It's not like they just stick their grubby hands in there whenever they please and for any reason they like. They justify their expenses just like any government employee. A lot of the taxpayers' money goes into maintenance of the Crown properties such as Buckingham Palace which technically are owned by the British people. The royals have their own private properties (Sandringham, Highgrove, Balmoral, Gatcombe Park, etc.) which also happen to be successful, highly-profitable farms and that's where they draw funds for their personal expenses. They also work there when they're not performing their royal duties, which by the way, is not limited to just waving their hands.

It's a TV show. Everyone with a working brain should be able to tell that every scene where 2 people are alone in a room behind closed doors might have never happened or happened differently. "Blame" is a strong word, but I do think she bears some responsibility for the breakup. It wasn't all Charles' fault, either. Seriously? People know that this is a dramatized version based on real events. I'm American, but I'm not stupid enough to think that every conversation and every event actually happened. But I do know a lot of the real life events that have happened based on documentaries and news coverage from the time. They are upset because this is the most damaging to the next in line to be king. And it is damaging, not because of some fictional conversations portrayed on the show, but because of the facts that had been established years ago. People felt this way about Charles and Camilla back then. This show just reminded people about it and introduced a new generation to the bad things they did then (and now we have the added benefit of social media). They made their bed and now they have to lay in it. Stop trying to point out some of the fictional things added for dramatic license and using that as a reason why we shouldn't believe the things it depicts. If you took out all of the fiction and just left us with the things that were true and publicized in real life, they still would come out looking horrible.

I kinda understand him tho. He is in direct line of succession, so we can be quite sure he was indoctrinated really bad by the senior royals about whose "side" to always be on. we all have watched Diana's interviews, the time when Charles said "whatever in love means" and the time Diana was in tears after Charles left for Australia...yes, the gaps between those events are fake but everyone knows the synopsis of the story. The overall truth is dramatized - the marriage was a failure, the relationship between Prince Charles and Camilla did occur and it’s obvious that Diana received little support. Whatever happened to ‘don’t explain don’t complain’ ? The protests against Season 4 put it on blast. Diana’s experience in her own words, along with news coverage of the time, exist as evidence against claims of dishonesty. Besides who doesn’t know that The Crown is a dramatization based on real actual events? IMO The only “trolling” that occurs this season is with Andrew and reference to the Epstein scandal.

Well My favorite season from the Crown is the four (4) because is princess Diana there so I don't care if the royal family liked it or not. But let's be honest, we all know that Carlos cheated on Diana countless times with Camila. And from seeing his real interviews, it is more than obvious that he was envious of Diana. The best of all that even dead, Diana is still more loved than him. Carlos should be grateful because sometimes he is also painted as the victim in the serie.

The striking resemblance harry has to the officer shown in this video that was known to have had a five year affair with princess Diana...hmmmm

I Love The Crown. I'm a fan of Princess Diana. I do think it should've been more accurate to history. A lot can be learned from it. The Crown gives us a chance to know the Royals as people. Queen Elizabeth in real life has been very much in the background. The Crown gives viewers a chance to learn about her before our era. I admire King George VI.
I feel that the situation is so simplified and don't like the way the royal family is depicted in the 4th season. I bet she wasn't so naive and inocent as portraited. So as her relatives. Though I really do enjoy the play and the picture. So nicely done.
While I agree with you to some extent, I do have to say that she was very naive at the beginning. There are instances that happened that aren't depicted in the show before she became engaged and yes, there were mistakes by someone completely naive and clueless. Those beginners (fish out of water) mistakes were part of what made the public fall in love with her before she even engaged with the crowds. I think that is part of what helped her seem more genuine than other royals. While they were groomed at birth, she was kind of thrown into it and her fumbling through until she hit the ground in her own stride helped, not hindered how the public viewed her. Also, she, not unlike Charles, was emotionally vulnerable. While Charles was groomed by the establishment to just get on with it, Diana was not and against the public scrutiny, she naturally was more open to the public. Be they royals or no, those born into privilege don't have a true sense of what the world really is about-those royals, unlike Diana, don't have a clue what it is like to live outside their gilded world. It's natural that it would show as well, and it does, in the real world and the world of "The Crown".
What we have to remember is both H&W lived this, so they have to relive it all over again. Although they may not watch It, they will see the headlines. It was 1 of the darkest periods in royal history. It has stirred up a lot of stuff for the public as well. People don't forget.
Harry definitely watches it. He's enjoyed but says when they start showing him (actor playing him), he'll have to stop watching because he'll be too embarrassed. Lol
Most of the events are true. The Royals did try to break Camilla and Charles apart by sending him out to the navy, which after he found out, he would hold onto that first love relationship even harder. I actually don't blame Charles for separating from Diana. But how he treated her was inexcusable, but the whole family is to blame. The fact that Charles ended up marrying Camila that many years later, shows that was the real true love. I'm not sure was she so cold hearted in putting Diana down and purposely not allowing Charles to break off. Anyways, the whole show is another of those realities that, money doesn't buy you happiness. You get other problems that cut just as deep.

Of course they can't do %100 accuracy, but I'm thoroughly convinced that Michael Morgan understands family's bursting at the seams. Royal or not, what Charle's did to Diana threatened the Monarcy's survival, and in doing so threw a huge spanner in the works. Prince Phillip wasn't faithful, but he was discreet. Charle's knew full well he entered into an arranged marriage, but Diana truly believed Charles loved her. The Royal family needed 'an heir and a spare' by someone not related to them by blood. Talk about Dysfunctional 🙆♀️.

This season of the crown shows how out of touch the Royal Family is. I mean really Page of the presence, page of the backstairs, ladies of the bedchamber etc. who in the modern day needs that? What is these people’s function? As the fictional dialogue between Princess Margaret and the senior royals showed on the eve of Charles and Diana’s wedding, that the Royal Family had gotten it wrong in any instance when they intervened in a Royal marriage. E.g. King Edward VII and Wallace, Princess Margaret and Peter Townsend, Charles and Camilla. Even now they got it all wrong with Harry and Megan. I can’t believe I’m writing this, but perhaps this Queen Should be the last monarch and the Windsor’s should ride into the sunset.
The members of the BRF that I feel sorry for are Prince William, Duchess Catherine and their children. William and Catherine are trying to raise their family under intense public scrutiny. The York girls are grown and married to wealthy men. If they stay out of the limelight they can raise their children without intense public scrutiny. The dramatisation of the Bob Hawke interview is not as good as the origina interview (which is still accessible - location was wrong, date was wrong, what the PM actually said, is not as scripted. ABC 4Corners (the producers of the original interview in1983, factm checked and linked the actual interview).

I loved Kate Blanchet's portrayal of Queen Elizabeth I in both films, and Helen Mirren's portrayal of the same queen on HBO. While Helen's portrayal was of Elizabeth in her elder years, there was an overlap of the two portrayals. It came during the preparation of the Spanish Invasion up to when she addresses her army. The speeches were much the same in both portrayals. They were spoken almost verbatim as what she said and her actions during that speech, what she wore and said are branded in history. Yet, what the two actresses portrayed before, during and after the historic fact are portrayed very differently, including the armor worn. While we know the basic facts of something, we can only imagine what it was really like. One would have to be a fool to believe that anything these actresses portrayed was how the real incident really went. No one knows for sure. One would have to have been there to know. We know the facts and can only imagine how it actually played out. Both offered realistic portrayals of the same. Wonderful re-enactments. But, it's why they are called dramatizations. The Crown is no different. The facts are there, the portrayals differ in all films of the same. Except thus far, The Crown's depiction is brilliant and realistically played out by top-notch actors. The fact that it is touching nerves the way it does is a testament to the fact.

I kinda understand him tho. He is in direct line of succession, so we can be quite sure he was indoctrinated really bad by the senior royals about whose "side" to always be on. After Diana died there was no one left to balance their authority. I suppose Harry was allowed to think more freely and got the chance to reflect, which is why he left. William cannot leave without destroying everything that's left of the modern monarchy.

we all have watched Diana's interviews, the time when Charles said "whatever in love means" and the time Diana was in tears after Charles left for Australia...yes, the gaps between those events are fake but everyone knows the synopsis of the story. Also, 1:12 why alarmed? they're actors, they are paid to be in a project and do their best in their craft and he should qualify their acting skills not if they're portrayign a member of his family, of course I understand he'd find difficult to separate his personal feelings from his job but no one force the royal family to stay royals. if the scrutiny is too harsh, if the press is too harsh, if there's no privacy, no one force them to stay in that position, just like any other person shouldn't stay in a job that feels to hard to bare...imo.

The problem is that it dredges up past animosity that Charles and Camilla have spent two decades trying to overcome. The overall truth is dramatized - the marriage was a failure, the relationship between Prince Charles and Camilla did occur and it’s obvious that Diana received little support. Whatever happened to ‘don’t explain don’t complain’ ? The protests against Season 4 put it on blast. Diana’s experience in her own words, along with news coverage of the time, exist as evidence against claims of dishonesty. Besides who doesn’t know that The Crown is a dramatization based on real actual events? IMO The only “trolling” that occurs this season is with Andrew and reference to the Epstein scandal.
William knows his father treated his mother like crap, whether he watches the Crown or not. Her own interview was scathing in regard to Prince Charles.
If he thought that way, why would he criticize and dislike the show?

Can you imagine them as teens/pre-teens, learning about their family's tragic history and criticism from the public through all the media readily available online? If I were in the shoes of a young person growing up in such an environment, I would be pretty conflicted and confused.

I BET the Queen thoroughly enjoyed season 1 because it depicted a time in her youth when not only was her father around but as she ascended the throne, Britain was still Great and the Crown was still very much a seat of prestige. Bet it brought her back. And I say this in a positive manner. The Crown has turned me into a full blown Monarchist.

Well My favorite season from the Crown is the four (4) because is princess Diana there so I don't care if the royal family liked it or not. But let's be honest, we all know that Carlos cheated on Diana countless times with Camila. And from seeing his real interviews, it is more than obvious that he was envious of Diana. The best of all that even dead, Diana is still more loved than him.
Carlos should be grateful because sometimes he is also painted as the victim in the serie.
It just goes to show you after Princess Diana's interview the wheels of the establishment was put into place to destroy her.

The striking resemblance harry has to the officer shown in this video that was known to have had a five year affair with princess Diana...hmmmm

I Love The Crown. I'm a fan of Princess Diana. I do think it should've been more accurate to history. A lot can be learned from it. The Crown gives us a chance to know the Royals as people. Queen Elizabeth in real life has been very much in the background. The Crown gives viewers a chance to learn about her before our era. I admire King George VI.

I feel that the situation is so simplified and don't like the way the royal family is depicted in the 4th season. I bet she wasn't so naive and inocent as portraited. So as her relatives. Though I really do enjoy the play and the picture. So nicely done.
While I agree with you to some extent, I do have to say that she was very naive at the beginning. There are instances that happened that aren't depicted in the show before she became engaged and yes, there were mistakes by someone completely naive and clueless. Those beginners (fish out of water) mistakes were part of what made the public fall in love with her before she even engaged with the crowds. I think that is part of what helped her seem more genuine than other royals. While they were groomed at birth, she was kind of thrown into it and her fumbling through until she hit the ground in her own stride helped, not hindered how the public viewed her. Also, she, not unlike Charles, was emotionally vulnerable. While Charles was groomed by the establishment to just get on with it, Diana was not and against the public scrutiny, she naturally was more open to the public. Be they royals or no, those born into privilege don't have a true sense of what the world really is about-those royals, unlike Diana, don't have a clue what it is like to live outside their gilded world. It's natural that it would show as well, and it does, in the real world and the world of "The Crown".
Of course it would be hard to watch all of your deeply personal mistakes! And then you can choose not to watch it.

What we have to remember is both H&W lived this, so they have to relive it all over again. Although they may not watch It, they will see the headlines. It was 1 of the darkest periods in royal history. It has stirred up a lot of stuff for the public as well. People don't forget.

Most of the events are true. The Royals did try to break Camilla and Charles apart by sending him out to the navy, which after he found out, he would hold onto that first love relationship even harder. I actually don't blame Charles for separating from Diana. But how he treated her was inexcusable, but the whole family is to blame. The fact that Charles ended up marrying Camila that many years later, shows that was the real true love. I'm not sure was she so cold hearted in putting Diana down and purposely not allowing Charles to break off. Anyways, the whole show is another of those realities that, money doesn't buy you happiness. You get other problems that cut just as deep.

It's very entertaing and you learn something about history and politics. The royal family has been a source of gossip, controversy and entertainment for centuries.
Of course they can't do %100 accuracy, but I'm thoroughly convinced that Michael Morgan understands family's bursting at the seams. Royal or not, what Charle's did to Diana threatened the Monarcy's survival, and in doing so threw a huge spanner in the works. Prince Phillip wasn't faithful, but he was discreet. Charle's knew full well he entered into an arranged marriage, but Diana truly believed Charles loved her. The Royal family needed 'an heir and a spare' by someone not related to them by blood. Talk about Dysfunctional 🙆♀️.

This season of the crown shows how out of touch the Royal Family is. I mean really Page of the presence, page of the backstairs, ladies of the bedchamber etc. who in the modern day needs that? What is these people’s function? As the fictional dialogue between Princess Margaret and the senior royals showed on the eve of Charles and Diana’s wedding, that the Royal Family had gotten it wrong in any instance when they intervened in a Royal marriage. E.g. King Edward VII and Wallace, Princess Margaret and Peter Townsend, Charles and Camilla. Even now they got it all wrong with Harry and Megan. I can’t believe I’m writing this, but perhaps this Queen Should be the last monarch and the Windsor’s should ride into the sunset.

Can we all be sure how accurate this is? I mean I love this show, but it is fair to say that it is loosely based on actual events.
Many have already formed an opinion of Charles. He is evil, spoiled etc. Not being a brit myself I must admit I haven't followed the british royals closely.
Of course Princess Diana is well known for her popularity and her kindness and I think there is no doubt that that is true, but being loved by the public is one thing, being a wife is another.
Again without known the facts, I think it is rather onesided. Charles is portrait rather badly and all fault falls on him for everything from the marriage breaking and Diana's breakdown.
We have no idea how she was in private, she could be unbearable for all we know. I have a hard time believing that he is the only one to blame.

Over here in the Commonwealth nations, the whole thing has been reported on for decades (they are our Constitutional heads after all). The dramatisation of the Bob Hawke interview is not as good as the origina interview (which is still accessible - location was wrong, date was wrong, what the PM actually said, is not as scripted. ABC 4Corners (the producers of the original interview in1983, factm checked and linked the actual interview).

I loved Kate Blanchet's portrayal of Queen Elizabeth I in both films, and Helen Mirren's portrayal of the same queen on HBO. While Helen's portrayal was of Elizabeth in her elder years, there was an overlap of the two portrayals. It came during the preparation of the Spanish Invasion up to when she addresses her army. The speeches were much the same in both portrayals. They were spoken almost verbatim as what she said and her actions during that speech, what she wore and said are branded in history. Yet, what the two actresses portrayed before, during and after the historic fact are portrayed very differently, including the armor worn. While we know the basic facts of something, we can only imagine what it was really like. One would have to be a fool to believe that anything these actresses portrayed was how the real incident really went. No one knows for sure. One would have to have been there to know. We know the facts and can only imagine how it actually played out. Both offered realistic portrayals of the same. Wonderful re-enactments. But, it's why they are called dramatizations. The Crown is no different. The facts are there, the portrayals differ in all films of the same. Except thus far, The Crown's depiction is brilliant and realistically played out by top-notch actors. The fact that it is touching nerves the way it does is a testament to the fact.
