Famous 56 wfil with probably still been on the air today but like other radio stations 56 f i l went country same as 99 FM wusl another great radio station has been but we can always be thankful for listening back in the day at 56 wfil Jill O'Brien Chris Chandler Dave Parks Dan Donovan George Michaels Joel Denver and Kevin McCarthy and Tom Tyler Barbara Summers Doug Weldon Jim Nettleton these were the people that made 56 f i l radio worth listening to they were always funny and unique but you don't find that in today's radio and of course not forgetting the late Don Cannon these were the best of 56 wfil DJs who are now probably wfil top DJs playing Rock and Roll Heaven and they will surely be missed
WOW! Those early pre-boss jock jingles, never heard them before! This was a nice historical look to how the station developed! @4:22 Larry Justice alive? Well I'm glad to know that Don Steele's Tina Delgado had company while being alive! 😉Love that "Grazin' in the Grass" theme @12:42, GROOVY BABY!!! Great, thx again Ellis for this education!
Hey Ellis how can I ever forget this. I was a kid back in the 80s, I was 9 years old listening to wfil. I hope you do more of the wfil news again from 1984.
Could not have happened. In 1971, WFIL-AM was sold to LIN Broadcasting and WFIL-FM was spun off to Richer Communications. in 1987. WIOQ would no longer have access to the WFIL calls since they were with another company. It would have been a great move if they were still sister stations.
My station from growing up in South Jersey. Good one Ellis!

The early ones were simulcast on 102.1 FM, then known as WFIL FM.
30:46 Used in the final years of oldies
What would it have been if WIOQ switched back to WFIL and they moved the oldies to 102 before 98 became WOGL Oldies in November 87?
