Hi Vishwanath, We are considering buying a Mercedes that has AIRMATIC but we live in an area that gets a lot of snow in the winter and the roads are not in good condition, with potholes etc. We would prefer not to buy a SUV Mercedes, but are attracted to the AIRMATIC because of the option to raise the suspension when encountering rough road conditions. What would be your advice in choosing a model with AIRMATIC?
The reason you would look to raise the height is if you needed to navigate a large pot hole or driving in conditions where there might be a lot of surface water. The reason why I don’t suggest driving in that condition normally is that you can’t do so at speed. The car will automatically adjust back to a normal driving height.
Why do you say that you don't recommend driving in fully raised mode of the airmatic suspension ? will it get damaged easily ? can you explain briefly ?
I don't recommend it as driving in a fully raised configuration significantly alters the dynamics of the vehicle in terms of its handling. Raising the ride height to its maximum is really only useful when you need to go over large potholes or if there is a lot of surface water on the road. The ride height automatically readjusts to the normal setting once you go over a certain speed (although I can't recall exactly how fast).
Vishwanath Callikan ahh, because my dad has a problem with his back so he has kinda a hard time getting in a s class, also accessory power or Engine on? (didnt quite get it :))
Love Richardson Hi, Richardson: I use to parking my e350 n different level with the wheels, two of the in one level and the rest ones something about 5Cm. Down the others, that’s it good or can be able damages the airmatic system, ah, it’s 4matic, thanks
Yes, that's correct. Mercedes have changed some of the terminologies they use across their platforms in recent years, and 'Air Body Control' is their latest incarnation of air suspension. If you would like a more detailed description of 'Air Body Control' have a look here techcenter.mercedes-benz.com/en/airmatic_dc/detail.html for further information
when you trying to show car rising or lowering keep your camera in stable position!
I kept thinking the car was raising or lowering at first LOL
Jolly Spiffing Review Old Boy!!!
Which model is the best for airmatic durability?
As of my experience the C-class works very well and longer probably because car’s weight is lighter
Useful overview, very clearly explained
Great video about the airmatic
What’s the max ground clearance?

Game changer
My Tesla Model S with Air Suspension gets higher ground clearance than the Mercedes EQC :)
did u say it will lift the body up 15 mm what would 1,5 cm do to help????
What is the point in raising the vehicles height especailly if you don't recommend riding in that mode (why do you recommend that?)

Hi,
Thanks for the explanation.
Do you know what is the maximum height of the car when this mode is turned on?
@@VishwanathCallikan 80kmh over 3mins or once above 120kmh
i would like to test this
suspension height change is very slow compared to citroen hydractive
Hello Sir, I have a question. What is the maximum speed I can drive and how long can I drive if the car is risen all the way up?
Can you raise the car to maximum when the car is off or does the accessory power need to be on?
No, unfortunately, you can't. The power has to be on.
Vishwanath Callikan ahh, because my dad has a problem with his back so he has kinda a hard time getting in a s class, also accessory power or Engine on? (didnt quite get it :))
Vishwanath Callikan also how high does it go in maximum, and how low does it go?

thanks for this good explained video
Great video. Did a better job explaining the modes better than the Mercedes video!
what is the max height
i'm looking at a 2017 e class. there is a "AIR BODY CONTROL" option. is that another name for airmatic?
Yes, that's correct. Mercedes have changed some of the terminologies they use across their platforms in recent years, and 'Air Body Control' is their latest incarnation of air suspension. Is the airmatic system better then the active body control systems ?? I'm planning to by a w216. what's more durability and reliability? .
I also wanted to know what would be a better suspension for sport driving but also comfort.
Dynamic body control is any good?
So this ADS still needs to be activated, not automatically operating am I right?
The ADS isn't something you need to activate. It does operate automatically as part of the Mercedes AIRMATIC suspension system.
Nice video and car!
Great info
Does it have to have the E break on so it can rise up??
J.e Fx No, the electronic break does not have to be active in order to raise or lower the car.
The intro music is too loud
Hahaha Cls 400 Amg nice joke bro
get a tripod mate... you've got parkinsons - the camera is shaking far too much...
