    I appreciate hearing that it does raise your electric bill for the freeze dryer. Other channels say that it doesn’t really raise it that much. Thank you for your honesty.

    I dehydrated a 100 dozen eggs last year right before the prices went thru the roof. So i had plenty of eggs. Will do some more now prices are down. Amazon sells those silicone lipped sheets in all sizes.

    I've been doing this for awhile now but the only difference I've seen is I dry it at a much lower temperature to preserve the rawness of the egg. I don't want it cooking in the dehydrator! lol I initially tried scrambling them then dehydrating because of the nay sayers but they were grainy and terrible in both texture and taste. Eggs done this way taste just like you scrambled them yourself fresh. Such a wonderful way of preservation. I have a nesco so there is that pesky whole in the middle of the tray but amazon has wonderful silicone mats that contain the mess!

      How long does they last stored once you dehydrate them?

  • @wellarmedwife166
    @wellarmedwife166 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    we have dehydrated eggs for a long time...I dont water glass as it takes up a lot of valuable pantry realestate... ONLY difference...I use our nesco to dehydrate eggs...fill the bottom tray, add the next etc...just easier... And, we run the eggs through the ninja before pouring onto the silicone tray..it seems to help them dry more evenly... We dehydrate a lot more duck eggs than chicken eggs...and taste wonderful when rehydrated as there is so much more yolk....

    What about starting with the bottom tray first but have the other trays out. Then you have some room to fill them. And if you know how much volume each tray holds, you can use a measuring cup to fill the tray to fill the last one.

    Thank you for your video.
    I might have four dozen eggs dehydrated.
    The chickens slowed down laying eggs then the dog started stealing the Temporary Foreign Workers Sandals and chewing them up so I started giving them Eggs to make up for it. I don't know if they understand but I don't care either. They are nice Thai Ladies and there's about 20 of them walk past to the Fish Plant every day.
    They leave their bunk house doors open to keep it cool and the freaking dog just walks in and takes what she wants. Floor mats, doormats sandals and garbage.
    I'll have to get back at the dehydrating eggs just in case I ever lose the chickens. Heaven forbid. The new ones I hatched are doing well and for once there's more Hens than there is Roosters. Last time there was five hens and ten freaking roosters. Oh well, the roosters fit into Quart jars if I remember right.
    Keep up the great work and good luck.

    This is a really fabulous and perfect project ! My daughter in law and I both have chickens . We currently sell the extra eggs at farmers market but that will end in October. We were just talking about possibly water glassing eggs. I thought you'd have to freeze dry eggs not be able use a regular dehydrator!!! We both have the smaller version of that Magic Mill dehydrator. I'm going to look and see if Magic Mill makes the solid sheets for our size. If not we'll have to improvise. Fingers crossed. Thank you for this very useful video !!!

    I saw the lady on rose red homestead rehydrate her eggs by using approximately a tablespoon of egg mixture dried and maybe one or 2 tablespoons of water, then she fried it and said the egg was just as if it were fresh out of a shell.

    Yuck. I tried this because I was desperately looking for a way to preserve eggs, but I must have done something wrong, because when I went to cook them up it was just awful. What I finally did do though, is I bought some of those silicone soap molds because I was making butter and thought they would be good for forming the butter, but then I thought I would use them for eggs. You just crack a whole egg in each container and freeze them. They come out in a rectangular shape, so they store very well and you can really pack a lot into the freezer. Or you can crack the egg and "scramble" it in the silicone tray. I tested them out, I tossed them in a pan and cooked them and they are better than fresh because they seem to hold their shape and you can flip them without breaking the yolk. Just an idea, obviously not shelf stable! After watching your video I may just try it again! Thank you! 😊
