This has got me so motivated to get back into my proper morning and night skincare regime and use all the brilliant products in my cabinets and draws. I know my skin always feels so much better when I take proper care of it yet my laziness means I've been ignoring my current dry, winter-chapped skin with tonnes of clogged pores. Going to do a thorough cleanse and face mask right this minute and follow it with serum and moisturiser! ✨✨

I loved this! I'm 25 and I really want to take better care of my skin. Do you think you could do make a day and night routine with your products and show you know which order to put things on your face. If there is an order? As well as anything you wouldn't combine in one skin care routine? I know you're super busy so if you cant get to it no worries💕

With that hyaluronic acid serum that you aren’t keeping, hyaluronic acid is something that cannot be used in more than about 2%. At 4% it’s the texture of a cheap hair gel, and more than that you start reaching the point where there’s not enough water for the HA to actually absorb, & it will stay powdered. So even though most serums have it low on the list, that doesn’t mean there’s not enough of it 😊
This makes SO much sense! The HA products I love DO have it much lower on their lists but they are far more effective! xxx

Melanie! I finally went through my clothes and was so brutal about it (from your last clear out video). Definitely a cleansing thing to do and such an achievement. I need to get some new stuff but plan on using sustainable brands to get these items. Thank you for being the kick up the arse I needed, love from Scotland 💚

As a fellow ghostly pale gal, I shall be trying that dove tanning moisturiser, have been on the look out for a natural glowy tan for paler skintones for a while now. Thanks Melanie x
I think since you are pale it will look amazing on you. I am not pale, but during winter my legs are and it ended up looking sickingly yellow on me. Also, careful with your bedsheets if they are white because it tends to stain them, also the palms of your hands and your heels
I confess I was so excited when you gave a shoutout to Soap and Glory. Their original lotion and facewash are two go-to's for me and I LOVE the smell. Kept me from exploring other lotions since I love the smell and seems to be one of the few lotions to help with my chicken skin :)
I love La Roche-Posay so under rated, sometime you just need to go back to basics and this brand is great for that. Just an FYI Dr Sam is a derm in the UK she has a TH-cam channel 😊

This was so fun, Melanie! I have no real interest in skincare. My skin has always been relatively clear and if I'm breaking out, I know, that I ate to much sugar or unhealthy stuff. I put on sunscreen in summer and moisturise in winter. I own one face cream and one body lotion, but despite my absolute lack of knowledge and interest, I loved watching how passionate you are about this topic :D
I love listening to your voice no matter what but I particularly love the decluttering videos!

loved this video and i agree with you 100% la roche-posay products are the best, i love there hand repair cream it really help the dry skin on my hands for all the hand washing and using sanitiser over the last 2 years.
I saw someone sand and stain that exact set of drawers and the end product looked like an antique mahogany library card catalogue drawer! Seems like your aesthetic 💛

Dr Sam bunting is a dermatologist in London who started her own brand a few years ago to take the guess work out of mixing actives she also has her own TH-cam channel talking bout skincare and she has a number of videos talking about her products.

Melanie , does your skincare change in Summers? Do you use retinoids in hot weather? I have sensitive like a baby , tight/dehydrated combination acne prone aging skin. Any recommendations or advice would be helpful ?
I don't typically comment on skincare videos because I am so *not* an expert on skincare, but I just wanted to echo your love for La Roche Posay. I also hate how many words there are on the packaging (and how small they are). I always feel like it takes 3x as long for me to find the product I'm looking for as it would with any other brand. That being said, I have rather finicky skin that is sensitive and can be both dry and acne-prone, and La Roche Posay is one of the few brands that has consistently worked for me. No breakouts, no skin irritation, no weird rashes! I especially love their moisturizers and serums.

This was so relaxing to watch! I think you would really like Dr Sam, Caroline Hirons is friendly with her and has recommened some products. I lover her retinol serum. Only one that doesn't irritate my skin.

There is usually a symbol of a pot with a number in it or above it that tells you how long to keep products for.

I find it so interesting to see what sort of products other people use/no longer use that were once a daily use for them. My skincare routine is and always has been really basic, so it amazes me to see this amount of product😂
La Roche Posey’s pared down branding was almost definitely chosen deliberately. I‘d go as far as to say that in recent years, there has been a veritable trend towards skincare in white, “clean“-looking packaging (see Cerave, the Ordinary) because we often associate it with purity (ingredients) and medicine/medical research (effectiveness). Sure, it may draw a different customer and not look as luxurious, but it’s marketing all the same.
Yes, many French skincare brands do this (Avene, etc). In France, you find them in pharmacies actually, they appear both as cosmetics and medicine.

I used Dr Sam's and had really good luck with the system. Haven't purchased again as pricey, but were simple in terms of a routine and really made my skin glow/kept it clear!

Hi Melanie, I have normalish skin with some fine lines. My go to products are hydralyron hyaluronic acid serum, Inkey list Peptide moisturiser and the Inkey list retinol serum, Cerave PM moisturiser. Hate highly perfumed products. Also I love rich thick oils and creams a few times a week as an overnight mask type thing.

Might be too late but I just recently found out John Lewis take old packaging and recycle them. You even get a voucher to use on other products.

I love the la roche posay products but I also hate that all the products look the same. I recently mixed up my deodorant stick and moisturising stick when I was on holiday so I spent a solid 3 days using the moisturising stick on my armpits and wondering why I got stinky so fast T-T

I already have the cicaplast baume in my cart and it's taking everything in me to use what I have before I buy new stuff.
I'm watching this as someone who's on their second month of Roaccutane... and when I say I have bought MANY products to combat the dryness, I mean it's taken over my flat and bank account 😂 So much so I have sworn to stop for awhile, but this video has re-set off the skincare addiction. What's one more serum between friends?

Have heard that the Dr Sam products are meant to be good for acne prone aging skin, really gentle apparently. Dr Sam is a skincare TH-camr also.
Skincare is suuuuuuuuper confusing to me, but I still enjoyed the video! I am one of those people that has tried to follow a routine, ends up with big whitehead spots, and abandons it - only thing that seems to work is SPF lol

You should really try a brand called “voya” they’re from ireland, organic and seaweed based, it’s amazing!
Ooohh I actually used a stretch mark preventing oil by them during pregnancy 😍 it was pricey so switched to coconut oil but LOVED it!
When you said Portugal I thought of Algarve, because british and irish people love to go there in the summer! I am portuguese, by the way ;)
Hahaha it’s actually close to there that I stayed for a month! My first long term boyfriend’s father had a family home in a fishing village and I felt so ‘foreign’ there but not in the Algarve! There were so many tourists! ❤️

Just to say, you mention you have dry skin but I'm pretty sure the Genefique has Denatured alcohol in it quite high up the ingredients list? I remember looking into it because Lily Collins promotes it and I love her hahaa (I have to check all of my ingredients on inci lists because I'm so acne prone 🤦🏻♀️) - I wondered if you found this drying at all?

I love this kind of video and would enjoy watching for every possible category of thing! ahah also love La Roche Posay, I got everybody I know hooked on skincare because of the results they could see, and am now very cautios (borderline scared) to try other brands! Just ordered a cream from cerave because I was going through my lrp one too fast for the cost, wish me luck!
You have So Many Products just in that pre-wedding drawer! I am overwhelmed, I must say... I would have no idea how to use all that. I'm assuming you use multiple products a day, but how? In what order? I like maybe use 2 things at a time. Mostly out of ignorance.
I wouldn’t use all of the chosen things in one day! Say the mud mask - once a week tops! They are just products that I know will get my skin looking as healthy as possible when used regularly 🥰
I love Marian keyes too but she does get botox regularly and I think that helps with the bouncy skin ❤️

I'm getting married in a week and honestly my hair and skin have been pretty good my hair has always been in good condition but i'd say being on top of conditioning and vitamin D has really helped!.... i've just upped the anti for my skin and made sure i'm moisturising enough/ trying to drink plenty of water. My exercise routine however has gone out the window 😢 Who's idea was it to reschedule a wedding in the middle of winter? :')

Dr Sam's is a skincare line by Irish dermatologist Dr Sam Bunting who also makes videos on TH-cam :) I think she has a skincare clinic based in London but not sure.
I was generally not that concerned with skincare in my twenties , but now I'm 32 . I have this obsession with hiding any pimple . I don't really like wearing much makeup for me it's just lipstick and eyeliner most of the time . Do you have any tips for me .

Also I been trying to dress more sexy these days , but I have difficulty in finding the confidence to show much skin . I wear shorts in the summer but really want to try sundresses and backless tops . My girlfriend has this ability to just be so confident , why can't I be like that .

If you would like to know of sheet masks that are very minimal with packaging, let me know. There’s a brand I get that a) is feckin’ AMAZING for the skin, b) gives you a bloody ton of sheet masks in ONE package, and c) the masks themselves are 100% cotton, thus biodegradeable. I buy like, one pack per year. It lasts so long. You would not be disappointed. I don’t know whether or not they ship to Ireland (as far as I know, the site I get them from ships globally), but I could link you so you could them out. 💚

Every time I watch one of these I'm sad because I will never be able to afford to have so many skin care products and the vastness of choice here gives me anxiety, would you ever make a video with like 3-5 absolute essentials that are quite affordable? I really would like to start taking care of my skin but I feel like it's so much effort to research and plan that I don't even bother trying

Watching this I was reminded of myself... One person definitely doesn't need that many products cause as said in the video we only have one face so there is almost no way will go though all thus stuff before it goes bad so what is it love or greed or both?
As I explained I’ve ended up on so many pr lists - almost as if I’m a magazine with all kinds of staff to trial all these products! This is simply what I’ve kept, most of the PR never makes it to my collection and is given away. It feels so wasteful … but also these packages simply arrive, with no return address, 95% of the time the brand doesn’t ask me if I actually want to receive the items. It creates so much waste that I need to dispose of! That’s why in the video for example I was asking It Cosmetics not to send me items (I kept those thinking I might try them but I’m always too ambitious, my one face knows what it likes!) xxx
