LPs) from my Mum and I bought a lot in the 1980's. Still have them all. Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, The Jacksons, AC/DC, The Bee Gees, Wings, George Harrison, The Beatles, ABBA, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, tonnes of disco hits, and many more.

    OMG, thank you for sharing this. I have to say while I was just a baby in the early sixties I love the Momma's and the Papa's. Was a bit to young for the free love of the sixties, LOL. ABBA, top notch. Loved listening to your explanation of their music. Was a huge fan and had the biggest crush on Agnetha back in the day. Elvis watched his movies on the TV as a kid, got my first guitar as a child and would pester the neighbors with "ain't nothing but a hound dog" endlessly. This all really took me down memory lane right through Madonna, onto Gwenn, Michael and I could go on but won't.
    Anyway I just wanted to say your singing is really something special, I love how you clearly connect emotionally with the words as you sing. Your voice is excellent but the emotion you bring with it really makes it come alive. Please keep doing what you are doing. Also the guys are such awesome musicians and together you all make some of the most wonderful music I have ever been privileged to hear. Keep on rocking and you will never grow old.

    Annalise, there are a shit-ton of amazing women who said things that needed to be said but mostly on their first album and then it's like the freaking lights turned off, like Alanis Morrissette, her first album covered a lot of important topics that helped a lot of people.... and then, she wrote the apology album. I was so blown away when she flipped like Jekale and Hide. No doubt made their first two albums and made some important points that needed to be said and then they somehow calmed down and faded away. The list could go on and I'd be writing a book. So, for now, dwell on those, or maybe I'll add a few more, like Venessa Carlton (One album and she discovered she had stage fright.) Michelle Branch, one album and she decided to hook up with another gal and make a country album..... and that was how she said goodbye. Janis Joplin. Selena Gomez who didn't write most of her own music but had writers who after a talk about what she wanted to say, wrote her hit after hit..... You should go find those two people and ask them to pull a rabbet out of a hat for you.

    There are a lot of song writers who should let other people with better voices (like yours) sing their songs. Taylor Swift is one of those people. Her voice is winy, she sings through her nose and although her song are powerful she's better off letting other people sing them. Elvis, was only singing to the women out there and I can kinda get why you'd enjoy his crooning. Not a fan of Elvis, but everyone else you mentioned I down with. Oh and I'd love to come over and listen to and talk about toons.

    I'm one of those stupid people who tossed away my vinyl collection when CD's arrived. What was I thinking :(
