I would be more embarrassed if a company uses the video in an ad to promote their products then decide the video is not advertiser friendly. Google has become a total joke now.
I'm so happy you're still making these videos. They're some of my favorites as well; oddly relaxing in a way. It really is a shame some people can't appreciate this style of video, so TH-cam gears the algorithm away from it. I just hope you continue to make great videos despite the adverse conditions of the platform.
Revisiting this one and I think I’m finding “Been A While”to be my favorite of these displays. The vibrant greens and color saturation really sold it for me.
The world is round????? See..., that’s why we need your channel on TH-cam..... we learn something new with every video! (Lol!) Love your channel and love your videos. All of them. Have a great day!
Hey Leo, I'm very grateful that you're not gonna stop fighting with Google. Thanks for continuing to make content for all of us when you've been through so much with this stupid demonitization Bot.
WOW ! What a terrific model train video of St.Lukes Model Train Exhibition ! First Class ! Your narration is terrific and exciting. The rolling stock and background buildings and scenery Top Drawer. I assume a lot of the trains are built in the UK (or Europe) and are high quality. Legoland is outstanding and historic with the old pieces. The "New South Wales" trains and scenery are an excellent example of the true Australian Outback and could be in a museum. I am sure the young railroad tykes enjoy this exhibition and the older ones too. The height is perfect for children to observe the trains. I, myself, enjoyed the length of your video and with all the detail could have watched longer. Don't be afraid to run 15 to 20 minutes. Your videos are not boring, they are fun. I think TH-cam is going through a "let's make as much money as we can" phase right now. Greetings from the States ! You Aussies are the Best !
Interesting story for you about the brand Kato. I build 009 (or hoe) scale layouts. I try to give my stuff a "professional" feel but I don't have the money to buy loads of 009 track from Europe and have it shipped all the way to the states. I ran across Kato track at my local model shop and was looking at the ties. They were spaced out around triple the space of normal N scale track. I bought a pack of it and tested it out with my 009 stock and found it worked perfect and didn't look out of place. Also, Kato track is dead easy to use. They have great little system and I really was suprised!
Once when I was 10 I was a friend of someone running a train show and I got to drive 2 trains at once! Splendid video Leo :) and don't be afraid of my attention span. I always watch your videos no longer how long!
I have that N gauge Thomas! Got it for my b-day a few years back. It had some issues, but taking the axel assembly seems to have fixed it. Whenever I run it at my local model shop, people always point at it. It’s pretty funny watching their reactions. :P
That large N scale layout had me fooled, looking at those Thomas and Friends characters had me thinking they were Bachmann HO scale and they had a little HO circuit on the inside but I was wrong.
6:21 A few years ago, I saw a Tomix N scale Henry running on a public N scale Layout, and I wanted one ever since! The layout I saw hnery at also had their N scale henry derail a lot! sometimes models look better in person than they do on a screen or paper! 12:34 Lego in the US has an RRP of $160, but I think most stores would sell it for $150 to $130! I have to agree that Dunbrlurtin looks amazing!
Been a long time since I last went to a model railway exhibition. Do need to go and see one again. Almost forgot about Hornby's Live Steam, rather short lived. Also heard that they're no longer carrying the Thomas license due to many reasons (like the ever annoying Health and Safety laws as well as lack of interest in the line). Though I do wish one of these 00 gauge companies would make branch line locomotives and carriages as its something they haven't properly touched on yet. But yeah, a interesting watch there Leo. May tune into part 2.
When I shot this video was around the time when Hornby dropped the Thomas line. What I noticed was the crazy high prices on this line, in some cases it was double the cost of a non Thomas piece of rolling stock. In the few stores that were selling Hornby Thomas lines it was all dust collecting. But overall it really feels like the model trains are not selling like they used to. It seems these days children rarely get into a train set that can be built up and added to. It takes up space, costs money and video games are all the rage. With the advent of amazing train simulators and endless free apps that do the same who needs model railways? They are old school.
Leo I'm a child of today it is not video games that make us not want it that some parent's can't but them cuz there to much money I have only had 4 train set given to me and for that kids have to fine something else that is fun, as of that some kids do get jobs to buy trains but most can't. I hope this helps you some on kids of today
Oh, hi, Euan. I was watching your uploads of the War of the Worlds CGI shots just earlier today. With the Thomas stuff, really, Hornby just can't compete with how much effort Bachmann put in. It was Bachmann who were making a proper RTR Sterling Single long before Heljan, even it was Emily, and not a prototype. Honestly, the best thing they did was can the line. Yeah, Leo, I see what you mean about sims, but they don't really hold a candle to actually using a working model. Besides, some of the DLC for those games can cost the same as a second hand engine, something you can physically hold. The prices are just inhibitive, at this point, plus the space requirements for it. Damn, I'm still using a camp bed, with my desk under it, just so I can have a decent sized train board out. (6x4 feet, or something like that)
minecrafter tracey01 I think you are correct. The cost of trains, track, accessories, buildings, scale cars has gone out of control. I remember when I could buy train engines and buildings with my allowance or birthday money. Not now.
The last model train exhibition I went to was in February 2017, in Phoenix, Arizona. I saw some pretty good stuff. Different from you might be used to since USA but still great stuff I always explore the 2nd hand stores.
I exhibited my unfinished N layout at a local show a few months back (there's a vid floating somewhere on youtube) and I'll say I was terrified. I had one failure over the course of the day and it was a royal pain to get resolved quickly, I had to essentially rework my train schedule on the fly. That and I noticed how much placement matters, when placed next to something like a toy grade O gauge set up that's made to run for days without issue those small hiccups seem virtually catastrophic.
Love seeing more Tomix Thomas stuff running on youtube. I have Percy and Thomas myself and they are superb model trains. It's just a damn shame they're only available in Japan and Henry is almost impossible to get for a decent price.
I like n scale trains, you can have a large layout with minimal space taken up. Some folks mix n scale trains with ho/oo gauge trains, but there’s a man here in America who runs a layout of o gauge trains and uses ho/oo trains as narrow gauge trains. Forced perspective, is pretty clever, isn’t it?
Can't wait for part 2 leo! One thing is do you think model train hobby is dying? It's so expensive. Partents really don't want to spend tons of money on it. I've seen talks about the free games and things on iPads and that crap. Soon it will all be screens and never seeing what the mind can really do.
Great video! I especially like Defty there. I got to admit tho they really did things differently than compared to last years Trainfest. If you are having trouble with color balance you should really see about setting a custom white balance.
Tomy Tech is the same people who make the n scale Thomas and Friends trains. Kato (pronounced cat-toe) is a large supplier of N scale products in the states.
I have a Hornby Thomas and my problem with it is that when I oil it. It leaks because I have the model with the oil tank you have to fill it up through the boiler.
i remember when live steam did become a thing, but i think it was just steam, as in small heater thingy and some water to puff out smoke, i think the moons toy master shop near me sold them for about 300 pounds very pricey another shop far away model shop sold it for out of box? for about 230 pounds ish i think, but looking at those prices yikes!
leo ! you need to check out youtubers called cudak888 and diesel10tv! they create exact replicas of the t&f tv show models in gauge 1! (same scale as the show) really worth looking at

Long videos totally destroy my channel. Anyway it's wrecked now no real reason why I bother to upload here now.
Never never never give up even though it's going rough don't stop trying when you're tired and you're out of puff

I dont care how long the video is. I will always watch it. I could watch model trains for hours.
Revisiting this one and I think I’m finding “Been A While”to be my favorite of these displays. The vibrant greens and color saturation really sold it for me.
Trains were the reason I subbed to this channel all those years ago... This is very nostalgic for me and is still very fun to watch.

Absolutely gorgeous, and thank you for the awesome camera work.
The sets look incredible and realistic.

10:04 - I thought it was Spencer, one of the characters in Thomas & Friends. Because Spencer was based on that specific steam engine
I want a Bachmann Thomas...just one! :( I couldn't find one anywhere
Great video! I especially like Defty there. I got to admit tho they really did things differently than compared to last years Trainfest.
If you are having trouble with color balance you should really see about setting a custom white balance.
Very nice video, I myself plan on going to the Ravenna railroad festival on the 22nd of September were they're building a new rail heritage center
Tomy Tech is the same people who make the n scale Thomas and Friends trains. Kato (pronounced cat-toe) is a large supplier of N scale products in the states.

Hornby live steam was a good try because it made the engines look more real but it was hard to use and it could be faulty
