FUNCTIONALITY
ChatGPT is an AI model that generates human-like text and engages in conversation.
Perplexity is more of a search engine designed to find and summarize online data.
TECHNOLOGY
GhatGPT is works on GPT-3.5, and Perplexity uses GPT-3, but you can also access GPT-4 on it.
RESPONSES
ChatGPT provides more informative and insightful responses. It is also better at understanding the context and offers personalized replies.
Perplexity on the other hand offers more generic responses, but it provides you with the source links, so you can fact-check the information.
WEB ACCESS
ChatGPT doesn’t have web access unless you’re using ChatGPT Plus which is a paid subscription.
Perplexity can browse the internet, and you can even choose the sources from which you want responses. You can select from the entire web or specific sources like TH-cam, Wikipedia, Reddit, and others.
Another cool feature Perplexity has is Co-pilot, which is an interactive way to search. It is powered by GPT-4, and it’s completely free. But it’s limited to 5 uses every 4 hours.
PLATFORMS
ChatGPT is available on the web and as an iOS app.
Perplexity is available in web browser, and it also has iOS and Android Apps.
Additionally, there is a Chrome extension that can quickly summarize articles and answer questions from a specific web domain or page.
Both AI Models are good for specific tasks. Perplexity is an amazing Search engine, while ChatGPT is great for creative writing, understanding context and reasoning.

You're comparing apples and oranges. Perplexity is a Google killer, not a Chatbot like ChatGPT.

Funny affirmation. Microsoft tried that too with Bing and failed.
Don't get me wrong, I love Perplexity, but it's far from being a real competitor to Google. Plus, I made the video over 6 months ago when Perplexity was running on OpenAI's GPT only, hence the comparison

I really dont understand how Preplexity is a Search Engine. You can say summeriser or annotator... In my opinion, search engine gives me links for me to learn...
In my opinion, people should not compare this with google or bing or Microsoft edge. Their ai companions can be compared. I know this is short is not about comparing with Google.... Just want to put that there....
They actually position themselves as an AI Search Engine and a Google Challenger. Even yesterday I read a tweet from one of the co-founders abd he emphasized again that.
Also Perplexity provide links as well, so it's not far from a "search engine" but I agree that it's more appropriate to compare it with Microsoft Copilot or Gemini

Now, it's definitely better than the free ChatGPT.
How old is this? Gpt is 4.0 limited queries, even for subscribers , 3 5 unlimited. Gpt hides web as hidden beta for subscribers, where you have to Easter egg guess how to get to it.... Most importantly, what is perplexity pro? This needs to be reviewed.

Tbh I prefer Krawl AI over Perplexity. It's more work-focused and I can get lot more things done using it because of the "tools" concept they introduced. Plus they are adding new tools to it almost every other week.

What exactly was terrible about it?
@@theaisavvy it is not a conversational LLM, more like a skin on top of GPT3.
It refers to itself in third person instead of first or second. Until you coach it to take on the conversational style you can’t get any feedback on whether it parses prompts to ditch and select sources.
I asked it science minded questions about astronomy and it was citing wikipedia, vice etc. Instead of scientific sources and was self contradictory about being able to not use wikipedia.
