=10. Wuxi, China
The city in Jiangsu province, just 45 minutes from Shanghai by high-speed train. Albeit being in the shadow of its neighbor, that does not hinder its growth to come up with three supertalls built in 10 years span.
=10. Nanjing, China
The main landmark, Zifeng Tower was once within 10 world's highest buildings become a symbol of Nanjing rapid progress despite its dark history 80 years ago.
=10. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
After completion of TM Tower in 2001, Kuala Lumpur stuck with 3 supertalls along with Petronas Towers until now. But 1 supertall (Four Seasons Place) soon will be included as well as 1 megatall (KL118).
=8. Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE)
Although lose badly to its brother in skyscraper race, Abu Dhabi still managed to sit on eighth place on the world stage. No bad at all.

Too bad the Shanghai Tower is considered a megatall (over 600 meters high), well at least it would share position with Moscow but yeah. Its difficult for new development since most lands in the city center already developed.
7. Moscow, Russia
The only representative from Europe, Moscow take a very different path from its west neighbors by easily approving supertall skyscrapers in the city center. That also means Moscow dominating 10 tallest buildings in Europe.

Chicago together with New York City flourished through 20th century with world's tallest building title stayed in America for at least one decade. Sears (now Willis) Tower was the historically Earth's tallest for 24 years.

30 years ago, Shenzhen was mere small town compared to Hong Kong, but now both are equal if not surpassed economically, the same thing happened in terms of city's supertalls counts.

The city with most skyscrapers on Earth would be odd not to have one in the list. So a century of fast-paced growth yielded a combination of new (International Commerce Centre) and old supertalls (Bank of China).
3. New York City, United States (USA)
Together with Hong Kong Island, Manhattan are two most developed islands in the world. Land scarcity force mayors and developers to build vertically for space that sparks innovations along the way such as elevators, escalators, as well as metro system to handle high traffic commuters.
2. Guangzhou, China
Eight supertalls in Guangzhou sitting close to each other. If that is not enough, Canton Tower at 600 meters high located just across the Pearl River with horizontal Ferris wheel operated one level above observation deck.
1. Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE)
18 supertalls, yep you heard it right, and increasing-fast. These supertalls are mostly group together in two places as shown in video. the one batch located near the Dubai Marina and the other are along Sheikh Zayed Road. The one near Dubai Marina are mostly luxury apartments with penthouses one of the most expensive in the world.

all TRX 106 floors completed and now only the cladding and crown going to finished. once completed next year, i think it will be the fastest 100++ floors building to completed. Construction start on May 2016. i living in KL, i saw it almost everyday :)

Needs an update. New York has 18 Supertalls. And the most 400m+ buildings in the world. Also has 20 planned super talls to start construction soon
Yeah. New York has planned good designs for the news skyscrapers. The most that I like is one that is based on the Sagrada Familia of Barcelona city, Spain. This skycraper will be beatiful and famous. The buildings is call 41 West 57 Street and it will be exciting see this type of skycraper.
In Mumbai 22 are under construction with 18 more approved.
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia should also be in the #8 spot along with Abu Dhabi and Shanghai since the majority of King Abdullah Financial District is (near) completion and its two supertalls have topped out ages ago! There is the KAFD Capital HQ (385m), Burj Rafal (309m), KAFD WTC (303m) and Kingdom Tower (302m)

Not accurate anymore. NYC would be higher now, as it has experienced a huge building boom, and now has 16 Supertalls either done or nearing completion, with at least 5 more planned.
