    Hey to make it really awesome one feature they could’ve done was to have it as a transmitter so that a receiver can be plugged into a power amp so you can play all the models and efx through a piwer amp out loud

    Instead of bluetooth, they should cram their 2.4GHz wireless transmitter into that thing so it can work with their existing wireless system. Doesnt solve the bluetooth to headphones; but you could run wirelessly to an FR cab or amp. I have their wireless system along with MG-30 both are excellent products and now Ill be getting this thing too :)

    Great review.
    Earphones bluetooth: as far as I know, real BT audio latency is still too high for minimum playing comfort. Not a useful feature (yet).

      100% this, I tried to get a Bluetooth sender for my audio interface so I didn't have to use cabled headphones, and despite the latency being "low" on the device, you could still feel it was behind too much to be usable.

    you cannot send audio directly to bluetooth headphones because you will have latency.
    however they could implement a 2.4ghz wifi transmission to send the signal directly to a stereo speaker system, without necessarily using the headphone jack.
    in this case it could also be sent to headphones with a wifi receiver. let's hope they think about it for a new version.

    • @guitarrizer
      @guitarrizer ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds right but in my ignorance is a no-no. Wifi Transmiters are digital and from what I see Nux is not at the level of Line 6, Boss or Shure) but I haven't tried any in terms of sound quality and latency.
      So this thing being digital has a latency for sure, then if it goes into a wireless system latency is increased. Also battery drag from wireless devices are higher so it would last half the time (Same size as a guitar transmitter given)
      Boss Wazas use bluetooth so you even can receive backing tracks to your phones (where latency is not an issue at all. I guess the communication between transmitter and receiver is digital (not UHF which theorically would be higher and drag less energy) but bluetooth or 2.4 don't know... There I guess Boss has digital patents for better latency, battery dragand stuff so other competiors cannot implement them. With also their vast array of effects, makes them unique.
      I would buy them in a rush if they had not such a battery replacement issue. Good times whem Japanese guys left the battery thinking sometime you would have to replace it.

    My iRig2 seems to have died so this looks like an excellent upgrade. I occasionally use my Boss Katana Air for “busking” with my fiddle and I’m hoping this could work well with a Bluetooth speaker too make such a rig even lighter.

    The reason why it won't support Bluetooth earbuds is due to the inherent latency in Bluetooth connections. It doesn't matter for your streaming song you're playing to, but for the guitar itself, trying to play along is impossible due to Bluetooth latency. Nux makes a fantastic stereo 5.8 Ghz wireless IEM setup, I've been using it live for a while now...

    Bluetooth earbud connections? The latency would kill it. The bluetooth connection works for backing tracks, as there the latency ist much of a problem, but for playing it definitely is - that's why bt earbuds make no sense here

  • @cosmiciron

    I bought this recently. The form factor is great, providing one of the most convenient experiences for silent guitar practice. However, I am underwhelmed by the sound quality - the amp models are very weak - not only they sound very different from what they are modeled after, they are often very trebly and lacking in dynamics. It’s nearly impossible to replicate the sag effect with some of the cleaner amps also. As for the cab simulator it’s the other way around - most sound very muddy. You can still get a respectable sound out of this unit but not without lots of fine tuning and hack. The selection of overdrives is also surprisingly small and again, with the exception of Tube Screamer they are all quite terrible. In all, I think this product is a brilliant concept but with flawed execution. Another big let down is the lack of a tuner which is essential to this kind of product. I’d bought this hoping it’d be a more convenient alternative to my Boss Pocket GT, but it didn’t work out. The GT’s sound quality and dynamics simply leave the Plug in the dust. While it’s less convenient, requiring plugging in a cable, it makes it up by having a built in tuner and a series of hardware buttons to customize your preset on the fly! Before buying the Plug I’d searched high and low on a comparison between it and the Pocket GT with no luck. For those of you who wonder the same thing, here is my little review for you!

    • @cosmiciron
      @cosmiciron ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fretBeastForever you’re welcome! As a portable practice/recording tool, I feel that the Pocket GT is still unmatched with the exception of the Spark Mini. While the Mini is a little shy in its number of effects and tweak-ability, it is close enough with its sound quality and dynamics (just remember to turn of the noise gates). IT’s headphones output after firmware upgrade is also quite decent. While it’s not nearly as portable, for home use it’s quite okay. You can easily move around with it and practice anywhere you want. It’s speaker output is quiet enough to not disturb anyone and serves as a pretty decent Bluetooth rig for listening to music. If I’m traveling I might actually end up bringing the Mini since it can easily fit in my suitcase. The advantage of it is that in a pinch you can actually perform with it to a tiny audience- you know people are going to ask “is that a guitar you are carrying?” Right? :p Its added weight also makes it more stable in the table when used with a headphone while sitting - one of the reasons that made me looking for an alternative to the Pocket GT.

      A problem I'm having with this plug is crosstalk in recording (for bass). I'm using audio evolution mobile on an android tablet and have previously been using a Zoom B2.1u or a Beringer interface as audio interface.
      With the Nux though, I like the sounds I can get, seems much brighter sounds are possible over the Zoom and the cabs sound a lot better but I get the other tracks like the drums bleeding into the recording of bass tracks which I don't get at all with the zoom or Beringer. Using the Nux for the sound and the Beringer as the interface works well but it kinda makes half the Nux redundant.
      Maybe I'm doing something wrong because I've not seen anyone else mention the problem but I can't seem to find any settings to fix it.

  • @Alex_Martz

    Bluetooth headphones is NOT a desirable feature because of the LATENCY induced! this has been mentioned countless times!, the unit in itself as an amazingly low roundtrip latency of less than 2 milliseconds, no need to ruin that with bluetooth headphones or speakers!

      It really depends on what you are using it for and what features you need. The 5150 Iconics aren't much more than that, and really deliver on pretty much anything you could want from a high gain amp IME. But honestly, if you are just looking for something to plug in and jam on that will most likely keep up with your drummer.... It's hard to pass up one of the mini amps. I just got the bogner, and it freaking RIPS.

      Watch the video "where does the tone come from in a guitar amp?" It blew my mind. Short version is, they're all 99.9% identical and the difference is in the EQ and cab. Tube type, rectifier type, topography, it's crazy how much the usual factors don't really make a difference. My advice, get any cheap tube head (Stage Right is surprisingly good) and a big rackmount 1/3 octave EQ. More tones from that $400 setup than a warehouse of priceless amps, without digital modeling.
