We do not know enough about the guy in white to have a good idea of his belief system. Part of what he said was beautiful, but he was wrong about this being paradise. It is not. It was, once, before Adam and Eve sinned. Right now, it's a fallen world that only echoes paradise. There is beauty in that echo, but it is a faded remnant of what was. Thank God, one day he will rip apart this broken world and create it anew, wholly perfect, truly paradise, and all who have turned from their sin and followed God, who are washed clean of their sin by the blood of Jesus Christ and assured eternal life by his resurrection, shall share together in that paradise, forever worshiping God. Hopefully, this young man will be numbered among those!

Materialistic things aren't all bad. Most games (namely video and board) are material stuff, but used well can bring people really together, food is material but a good amateur chef can bring people together, social media with phones, when not abused can keep bonded friends and families close even when far apart. There's a lot of wrong shit with materialism and especially with capitalism, but not all of it ! Materialism is IMO not the enemy, modern capitalism definitely is though !

Rationalism is how you reach enlightenment. Without formal ontology and epistemology how can anyone believe any of the claims you are making.
