@English Teacher 3D put it perfectly though. Right or wrong we live in an extremely selfish and material money obsessed society where you don't feel no connection with your surroundings. That often fuels the fire to put your name up or stamp within society. I hate seeing corporate advertising and coke and McDonald's logos everywhere way too much in your face but we have no say with that because they are big money companies and name brands. Feels like your just a number mosying along in life struggling to keep your head above water at times seeing close friends or family succumb to depression and sometimes leave this world before they should have done. Self expression is often a huge release be it art,vandalism or whatever. The power of freedom of speech is amazing. You look at a subject like graffiti from so many different angles and it will always stir up the 'fors' and 'againsts' debate. That's a debate that will no doubts rage on forever. Legal graffiti is cool but you also have to have the illegal side too within reason. Obviously painting some places is a big massive no no ie houses,cars,places of worship,cemetery etc
Nation was ahead of his time & frankly quite a progressive thinker considering the status quo thought at the time was to lock up & ultimately ruin the lives of these talented kids for what amounted to art in the eyes of many or petty crime in the eyes of law.
