There are a few different reasons to use physics objects. First is to place an object on an npc's head, this can cause them to move to their destination faster which is great when you want them to open a door for you quicker. The other two reasons are prop clipping and prop flying. Prop clipping is done by taking an object and placing it on a surface you want to clip through, crouch into it and save and load (you can ascend/descend while clipping by saving and loading repeatedly). Finally prop flying is basically taking an object, stand on top of it, jump, grab the object again and repeat. Doing it correctly will make you able to get out of bounds easily.
No, its New Engine. Specifically build 5135 from 2012. Almost everything done here is possible on the latest steam version though, with it being only 10s slower.
