Out of all toolboxes I have seen and the ones I own. I love the easy of every tool being available to grab. No drawers open and close. Where my wrench bottom draw, sockets top lid with calendar and tool trucks advertisement book for the month, oil wrenches bottom drawer and left top drawer for ratchet... The list goes on because that the tool cart and not to mention the tool chest.

I have one of these and they are great! I can't tell how it has helped me not lose things. when out and about I do a quick scan of the tools and it is easy to tell if one is missing. Also the pegs are so close to the lid that if it tips, they stay where they are rather than scattering all over the box. Not to mention that the sockets, ratchets, and wrenches have a life time warranty!

This box is built by Montezuma storage boxes. They also have a few other sizes and types of boxes.

The box concept is good, but the exexution in mfg. is poor. It has been my experience with my Montezuma triangle toolbox that the socket peg spacing is not wide enough for most socket sets. I have tried 1/2” drive and 3/8” drive sockets made by Snap-On, Mac, Matco, S-K, & Craftsman. In both impact and chrome versions. I rarely can put a whole set in a row without having to skip pegs due to improper peg spacing. When double checking the tolbox after a job it always looks like I’m missing some sockets or wrenches. I have to pull them off the pegs to check if the sizes are sequential. If you carry ratcheting box wrenches those pegs too are too close for those box ends and you again have to skip pegs. Better R&D could have been done on the Montezuma box in my opinion. I would not recommend a triangle box for this reason.

How do you warranty the tools? Do you have to mail the broken tool somewhere and they send you a new one?
You can mail them in to us if you buy one from us and if you don't want to go through that hassle just make sure you take your receipt with you to any local John Deere Dealership and they should gladly warranty it and hand you a new one as long as they have the tool in stock.

Ok maybe I’m not understanding something but what is the purpose of only having a half of tool box that still takes up the same base space as a Rectangular road box that has up to 9 pull out draws?

I’m not putting my SnapOn tool box mounted to the back of my flat bed. On a standard flat bed I have my Yeti , diesel tank with tool box combo and this 36x17 on passenger side in that order. I can still load 2 pallets on flat bed or my ATV.

This is definitely a secondary box option for a lot of people. I know plenty of people that would have way too many tools for this box.

Montezuma box... save quite a bit and but from them vs the JD markup. Box itself is functional if just one person is working out of it or it is a dedicated service box for a specific function. For full time use, you’d want a bigger box.
Also, who would buy the JD branded tools? The price point of them is high fro whaT they are.
Yes, this is basically the same design as the Montezuma box but as far is price goes the John Deere box is very price competitive. As far as the tools go, most of John Deere tools are lifetime warranty as are a lot of tool manufacturers. But for customers that have a John Deere dealer close by it is very easy and convenient to go into your local dealership with a broken tool and have them do a warranty on the spot. Most times they can hand you a replacement right then and there if they have the tool in stock, rather than having to wait on another manufacturer to asses the warranty item and then mail you a new one. It is all a matter of what is most convenient. Thanks for watching!

Manny, Google Storsmart 36 inch toolbox sold at AgriSupply.com. I bought one a year ago and it’s a great alternative to the Montezuma box. There is a review of the toolbox on TH-cam by Koon Trucking check it out.

How many combination wrenches does this hold?
It has two racks, one for metric and one for standard. the wrench sets that come in the loaded box are a 14 piece SAE and a 20 piece metric. On the pegs that hold the smaller wrenches you will have space to stack a second one on top. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

John Deere stole this box from Montezuma. No surprise, Deeres always stealing other companies ideas and selling them as their own
So these boxes are actually made by Mi-T-M and then branded John Deere. I believe Montezuma sold the design but I could be mistaken. Either way, Montezuma gets all of the credit for being one of the first to do it. Thanks for watching!
