Glad they have a buffet on site so you don’t have to go back to the shop. The flies are a huge issue!!! That’s also a long walk. They should do the golf cart tram or rickshaw for people. I love that there are so many lounges. I did see on another channel Disney drop the ball with the handicap cabanas; no auto doors, ramp falls short, and biggest “no no” there are no beach wheel chairs. Great first start.
I see sooooooo much walking. What do they have to make this island accessible for those with mobility issues? I like the bench idea as there are lots of people who can walk but need to take breaks. The celebration is something special. For those of us who always stay on at Nassau, it is a way to get a little bohemian culture without the intimidating merchants and other risks associated with visiting somewhere as a tourist.
I'm with Cory about the long pier walk, needing benches, water, cooling towels on the walk back 🤔 I sure hope they can get better control on the flies all over the food 😮🪰👎🏻 We will be there in November, hoping some of the problems will get addressed 🤔 Thanks for sharing 🤗
Hi Cory and Craig!! A lot to unpack. Stunning beach and beautiful water. Its seems really hot and glaring and I was empathizing with the performers in character costumes. 😮 Yeah the walking. While Cory was talking at the end I saw a tram coming down the pier. Food & flies was a legit issue and the food looked good. Looks like a good option for families. Lucky you two to get a preview trip.
Craig, Cory, you two are bigger Men than me, hands down. LOL. I'd rather get the food from the ship than get the ones from the island where there's a literal swarm of flies walking & flying all over the food.
I feel confident with my cruise scheduled for next year since it has both stops at Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay! Can't wait! Great job covering this, Craig!
Thank you for the honest, straight forward review. Thanks, also, for the full disclosure that you were guests of Disney for the preview. Those views from the beach on the far side of the island are beautiful, and the cabanas add a lot of atmosphere, even if one can't afford one. Great splash areas. It looks like a palm tree nursery!
Great to see Corey, bring some of the old gang back more often. Corey’s points are spot on. Disney has to add water, cold towels and emergency phones and/or position cast members for that long walk to/from the island. That walk is going to be an issue for people who have mobility issues and young families. I suppose they can’t add some golf carts or everyone would want to take them. Was there really no way around having the long pier? A lot more people are going to complain about the long walk, far more than would have expressed concern for the impact a closer pier would have on the environment. People have high expectations given its Disney’s new island and the cost to cruise with them. Overall, nothing special compared to the competition. The Bohemian theme is OK and the entertainment is just OK. RC Coco Cay is much better. They better figure out a solution for those flies ASAP. The ship is too far away to go back and eat lunch there.
First of all, let me say how great it is to see Corey in a video. Always like to see him! As always, you guys delivered great coverage here. Almost all the other coverage I’ve seen has just been oh, this is a terrible place because of the walk. I feel like I have a very good sense of what this island has to offer and I’m excited to visit. The fly situation is definitely something they need to fix, but I’m sure that is something that they are going to do their best on.
Ryno is at home thinking “This is why it’s called Shopping with Ryno” 😉 😂 This is not Craig’s strong suit but i thought he did pretty well considering he was describing all of the merch solo this time
A question about wheelchairs and beach access and all their places to charge power wheelchair seeing it is a half a mile just to get to the tram and a wheelchair normally has about a 10 mile range.
Craig you weren’t disappointed? It just doesn’t have any “Disney” to it unless something I’m missing. I’m just super happy you had a good time and hopefully you show us what ya bought!
1) I bought nothing. 2) I don’t necessarily get the Disney feel from Castaway outside of a few signs, Mt Rustmore and some props. I get the feel on that island that it’s kept to a certain level of beauty thanks to Disney and Lookout Cay is the next evolution. Disney didn’t go in and do all the work. They wanted to work with Bahamian artists to create the look and feel that represents their culture but with the DCL quality. It’s not perfect, there is still more to come and get finished over the month, but it’s a wonderful destination that I’d be happy to return to.
@@DISUnlimited understandable I just know your a sucker for good theming like I am. I just wasn’t immersed and didn’t see anything that would call me to that island that makes it a Disney island. Hopefully they told you more work is to come as so far it doesn’t look impressive as I can get that experience on any port stop. Castaway is amazing and hope they put more work into it.
@@DISUnlimitedthis is actually the very reason I’m even considering my first Disney “private” island visit. I love that they were international about working with the islanders. And it looks beautiful. Now if only they can get the flies under control lol
Excellent coverage as usual! I gotta say, I’m a little underwhelmed with what I’m seeing, but I can’t wait to hear mor on the Tuesday show. Also, what’s the deal with Disney refusing to build pools on their islands? Is it a conservation thing? I don’t get it because Coco Cay has a giant pool.
Ooh, that comment about no bench on the boardwalk and no emergency 🆘 way to alert anyone in case someone passes out - good point. I’m wondering if you go on the nature walk if someone knows you’re on it and let’s say you fall - do they know to look out for you?
Yep that’s a serious issue! No way I’m eating ANYTHING from there. That’s disgusting to see a swarm of flies all over the food. I hope they solve it soon. That’s unacceptable DISNEY!
They definitely need a water station at the beginning of the pier on the way back. Many people don't carry a water bottle and if you don't grab water before hopping on the tram that is a recipe for heat injuries. The flies--yikes. Not good. Hopefully they can address it--I'm also curious how long they hang around the ship after leaving the port. The water is beautiful and I hope they add some water activities in the future.
It wasn’t freezing - just comfortable but it might get warm in highest summer heats and yes it is a DCL spirit jersey rash guard with UPF 50+ block and it’s incredible.
In the States, a food safety inspector would not allow food to be served with that fly situation. Not sure if it can be controlled, since there rest of the island is inhabited and out of Disney’s control.
I was looking forward to visiting however I will now wait 1-2 years until they fix and or add more activities. They might want to consider netting off the eating area and adding large fans. I also feel the beach chairs look cheap. Also, I noticed a mix of furniture in the eating areas some huts had wooden furniture and others had modern type tables and chairs. I also do not see any Hammocks. Since this island suppose to be tropical I rather see something more unique like straw umbrellas and not furniture I can find at Wayfair or Walmart same goes for the kids wagons and strollers they need some shade and logo branding or design. Looks like the kids area is a hit maybe they need to add a chill pool type area for families and adults as well. I feel for the towel cast member on the pier he needs some shade or sun hats that should be standard for all staff.
They are going to have to put up some rope barriers between those inland beech chair areas and the beaches. Otherwise those sand dunes are going to get destroyed by people walking over them. For many the existence of the little bridges over the dunes should be enough to deter people, but we all know that it won't be.
Why so many FLIES???? I just got off a cruise that went to the Bahamas. Went to the beach and saw nothing like this and on other vlogs. Is it the vegetation? Water looks amazing!
This is the second review of this new island. I hope they are going to do more. Castaway cay seems much better. They need to do something about the walk, and the fly situation is out of control. Also it seems much more to do at castaway cay.
Don’t get me wrong, I would not cry if I was there, but I don’t want to go out of my way to go there. Even assuming the fly situation is handled, I don’t think I would make it a point to go there. Beautiful beach, but that’s it. I would rather do MSC Ocean Cay for the quiet natural vibes or RCL if I want more going on. IDK. Weird that they would go through the trouble of doing a huge press thing and inviting all the vloggers and not have it ready for its debut. But I have not seen it in person so reserving judgement.
I hope they figure out how to deal with the fly situation that’s disgusting. Perhaps keeping the birds away allows the flys to thrive. I rather deal with seagulls than the gross flies.
Thank you for not complaining and complaining and complaining about the walk on the pier that is there to protect the island. I saw trams taking people back during your wrap up. I’m sure they will figure it out. I really couldn’t take one more vlogger there on a free trip talk about it anymore. Always honest reviews!
Do you have plans to go to Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point?
Yes. Our next Fantasy cruise stops there.
No. Not my cup of tea.
148 more sleeps til my cruise to Lighthouse Point in early November!
I definitely want to visit the island, but I want to go on a different ship other than the Magic.
We are on the June 19th sailing going to Lookout Cay 😁
