    Polytropic index n, is -inf < n > inf or 0 < n > inf ? please clarify this as you have told the latter in the previous lecture.

    Sir What is the solution of this problem , 2kg of air enclosed in a rigid container recives 0.2kj of paddle wheel work and 0.5 kj electrical energy per second .Heat loss from the system is0.6kj/s. If the temperature is 25.c what will be the temperature after 5 minutes ?

    sir in free expansion work done is zero as work has not crossed system boundary.. in the similar way can i also say that in piston arrangement the work done is zero??? as it is also has same condition to that of the system taken for free expansion case

      Free expansion for whose system boundary is changing is taken as zero

      In piston cylinder arrangement suppose u have put some weight on piston... Due to reaction force of gases the weight will lift upward... Hence gases are doing some work. So piston cylinder arrangement is not free expansion

      Yes
      Example:
      Water, Water Vapour, Ice 🧊
      The condition for pure subs. Is that the chemical composition of that subs. is same throughout.
      Water: Chemical Composition is H2O.
      Water Vapour: Chemical Composition H2O
      And similar for ice 🧊 H2O.
      So, on mixing also there chemical composition will remain same. Will exist in pure state.

    How can I write RT in the place of PV for polytropic process? Because it's condition is PV^n = constant, it is not PV = constant. I dont know am I right or wrong. Please reply sir.

    Nozzle mein system ka displacement boundary ko cross karta hai. tau bha par work transfer zero kaise hua while Free expansion mein work transfer zero hai due to no displacement of system through the boundary.

      Because in free expansion boundary of the system changes rapidly means its change in state is not continous thats why it in not reversible and work transfer is possible for reversible process means integration of pdv is only possible for reversible process

      work= force x displacement
      here the external force(pressure) is zero
      hence the work done is zero
      Note that this process is ideal and is not possible to demonstrate practically

    Sir what do you mean by work or energy crosses the system boundary. Please give some realistic example. And sir in practical life in nozzles there is no absolute vacuum then how can we can say that work is zero.
