5:42 that Gyan in art work using atmosphere backpack while in model kit use space backpack. If you want the atmosphere backpack, you should wait for Hilda's version of Gyan. Hilda's version use atmosphere backpack.
The lineart shown is with the atmospheric pack (included with the HG Gelgoog Menace), while the HG Gyan Strom includes the space pack. You can swap the backpacks and have Lunamaria's Gelgoog Menace when Hilda uses it in space. The 2 suits canonically share a bunch of weapons (Lunamaria's Gelgoog with the extended barrel version of the rifle, Agne's Gyan with the normal version) and feature similar construction as complementary next-gen suits, so it's nice to see that reflected in the kits. The Seed Freedom kits have among the highest parts counts for regular HGs and certainly don't skimp on the actual amount of colored plastic. If you focus on the degree of color separation it does have, then it surpasses that of G-Witch HGs. It's only when you focus on what colors are missing compared to the overdesigned line art that you start to think of them as "lacking" color separation. By that logic, Bandai could just as easily design a mobile suit in a single color and have a perfectly color-accurate kit. Is that what people actually want? Personally, I don't even like how the proper wing trim colors look on the 2 versions of the bolelo pack. It's too busy and doesn't feel realistic/doesn't seem to serve a purpose in-universe.
God I love that shield. A shield with people is as much a weapon as a sword, and Gundam does have melee shields (built in beam claws,el etc) but the beam around the rim means it can actually do a shield bash and do real damage.
the best part is how it makes like a design that fits the seed universe. the irony is, this looks like a far better implementation to what the age 1 titus tried to do, but without looking goofy. it really feels like an evolution of the beam boomerang, with the throwable shield of the rising freedom or immortal justice.
The beam axe looks similar to the type that the Slash Zaku Phantom had, obviously a new mold though. And like the Gelgoog Menace, the Gyan's back looks like it can accept Wizard Packs.
Gyan Strom and Cal-re.A gotta be 2 of my favorite non Gundam from the movie. Except the funny name Bolero backpack, this is a really solid design and a worthy update for the old school Gyan. M'Quve would be proud
i really liked the duel blitz. hands down my favorite new suit. the gyan is ALMOST perfect, but i was never a fan of the pointy head. outside ofthat, the shield is just gorgeous. i love how they modernized it. really feel like a worthy upgrade. and genuinely looks like a far better implementation of that idiotic gundam age 1 titus nonsense into a functional design.
The head has a notch on its back that allows you to get a good grip on it. The real limitation to its posing is the collar which gets in the way a lot.
I just picked this one up from my local con this past weekend as my first model, and I really like it! Fell in love with the axe and shield combo. I decided to go with the Eclipse next after watching anther of your vids, just waiting for it to arrive. I was okay with the stickers except for the smallest ones that go into the missile pods on the backpack and the eye one, those are just too finicky to get done well and i didn't bother.
I don't buy HG kits anymore, but if they end up releasing a standalone weapons pack with that shield, I would consider picking that up. Cool accessory.
this kit comes with so many cool stuff, its worthy just for them alone. specially that shield. the beam halberd is always a great weapon for any mech you throw it on and the same can be said about its gyan classic beam saber.
Too bad that ball joint is nested in a part that has a seam... which is in turn nested in another part with a seam. 2024 and Bandai still cuts corners all over the place. They did a great job in avoiding seams in the weapons, even the rifle only has a few spots that aren't incorporated as panel lines. That layered shoulder is just cheap lazy design.
If you want a another good posing Gyan jut you should try to get ahold of a revive Gyan kit, although old it's a kit that can hold itself REALLY well for today standards
Very much enjoy the 'unironic cool' factor of this. Would've liked it to be darker grey instead of the... cream? Extremely light grey? Would've liked the blue to be more steely as well, but it's okay. Fun stuff, especially with the equipment!
I personally used a yellow beam for the saber/rapier. Feels more appropriate for a Gyan derivative. Also, I was interested in this the moment I saw it in the trailer.
@@marcosdheleno Yep! How its beam field basically turns it into a buzzsaw! And this is not the first time I've seen an energy buzzsaw shield. That would go to that Dukemon/Gallantmon Amplified kit.

The size of the box for this and the Gelgoog Menace is as big as a basic MG box like the MG Exia, Jesta, Age-1, etc. and there's no empty space or anything. You're getting your money's worth in terms of plastic content.
You know, I don't get why putting on stickers is seen as a such a chore. Here, they seem pretty easy to put. And overall, I can't remember High Grades setting up such a standard of parts/color separation before.
I hated the character piloting it, but this GYAN Strom is easily one of the movie's better designs, alongside the Z'GOK disguise for Athrun's Infinite Justice upgrade.
I was so looking forward to the gyan storm (THAT SHIELD) but after finding out the pilot was basically flay pt 2 I said screw it, used some leftover hgbd ogre gnx shoulder and kampfer chain mines, and made my own wired beam chakram shield
Dont care what anyone else says, I fuckin love the design of the gyan strom its so cool! Seeing that beyblade shield in the movie in action was pretty sick.
I'd say that the Michaelis works better as an updated Gyan than this does. One of the distinctive design aspects of the Gyan was how rounded many parts of it were, and this suit has none of that. If it weren't for the visor shape I'd never have even considered this to be a Gyan.
it is still strange that SEED Destiny all of a sudden ZAFT named their Mobile Suits after Universal Century Zeon units while other Gundam alternate universes at best only has the same model number but not the actual MS's name.
IMO you should just put the stickers on.. i mean if you're not really painting it at least? is it really better than showing it like this? Idk.. i have a couple of seed kits and it the end is worth it imo. Of course i would rather paint them if i could..
