  • On todays episode, we update the look of the Prado interior with new L.E.Ds!
All you need for this task is 2 Phillips head screwdrivers (one long one stubby) and some led bulbs.
The bulbs you need to suit the 90 series are:
    T10 wedge
    T5 wedge
    T3 bulb
How many of each will vary from trim to trim but safest bet is at least 10 of each (that way you have spares too).
Thanks again for watching and we'll catch you next time!

Hello Noelsy, found your dash upgrade video extremely useful as my high beam light isn't working and needs replacing. I'm also going to replace the main lighting behind the dash to LED's while I'm at it. Apart from that the other reason for contacting you is whether you've thought of doing something similar in relation to the removal of the plastics around the gear levers, as the rubber boot around the Hi-Lo Range gear lever has come unclipped and I need to remove the plastic to get at it from underneath. I'm assuming that it may just unclip, but I'm not sure where I should start, and how to get the plastic cowl over the automatic gear lever past the plastic moveable slides. While it's off I'd also like to have a look at the gear lever linkage as there's a bit of slop there and it may be that I can take that up somehow. Anyway, if you manage to look on line and see the message I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the process. It may be, too, that there's already a video on the process that you or one of your followers could point me to. In any event, congratulations on an excellent video, and keep up the good work. Cheers, John from Hervey Bay

Thanks for the comment john, i may have some info in my XRS upgrade video about removing the shifter trim, to help gain access to the lower portion of the center console. If that video helps you id be over the moon
Best regards thanks for the support

Looks more modern. But after a month my led lights went up in smoke. I had to put new standard bulbs in. Maybe because of the dimmer circuit, the leds did not dim. Maybe I had to add a load resistor as well.

May have been the style of leds, mine seem to dim fine, if i have any issues ill reply here

My 1998 prado uses T4.2 twist lock bulbs NOT T3. I ordered a pack of T3 and they are too small to lock in place.

Are you planning on doing the middle compartment lights? like the a/c etc lights? or do you know how it can be done? Cheers!

its doable mate, not sure how hard it is, its apparently easier on newer models but ive not put much investigation into it

I’ve just completed the centre console lights. Clock, ac unit, cigarette lighter port as well as the multi information display. All looks so nice with blue and white leds. Also did the the light around the ignition port in blue led as well as the speedo.
It’s taken me just about 3 days to get this far but so worth it. Makes the interior look 10x better.
I used individual leds and resistors as it is so much more cost effective and still provides the same result. Cost about £10 for a set of 400 assorted colour LEDs and 100 resistors (more than enough).
Onwards to footwell lighting and other areas now for the LEDs!

@@kevinmann-zo2fb I made the same makeshift led for all the areas I used it in, takes a bit longer than just buying them but it saves a whole load of money.

Im pretty sure the lights in the top of the housing are meant to be indocators for markets outside of aus, they use a t20 bulb from memory but are typically not wired in on the body side
      Hope this helps
