- Welcome to a game called Blank Frame, a 1st person adventure with quite the peculiar plot. We play as Henri, a person who finds himself stuck in his own apartment thanks to something blocking his doorway. He's alone and needs to figure a way out of the situation he's in, but it comes at a price. Henri soon learns he's not so alone afterall.

Game's straight outta silent hill and the last part is straight outta Fatal Frame.
Probably subtle or somewhat on the face but not immediately considering the last segment of the game and Fatal Frame uses cameras to defeat the monsters.

I think the game is supposed to be a metaphor for depression. Henri's locked in his apartment because the thing that crashes through his ceiling is depression. He can go back to sleep and hope things are better in the morning or he can ask for help. The cabinet might have represented thoughts of suicide hence the blood and the rope represented either giving up (a noose) or getting help (a rope to pull himself up). The camera battle might be battling depression by filling his life with pictures so his life is no longer a "blank frame".

Henri also needed his crush’s help to get rid of the depression.
@@shutomasi You might say that knocking on the wall was a call for help, and then the window barely opening was his own mind making it hard to trust in others... which is way it suddenly opens up later, when he feels a bit more open to her.
On top of the other great explanations here, I think I realized why the camera is the weapon. you beat the monster using the camera because you're fighting the possibility of a life with blank frames by taking photos to fill them! Aka you're choosing to live a meaningful life that produces great memories worth framing! Hence, no more blank frame once he steps out and lives!

like this theory and adding to it. so the game is an entity testing if your worth letting to live and letting make the memories by showing you what your apartment would look like (aka the floor above you) if you didnt do anything to it so basicly time travel but you can change the future its complex but im gonna explain a couple of points. so everytime the game shows you something for example the hanged ava in the peep hole and with your actions you change the future this also explains why the room above you has the same key
also maybe ava repeating would mean her getting severe mind stuff going on and hangs herself because of them. and since you change the future by meeting ava or something sorts she doesnt. pls devs why have i written an essay on this story

I have been watching him for seven years
My interpretation of this game is that the player went through a tragedy, being that his late girlfriend may have hung herself (shown by the rope in the cabinet) on the fourth floor. And his grieving led to him becoming a peeping Tom (shown by all of the erotic magazine and the mature acts around town). The fact that the fourth floor room looked so similar to his, could be because he had lived up there with his girlfriend. I know that is probably very wrong, but that's my interpretation.
And him dealing with the monster and going out with Aava could be him finally coming to terms with his grief and moving on with his life.

To me they are both dead.
Aava is Finnish means ghost.
The guy keeps acting like the reason he doesn't leave or communicate with the outside world is bc he is depressed or recluse.
They haunt their respective places and when she went outside she was degrading.
After being back at her place she was good again.
Ghost are often depicted as shaddow of themselves in many cultures they can only be stuck in loops and reenacting things they used to do irl hence the repeating and mimicking.
They can't Interfact directly or be seen by humans unless they are mediums or in a secondary state like asleep/unconscious/drunk/drugged etc.
Just like the girl who tossed a bottle at him.
Like in Sixth sense they aren't aware they are dead and when they can't leave someplace or can't go somewhere they always have an imaginary excuse as to why.
No phones working, busy outside but the moment she goes outside she can't see anyone there as if to give her a reason a why she can't talk to anyone or can't get help.
She went outside and when to the grill.
But she couldn't find anyone to talk to even when it's open, lights are on and there were ppl there just before.
Who goes and get help and just falls asleep on the counter when getting help urgently ?
Anyone would just go knocking at the staff door after a while since it's an emergency.
Her appartement clock shows she was gone an hour.
Conveniently she draws a blank and doesnt have a good reason for why she was gone so long and why she didn't get help.
And she thinks 'oh I can't figure out why, must have dozed off ''
Makes no sense.
He also can't account for the time to him he didn't wait that long, his clock says 1.
So he has like her a distorted view of time and his environment reflects it.
However she is not at her appartement at that time and this cannot haunt it thus the environment is normal and the clock shows its 2 o clock.
He realises it and when he fixes it on his end it's like he faces reality for bit and sees her as she is when she comes back.
The long neck window demon might be some spirit reaper, that's why he comes after them only.
I think because he fought the reaper instead of leaving through the door agtert opening the window, he didn't get soul snatched.
I guess the demon would've entered at this point.
When he slept he saw the ghost green eyes that went red, which he already stated aava has bright green eyes.
Bc in the end the hanged spirit has green eyes and a green long skirt except it's dirty. Familiar isn't ?
Also the TV ?? Knocking is how you contact spirits too.
The neighbor's name is inta which mean gross.
I'm willing to bet that when the mc looks through the peepwhole he sees what happened before and not now.
Inta might have attacked her and she couldn't deal so then she hanged herself.
They then condemned the whole floor and didn't rent it out anymore.
She was living upstairs and that's how she got in, she's a ghost and that key story is bs.
Maybe she wasn't living upstairs but went to take pics for her hobby and was dragged by inta above and chose to hang herself there.
When inta comes back later when she's upstairs, she says she will be fine and is suddenly not in danger anymore bc he can't do anything to her she's already gone.
This is probably whytge MC can't communicate with him, not bc the man is old and almost deaf but bc they are ghosts.
The old man heard the radio ruckus and came to complain but it was a one way communication.
Him taking pictures reveals reality, ( picture thing was also aava hobby anothe ling from the hanged ghost to her) like when aava took some pics of the apartment above to give to him.
They don't see reality theythink the appartement is fine and got but blue curtains but the pics show broken windows so he doesn't understand and thinks she took a photo of the wrong place.
As if she could get confused about litteraly taken a pic of the window above his head.
When he goes up, he is confronted with reality, the appartement has broken windows.
When he gets upstairs, aava is oh so coincidentally gone and the hanged spirit appears.
He takes pic of the hanged spirit.
Revealing reality and stopping the decay of their spirits into denial of their deaths and so they don't become vengeful spirits.
When it's defeated aava is back and normal again.
And they leave into a bright light.
Basically their souls have been freed.
The way they said it and the fact you get a choice to leave or stay, like basically stay haunting the place or pass on.

Note sure if you noticed or not but at the end with Ava in the doorway the apartment behind her said 32. Now this could mean room 32 on the 4th floor but from the motels and hotels that I've been to the room number always starts with the floor number.
It may just be an apartment building with no apartments on the ground floor. So from 1F (or 2F for non-brits) it just counts up from 1 which would cause the 4th floor to have rooms starting with 3.
My theory: suicidal guy meets girl that wants to help him "get out". The thing Henri was taking pictures of, wasn't only his hobby that Avaa helped him with, but he was getting rid of the demons in his head. The hanging girl? Maybe someone he knew that took a toll on his mental health? The cabinet? Also, an obstacle keeping him from getting out. The apartment? It WAS Henry's apartment, but he was in a new stage of....getting out?

I mean, it's a complete win-win situation which is totally awesome !
It definitely has the feel of the apartment portions of Silent Hill 4, especially finding creepy or warped parts of the building and reality. It was an interesting watch, never quite knew what would happen next.
And the monster literally being from Silent Hill 2/3.

an interesting concept for a game for sure
though I see some selfish people below saying "finish dying light finish dying light, other youtubers finished it, you should finish it first before any other gameplay finish the game"
1. we as the audience aren't in control of how Ryan plays or what he decides to play
2. recordings since I should know since on my gaming channel it's the same, some are recorded IN ADVANCED meaning this could've already been recorded beforehand and saved since it TAKES TIME TO EDIT VIDEOS! For me, an hour long video can take a whole day up to the next day to be ready and never mind the rendering and uploading that takes time as well.
3. if he WANTS to play other games let him, my goodness, let the man have fun.
4. As said let him have fun, youtube isn't just people's career but problem is people made it also that way as if you all have the right to DEMAND that he should do something before anything else. TH-cam I remember when it was fun, people uploaded what they wanted and people enjoyed it the end. There was no pressure.
5. I don't know who died and made all of you the judges of what he plays. Just because you want to be impatient going "but but but other's finished the game, others finished it, he's taking too damn long!" yeah good for them, good for other youtubers, if you really actually care for Ryan.....LET HIM DO THINGS IN HIS OWN TIME!! this is how mental health comes into factor here, because people DEMAND people EXPECT youtubers to rush out and IMMEDIATELY do things for their sake instead of their mantle health
6. it is NOT AT ALL uncommon for a youtuber to play a game a series....and then play other games on the side. How do I know? Gee cause Markiplier has done the same with major games, even Jacksepticeye has done the same AND EVEN STATED HIMSELF that those videos take time to edit, to render, to upload, so in the mean time for content sake so you guys have something to watch, will record other series. And seeing how this was less edited it's easier to push out less edited content then it is edited content in general

This style of games, this, Lost in Vivo, Silent Hhill and all other games like it are why i love horror games. Horror isn't just for scares, it can also be a way of telling the developer his/her true feelings, just like an art piece or a song.

I just realized something the number on the door at the ending scene is 31 so it's on the third floor but henri's apartment is on the third floor since he said that on top of his apartment is the fourth floor I don't know how useful this information is so if anyone understands what it means tell me cause I want to know

Both are incredible at what they do, but do it in very different ways!
For example, Manly is always looking for details, while Ryan kinda goes through with a more upbeat attitude, so you get different experiences... Ryan didnt notice the closet had the same "hang in there picture" since he took the noose quite quickly. I was shouting at the screen haha

*let me tell you a story: for a little while i want to make a game very similar to this, a fusion of silent hill and final frame (project 0) but without deaths, without jump scares, puzzles, very creepy and something more... the fear of starting for the start. the game will not have death but the fear that you will die and i have the thought that to emphasize so the player thinks will he have to start over, this dev have the same thought*
*and probably symbolize the stuck people get some point in your life and that every time you need to fight your fears, obstacles and ask for help to see the light to the future*

First of all, the game talks and is about depression and Henri (the main character) is the one that suffers it
The giant block that falls through the fourth floor into our apartment and blocks our front door is a symbolism of depression and how it isolates us from others
Aava may be a symbolism of Henri getting better from the depression and the monster we see may be the opposite; su*cide
Also I think that the knife that Henri throws out of the window means self-h*rming, he cut himself with it and even though he said it was unintentional it may be a symbolism
Of course I don't know any of this for sure but it's my interpretation of this game :)

My interpretation of this game is threat henri was the rapist from the news report but Is trying to change his ways but some of his old personality remained like the peeping on his neighbour and watching adult movies and the monster represents those thoughts trying to come back but henri fights them and in the end changes his ways and becomes a better person.
