As an actual victim of IRS theft and incompetence, I can attest this is not close to reality. Reality is far worse than this parody. When you do get ahold of them (they do selectively answer especially if you commit (dangerous) to paying) you get conflicting answers and advice that will send you to jail or with an empty bank account (the banks get their cut first). Had to pay a $43.50 "Civil Penalty" for taxes I did owe because the IRS took 11 months to process my return. They are crooks with massive power and they don't care about you or doing their jobs....

Very true the agents are not in the office. Been in litigation with IRS for too many years. Covid became an excuse for them. Arrogant, condescending agents have schooled me in person as well as phone conversations. You must prove yourself innocent via registered mail and go through a quagmire of never ending arrivals.

It's also more widely applicable, as even before the "Plan-demic", Gov't workers in Washington D.C. often have very generous "work from home" schedules.
I personally know of one Treasury worker who was supposed to coordinate a CATV installation in his Federal building. He neither answered calls, e-mail, nor Skype for 3 solid days.

It took me months of calling prior to tax season to discover that sending a fax to the IRS and waiting for a mailed response was the fastest method for resolving the issue. A fax. To a number not listed anywhere in the main instructions but buried in small text on the second page of legalese.

    • @bloodgain
      @bloodgain 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

That's hilarious. I remember the short-lived call-in tax filing, which I used a couple of times when I had jobs as a teen and could still file a simple 1040-EZ. IIRC, it had a fax option. That was less odd in 1999, but still dying out.

@@bloodgain This was 2022...and seriously delayed some important task dependent on them rubber stamping a common action.
The worst part was trying to use their website which made you go through a series of questions, said, oh, you want that, denied, call this number. that number then sent you through more automated questions before giving a similar message about not being able to accept the call and just hangs up on you.
It wasn't until i consider mailing that i found the fax option. mailing was expected to take 4-8 weeks.

That's what I did, the spring that COVID shut down the IRS. I gave up on receiving my tax return, and instead instructed my employer to stop withholding taxes for the next year. What would work better for transparency and ethics in distribution of funding would be for everything to be funded by donation and the idea of taxation being scrapped altogether. In ancient Rome, Caesar would give PUBLIC lands to poor people. Whatever they yielded they gave a portion back to Caesar. "Give unto Caesar what is Caesars." Constitutionally, the federal lands sold by the states to the United States were still considered public lands. The officers, chosen by the state, and commissioned by the President were to live on the federal lands. Federal pay was minimal so the Officers were allowed to farm, ranch, distill liquors, etc. on the federal lands-- BUT THE TAX, In the constitution was a portion of the yield the officers yielded from the public lands. Give unto the People what is the Peoples. A tax on the yield of the public lands. Historically, federally commissioned officers didn't make much, they were not allowed to have off post private jobs, they were military and were suppose to remain (live and work) on the federal lands, military posts cannot be unmanned or they are abandoned. So they were allowed to suppliment their income from the public federal lands, and yield back a portion to the federal government.
Imposts- a tax on things they bring onto the post.
Excise -a tax on things they take off the post.
THAT IS THE ONLY TAXATION IN THE CONSTITUTION.
THE CONSTITUTION DOES NOT APPLY OFF FEDERAL LANDS‼️‼️
Peep my 📺 for the officers manual and MUCH more‼️

Yeah The IRS has terrible customer service, especially with appointments. You show up in person and they say call to schedule.

Called multiple times, Still haven't gotten through.
They also don't call back and you can't hold. They just hang up on you.

No kidding in the last two weeks I literally was doing this same thing and crying that the IRS kept kicking me off the phone. So the problem is do I pay money I shouldn't and hope to get them to pay my back later or do I risk the million dollars of late fees and penalties trying to argue about it.

The IRS owes my fathers estate a refund for several years. They just keep sending a letter saying they need a little more time. Is it ever gonna happen?

Irs: you have 1 week to pay up or go to jail.
Also Irs: give us until at least October to pay up the money we owe you, if by then you don't see it, don't worry we'll extend the date by another 3 months or more.
I hate the irs, my new goal in life is to now at tax season have my owes/refund be at ZERO! So I don't have to duck with this shit anymore!

During covid we ran into this problem and it took over half a year to figure out something dumb. Worst customer service ever! I was thinking if it had been a private company I'm pretty sure it would have been braking laws.

Me and my old neighbor bought our homes a month apart. He got his new homebuyer tax credit in a month. I had to wait 13 months and only got it after complaining to their taxpayer advocacy service which was basically a place within the IRS to report the IRS. They had to send two years worth of refunds in one check. I had my money in two weeks. Kill the dinosaur.

I got my CP11 on May 3rd. Saying I owed an additional $4500 because of the $1000 child tax credit advances. Of course they didn't calculate the $3500 check they cashed on 4/26... and yes I get that same message.

had to call the irs multiple times last year to get my taxes fixed. i had to call the minute they opened and automaticaly got put ona 90 minute hold. by 30minutes after openign they say all slots are alocated and it hangs up on you no voicemail, no call back, nothing.
