    Lumix should just go ahead and send you a GH7, cause you are really showing how skill can overcome any deficiencies in a camera.

    • @TheCommodoreProductions
      @TheCommodoreProductions  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      haha that would be super cool! though I think the GH7 is too bulky for a M43 (I think it's the same size as the S5IIX) - so I'll be more interested in maybe an upgraded version of the G85 👀
      And thank you 🙌! The G85 is a pretty beast camera, so I think there's still some more things to explore with it to maximize it's usage.

    BRAVO!!!❤ A visual feast for the eye and mind! Inspiring video that captures a journey and draws the viewer in. I've just returned from a 3 week tour of Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Bangkok, Singapore). With the Lumix ZS200 and Insta360 X4, I have so many photos and videos to bring together to tell a story of the journey. You've inspired me to look at all these memories from a different perspective. You are a huge inspiration to me, Timothy. You're the reason I bought my g85 and made my first ever travel film.
    I gotta ask, how do you keep your shots so in focus with this camera? Especially with moving subjects and locked-off tripod shots of yourself?

    • @TheCommodoreProductions
      @TheCommodoreProductions  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Thank youu!
      Moving subjects - I think it's a hit or miss at times, so you just got to be fast with the manual focus (I suggest you press the AF/AE LOCK button to pre-focus your subject first - press it until you are focused on your subject. Also be sure to have the white marker on MF).
      And then for tripod shot on yourself - it's a guessing game when trying to focus on yourself lol BUT I suggest having a higher aperature to have more things in focus (like f3.5 or higher) to make it easier OR use the manual focus indicator on the G85 to focus on a spot that you will be standing or walking into frame to. I'll be making some more content on this so stay tuned for that.

      So i brought and used these:
      - G85 + cage
      - panasonic 25mm
      - panasonic 9mm
      - helios 44 (i bought this used in Japan)
      - DJI RS3 mini
      - ND filter
      - filter adapter (to fit my lenses)
      - mist filters (1/4 on the panasonic 25mm and 1/8 on the panasonic 9mm)
      - gopro 8 (if i went hand held, i put this on my G85 sometimes if I have the 25mm or helios, so I can quickly grab wide shots if needed without switching lenses in the moment).
      - backpack + quick release plate
      - camera hand strap
      I should do a video of how i run my setup haha. But hopefully that helps!

    This was such a great video! I love the cinematic style you've captured on your travels, it's something I want to try to learn and reciprocate as I've just bought my first ever camera (the g80). Do you have any recommendations for settings how tips on how to capture this cinematic style? And how different is the footage you shoot compared to after you've colour graded it? Colour grading is another thing I want to learn. Also loved the focus on sound design when you were in the onsen!

    • @TheCommodoreProductions
      @TheCommodoreProductions  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @leefy28 thank you 🙌🏼 glad you liked the video! So settings, I actually have a video on my channel that talks about optimizing your G85 to maximize it's capabilities. But I'll list out some main ones here:
      1. Shoot in 4k 24fps with your camera
      2. Turn on zebra settings in your camera (for highlight detection so you can adjust the lighting setting for your camera)
      3. Use manual focusing (the push button to focus method)
      4. Turn on focus peaking (it'll help you see if you're focusing correctly)
      5. Pay attention to your exposure meter, try to have it at +-0, but adjust accordingly to your environment
      6. Framing a shot correctly (this is the most important one, as it'll be the core to your cinematic approach)
      7. Use natural picture profile - I forgot the settings of this on the top of my head as I'm typing this out haha, but it's in the video I made, as mentioned previously
      There's definitely some more, but this will be a good base for you to get things started. Hopefully this helps!

    Great video! The best of the best from every G85 videos. Every second of that - amazing!
    Can I ask a question about Helios? Did you use simple adapter without focal reducer that gives more light and wide look?

    • @TheCommodoreProductions
      @TheCommodoreProductions  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you!🙌🏼
      So I used both a normal adapter and focal reducer.
      - m43 to m42 mount adapter to helios
      - m43 to ef focal reducer x.71 mount, then ef to m42 adapter to helios
      Without a focal reducer, it doesn't give it more light, and it is zoomed in 2x. So if it's at 50mm and you adapt normally then it'll be at 100mm

    Fantastic video, amazing footage, editing... All with the G85. I have questions and a request for you. In which camera settings do you shoot evening and night shots? I have a micro 4/3 system myself and struggle a lot with it. Another question is, regarding the dynamic cuts, do you use some presets or did you make them yourself, and a question/curiosity: What does your timeline look like? I wonder how much video and aduio tracks you use for the idea... Maybe if it's not too daring and just make a printscreen of a small cutout... have a good time and I wish you a lot of new inspiration around the world, you're doing a great job!

      Thank you! For the night scenes I am using 4K 24fps, max or under 800 iso, and using a panasonic 25mm f1.7, 9mm f1.7, and helios 44-2 f2 (with .71x speedbooster). For the dynmaic shots used in the edits (if you are referring to the whip effect) - essentially just whipping the camera left, right, up, or down when I finish a shot. My editing timelines actually can be found on my instagram page, in which I post those there.

      Gh5 is a better camera in terms of features, so I think you should be using vlog if I remember correctly, cause you have more color grading potential since it's a higher bit than the g85.

    is olympus em5 mark 3 is good for cinematic videos?

    • @TheCommodoreProductions
      @TheCommodoreProductions  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks!
      I'm not sure with that camera particularly as I've never used it or seen anyone I know use it. But I think if you want more "cinematic", I think there's really just good framing in general. The other two I would then add be good lighting and then a lower aperture if shooting subjects ( a lower f stop - example: f.2.8 or lower) so you can have some depth of field when shooting your Subject - aka blurry background effect.
      I suggest you just watch some movies and copy some shots that you like, and then you can learn and see what works best for you, then you'll start making your very own cinematic shots before you know it!

    • @TheCommodoreProductions
      @TheCommodoreProductions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you!
      Actually the 12-35mm f2.8 is pretty versatile and achieves what you are looking for in terms of wide to mid shots. Though it isn't going to be the best for very low light situations given it's at f2.8 (but i think it still can work in decent low light, but not compared to the 25mm at f1.7). If you need to be fast with your lens focal changes, then the 12-35mm is for you, just get a portable light (if you are doing subject shots or anything that might be dark). If you can take your time with your shots, I would look at the 25mm f1.7 and 9mm f1.7 - these two are a good mid and wide angle lens. Hope that helps!

    • @TheCommodoreProductions

      maybe it has to do with lighting - i still use it at 24fps, but I make sure it has enough lighting. my shutter speed is always at 1/50. also try to make your shots smoother when in low light - if there is shakiness, you might encounter some jitters in your shots
      And ND filter - most of the time no I do not use it at night. Unless the lighting is too intense, but that is not often

      @TheCommodoreProductions I was wondering if you had the ND filter on during the night shots to help smooth the video. Whatever you're doing, the video looks better and smoother than most people using high end 4k cameras.
