Hey Cam, long time watcher here. I use to work at Best Buy few years back & helped in the car audio department. The installers would tell me that anytime someone decides to buy a new unit while keeping original sound system , the unit itself will have more output then the stock amp can hold. Hence the high pitch noise you hear. The lc2i audio control will help dial that in or just get a Kicker Key amp to pair with new speakers. 👍🏽
I think you are right, I hear an alternator noise after connecting an aftermarket radio to my camry 06 with a factory JBL amp. There is another wiring harness which bypasses the factory amp, I am thinking to try that one instead, would you recommend it or it can be too quiet without the amp ?
ive done the same head unit replacement on my es300 and i have a similar high pitched squeal at all times. is there any other info you can give adrian on the lc2i mod to fix?
I have the same car except mine is a 1999. I have 340K miles on it, but the transmission was replaced with a remanufactured unit at 245K miles which was 7 years ago. It had a timing belt job done and brake booster was replaced. It's been pretty flawless and has not let me down. It leaks a little oil but I am willing to live with that. Took it on a 600 miles road trip this August and it was flawless. Hoping to keep it for as long as possible. Doing full synthetic oil changes every 3K miles and drain and fills of the transmission every 30K miles (hoping this transmission will last).
Just saw this video. I had a 1998 Lexus ES300 in 2015 and in case you hadn't seen it yet, I posted a writeup on the stereo install process on Club Lexus. Search for a thread called "How to Install an Aftermarket Radio in 1998 Lexus es300" and you'll find the thread and my post with detailed pics. I ran into the same issue with the alternator/engine whining noise, and used a four channel Ground Loop Isolator to eliminate the noise. Good luck with the car! I loved mine!
Great effort installing the head unit Cameron, you did a lot better than I did 8 years ago.. Took out my original head unit and thought I was clever enough to rewire everything myself. The genius in me ended up cutting everything out. After staring at a pile of wires for an hour, I decided to give up and drove to an audio shop to fix my mess lmao. Keep the upgrades coming!
Yeah, I would not worry about the reversed speakers control. I admire your patience and dedication to the project. Congratulations on the new baby and I guess by now she may be a year old. Best wishes to you and your growing family.
My first car was a 1995 Lexus ES300. It was my dad’s old car and I drove it from 2002-2006. I have wanted a new Lexus since high school and I finally bought one last week. They had big red bows from the December commercials. I told the sales guy when we were setting up the infotainment “Dude, I know this is going to sound silly but I have wanted a brand new Lexus for a long time and I have to get a photo with the bow.” He smiled and said “Then let’s get you a photo with the bow!”
I tired this with a H2 and it was one of the most frustrating things I have ever done. After 2 weeks I gave up and took it to my local sound shop. Best $150 I have ever paid.
This video is awesome and now I am thinking of getting my LEXUS RX300 ,convert to Apple car play. I hope i can get aftermarket for my car. Thanks for such clarity and fun doing DIY
New to your channel and think it’s so dope to see you making videos on a ES300. Absolutely love mine with it being my first car and hope to do some upgrades on it as well.
You made a good call on avoiding the AX100. I had the AX100 installed in my dad's car and the Bluetooth always has to be paired again every time you start the engine, which is annoying. With the Pioneer unit in my car, you just pair your phone to the unit once via Bluetooth and it will always connect automatically once your phone is nearby and has Bluetooth enabled. Aside from that, the Sony does this weird thing where the time is always either 12 minutes behind real time or 12 minutes ahead of real time. I only got this unit because of the volume knob, but I should've just got the one you got or a Pioneer.
Same process in my LS400 too. Except I still have my factory radio because it's very high quality, and soon to be running Focal speakers. 👍 But my factory pioneer system is amazing, and I just love the stock headunits in these Lexus's
Don't know if you read the comments but I did a head unit install on my es and I guess the grounds on these cars suck basically they require ground loop isolators to get rid of the high pitch whirring it picks up the sound of the alternator.
I did this too but my system lets out a constant high pitch squeel. Everything works but that squeel is bothersome, any tips on how to fix? @Cameron Hill
Honesty bro I subscribe because of the content only watched one video but I’ll be watching the other ones and also wanted to try making videos with my ES300!!
@@Camhill182 well took a while but wish i could dm you a photo new shocks and wheels for her today and she’s running like a beauty!! as well as check all connections in your engine bay if your power is running low my alternator cord was loose on the post and did a little of what your was doing I’m hoping it gets back upm
Just discovered your channel. I really like your videos on this Lexus. I’d love to have a car like that. Keep the videos coming. You’re good on camera and explain things well!
I think you switched the green and purple RCA speaker cables. Every source I've checked says that purple is for the rear right and green is for the rear left.
Vivian looks beautiful and I'm glad you guys are doing well. Respect on you installing the head unit yourself even if it didn't work perfectly the first try. I'm looking for an Android Auto unit for my 8th gen Civic FA1.
The noise you’re getting could be a result of your ground. The best ground is always to main chassis of the car. I’m surprised the harness you used didn’t come with factory ground to wire into. Love the Lexus by the way.
I have the exact same head unit I installed in my RAV4 from Crutchfield. I ran my usb cable down underneath my shifter and it comes out in my armrest console so I can plug my phone in and put in the storage so I don't have to leave my phone out.
Thanks for this video so excited to purchase a used Lexus thinking RX350 or GX/LX470 but you got a sweet sweet deal ❤❤❤❤I live in Tampa, but away for a few months!!! I am super excited to watch!
I love ur car bro I have an 01 es300 with 175k picked it up for 600 bucks wondering if they have a Tesla screen that controls the climate control as well?
if you don.t want the cable sticking out you could have went with a head unit that had wireless apple carplay. I love them I have 2 boss units one in my traverse and one in my pickup, Also you can get a usb extension that replaces the cigarette lighter and that is a whole lot cleaner looking than a rando wire hanging.
I just bought a 2000 Lexus es300 to give to my kid for his birthday, but I can't figure out which wires to connect from the stereo to the harness........I have the exact same Sony double din as you do in the video....can you help me??
I did the same thing and I couldn’t get the rca’s in the correct order. All the speakers but the sub work. I want to bypass the factory amp. Did you get the rca in the correct order?
U have a 97 model and i wish i can restore it to as new. But i just cant.. for now ill drive it untill it breaks down completely or get a new car myself.
Correct me if someone already asked, but was the bottom ac control portion a part of the new touchscreen sound system, or did it detach from the upper stereo part of the old audio control
Have you or anyone else ran into this problem with it all sounding VERY static-y & low after installing a stereo on this car?? I tried different harnesses & stereos but get the same result for all & just CAN NOT FIX IT! its frustrating
Hey Cam, did you ever get rid of the high pitched noise? Same issue on my 1999 es300, Sony XAV-AX1000. Anyway hope your newly extended family is doing well! and thanks for doing this video
This is very interesting. When I got my kenwood head unit installed back in early 2020 when I bought my first car, a 2008 Toyota Camry, I never had a high pitch squealing noise. I also had two 12inch MB Quartz subwoofers put in the back. Where exactly is the factory amp located in your Lexus?
there's a good chance your camry doesn't have an amplifier, similar to how my car didn't. maybe a higher trim model does? but if you don't have an amp your set to install new speakers and amp right from the head unit. but usually the head unit already has a built in amp.
@@CrowJamz oh I think I get you you now. When I had my system put in, they installed a 2 channel DS18 amp, to the back of one of the backseats, along with 2x 12 inch MB Quartz subwoofers 🔊🔊. Before that yeah it was just a regular Camry lol.

Great clean vehicle change door speakers and rear 10inch sub with mid level amp will increase sound quality💯

That high pitch is classic sign of bad ground wire or not a good enough connection
