I think the rebels are in a good space with the new updates personally. And sleeper cell can really throw out more damage. Also more updates are coming so excited to see what else they change.
its nice to see another version. the rebels focussing on the objectives while suffering heavy losses, but still being able to hold on, and the republic trying to eliminate. those passes made it also interesting, and you are ablo to react a little more ez with them. still really close game. it was nice to watch. ps: i finally caught up to the vids... that was a long run
That was really fun to watch. Sorry for Don's close loss there. It underlines how much more important than ever before playing the objectives is now, though. Rex & Anakin against a bunch of t shirts looks like a walk in the park at first glance, but just like in the original movies, those pesky kids pull it out of the bag in the end...
Love love love the rebels. Great game guys. Even with the activation parody i was still saying pass, pass, pass to Don. Ani 501st seems to be the tyrannosaurus in the park, cant wait to see Don get on that monster and really learn how to ride it! Thanks for all you do for the community! You guys are the BEST!!
I played a very similar game, republic vs rebel where I killed all but the unit leader on 3 different Ewok squads but then at the end at least 2 of those unit leaders were still alive and able to score. It's rough when you don't wipe the unit if you are running low activation lists because you don't have the extra guns/time to spend on shooting 1 model.
Rebels - the Thinking Player's faction. THIS is how Rebels have to play, to win, by focusing on the objectives and finding some way to stay alive long enough to get to 12. (Oh and you totally messed up the armor on those speeders). I used to put targeting scopes on as many Rebel units as possible in the old Legion and it really made a difference in that format. Put them somewhere they can get an aim, like hiding behind an AT-RT, and let them defend a vaporator.
I 100% just straight forgot armor until later. Then I call it out and fix it :) for some reason was treating them like a speeder bike lol. Thanks! -Joe

I have loved the 501st battle force! Anakin and ARCs getting fully reworked makes it a super aggressive in your face run up and hit them style that I enjoy. I'm not sure if avoiding coordinated bombardment round one at the expense of closing the distance was worth it, but that's the only big blunder I'd say personally. Breakthrough is one of my favorite objectives so far especially with everything having charge.

I really hope Rex gets a nice upgrade with the new cards. Anakin is a monster, rightfully so. Rebels are tough to play right now imo. White dice just can't hold up, even with new cover potentially blocking more incoming damage.
I don’t know if he needs one anymore. The new rules really elevated him. Scout is much stronger, cover is not as strong, and that all plays into him along with being able to share tokens at range 2. Thanks! -Joe
What a close game! Pass and flip shall live forever. At the end of round 2 Joe should not have scored a victory point for the POI that Anakin was by. Anakin was contesting the point. You only score the point in friendly territory if it is not contested.
I got the 501st battleforce bix right before New Legion launched and Im very excited to give it a try with the new rules. Pass pass passing is going to be super helpful against high activation lists.
I wanted to see rebels win because that's what I play, but I also wanted to see Don get a win in Legion against Joe. It was great that it was so close at the end, with all the pass pass pass action as well.
Great game as always! The pass, pass, pass option for low activation lists seems like a good low activation count mitigation, however, you really need to play those objectives (still haven't learned them yet 🙂)

As a GAR player to someone who hasn't played GAR much, I think one thing Don needed to leverage a bit more was engagement on Rex side. With both ARCs and Commandos throwing the same in melee as they do at range, I think he could have abused the engagement rules to tear up Joe's troopers while being unable to get shot by the landspeeders. Even Rex probably would have been better to move into melee and punch and then the Call Me Captain play he would have been unable to be shot but can still add his dice. Also pass pass pass, if you didn't see a rebel list with 21 acts made top 4 at a larger tourney recently (only made top cut due to another rebel player dropping tho)
That was a lot of Pass Tokens. Though I find Pass Tokens have diminishing returns in later rounds. They are great for making sure an opponent can’t just counter deploy you. But once you get into the thick of it, you’re less inclined to use them. As to Breakthrough. I find that to be the least favorable mission for both Clones and Droids, unless you specifically build for it. Clones, because it spreads your smaller activation army too thin. And Droids, because you’ll almost certainly overextend for AI or Coordinate. For both Clones and Droids, I find I prefer Close the Pocket, Bunker Assault, and Intercept Signals. They let the armies fully benefit from their rules. I’d take Recover the Research, but preferably avoid Shifting Priorities and Breakthrough.
great video! on the clones i think the list was suboptimal. The DC in the big squad in my opinion is wasted 37 points - you want to go face with them (clone commander is for sure the better choice + would allow also the commandos to take hq uplink for order control). also a medic i think in the core is something that every clone army is running, restoring a commando or arc is just so much gas! Close game and well played!
Wrong mission for clones, but good game I think you missed a temped when some arcs died. You dodged some hv shots but it happens good game, I hate seeing Don lose but I love to see Gar lose.
I think there was a time or two when thinking about moving that you forgot that POIs give heavy cover. Don 100% should have pass pass passed on playing Breakthrough :P
50:23 all your units would have indomitable permanently as the respective units keep it as long as they were in range 2 when it was played. They don’t need to keep inside range 2.
I will double check that but I don’t believe that is right. Anakin and/or Rex have that ability for the rest of the game but units still need to maintain range two to benefit from it. Thanks! -Joe

For myself I get invested when it feels like a player got the wrong end of a rule mistake and mentioning how I understand the rule in the comments is the best thing I can do to try to prevent it from happening again. Some channels started posting text on the screen that they got it wrong. While that prevents rules lawyering I imagine it reduces the comments which I think y’all want right?

Oh no... Rebels vs Republic is bad enough, but 501st. Preemptive pre-watch predicting I'm going to be sad and Rebels will lose. I had to stop at work and calculate cause I was confused about the calling it. But then realized what you mean. I haven't had many games with pass tokens. Can you not pass the first turn? I heard a passing remark about being unable to pass at the start of one of the rounds. We're all learning round 0 and what works for lists. So doing bad on turn 0 isn't surprising. I've never even played Breakthrough but I feel as a Rebel player maybe I should?
I think gunslinger with up close & personal only gives one dodge now since you’re just adding a target to an attack and not actually attacking twice. Could be wrong though

ARC now have scale, so they are unhindered! I think they need the clone commanders in the units to really make them pop.

20:35 your clone commandos is using gun with high velocity, no dodging allowed (nasty). Doesn't affect anything since they only see one.

If I have more then one friendly unit at range 2 and in LOS. Can I use aims, dodge and surges from both or only one?

I would have forgot about tempted for sure, and possibly but he had the arcs on the speeders in a good spot most of the time
Great game. 501st are so fun to play. I think you may have missed a tempted on Anakin but otherwise played very well with an unfamiliar faction.
