    Once again Brian sends out a AAA lesson in a clear and user friendly fashion. His lessons are right on for my current skill level. And the sound of that little B&G takes the cake! If I ever join another lesson site it will be this one.

    OMG...THE BEST VIDEO EVER!!! This is my speed. You covered the lick in detail,
    slow enough to follow and then faster for the execution. Hope all your videos are like this.
    I just can't get guitar teachers in person to teach with this style of instruction.

    And this is why I play the drums. You are such a good guitar player and I can’t even imagine doing that. I’ve played in bands and bars from coast to coast but you have a certain touch that makes you stand out. I’ve never played with a guitarist as good as you. How are you not famous? You’d give Clapton a run for his money. Keep up the good work

      IMHO - (please read with the most “positive tone”)😌 Brian is one of those clearly “grounded” yet very talented people who doesn’t seem to let an ego, or “shiny-object-blindness,” get in the way of his positive character and love of the music.
      He certainly is “famous” with those grateful students AROUND THE WORLD who’ve become part of the Active Melody family. 😋
      I’m so glad he decided to hang out here with us rather than fall into the trap of “fortune, fame and glory.”
      We love ya Brian!

    A fantastic lesson which I initially thought was way over my head. An excellent teacher can take the complicated and make it simple. You have done exactly that through your carefully considered repetition which puts the musical techniques (up stroke, down strokes, which fingers to use, how the notes relate to the chords, etc) within our grasp. Also, your pacing is such that boredom is definitely not even a consideration (from my perspective). I want to learn so I’m hanging on everything you say and do. I’ll be practising and incorporating all of this into my modest bag of guitar playing tricks. Thank you very much for sharing your gift of music with us.

    • @dannymccoy1783

      Did u learn it?????

    • @Teeder
      @Teeder 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dannymccoy1783 Hi, I can’t say that I play it this well, but I’ve learned a high percentage of it. This lesson has some excellent “incorporations” of other songs: the introduction to “Kansas City”, the F#7 of “That’ll Be the Day” by Buddy Holly, plus rock and roll runs deeply indebted to the Blues. I’m miles (kilometres, if you live elsewhere) from being an expert, but my ear and playing have taught me these observations. I have a long ways to go. Have a good day!

    • @UmVtCg
      @UmVtCg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's in the key of E major. He is using licks straight out of the E-major (0:49) and minor pentatonic (0:59) scale. It catches your ear when minor (0:28) is used over major (7th) chords in blues. That is why almost all great blues players mastered the art of mixing these scales. Same goes for Brian, the intro even starts with mixing these scales.

    Great lesson, but one thing, when you demonstrate you're not playing it the same as how you explain it. The Shuffle on the A. On the second time around you explain/teach that you finish with 4-2 on the D string, but in your demonstrations when you "take it from the intro" (11:30 as an example) you finish with 4-2 on the A string. Subconsciously most likely because you did it again like that in the final play. Just an interesting thought that, it appears, no one has noticed. I was playing along with you and noticed that my guitar didn't sound like yours on those last 2 notes. Did a rewind and saw that you were playing it differently than you explained it. Still an awesome lesson. Thanks so much for all of you hard work. I've learned a lot from you. Even this little faux pas was an immense learning experience. BTW, it sounds bluesier finishing it the way you do on the A string instead of the on the D. Now tell me that you did that on purpose and the person that found it wins a free membership. haha!!

    Love you for this!...I just pulled out my guild d30, I bought it in 1994. It been in the case in my attic and I hadn’t touched it in about 7 years (been playing a seagull mini jumbo acoustic).
    I restrung the guild with light wound strings, but strung the B,E strings with a heavier gauge.
    The action on the guild is low and the sound is amazing. This lesson was good for me because while the seagull is nice the action is high and I was not finishing the lessons because hard to switch chords. On the guild I had no problem pausing the video and following your single notes and chords.
    Valuable lesson for me. Thanks.

      @@romeredubost6971 I'm not trying to be a know-it-all or anything like that, but if it were my guitar, I would avoid the attic at all costs, many instruments have been destroyed in attic (and basement) storage. Sounds like you're okay, and I hope that's the case! I understand those era Guilds are supposed to be pretty awesome. Take care!

      @@AccuracySpeaks no, I’m not offended by the advice and concern. I got lucky that it wasn’t destroyed due to my neglect. And when I restrung it and it noticed no damage to the neck, it was like meeting a long lost friend again.
      It still looks immaculate, and sounds great.
