For those of you who don’t understand the Luigi’s Mansion one, when Luigi is answering the phone and the lightning strikes, some people say that Luigi’s shadow on the wall looks like it’s hanging itself. Personally, it’s never appeared that way to me, and I think it was just a rumor someone started to scare people.
Maybe it’s a prop of Luigi?

There are some moments from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon that could be included, like how in the 3rd level you constantly hear the piano eerily playing in the distance, or the graveyard in the 2nd mansion

Paper Mario: TTYD is full of creepy moments. Finding the train is almost completely empty on the 3rd day; having your ship attacked by ghosts; having Cortez tell you to turn back throughout the cave; the Shadow Queen consuming the very souls of the audience to heal herself(instead of just their bodies like Hooktail); finding the missing fighters on the hidden second story of the Glitz Pit; the time after you beat Doopliss for the first time, but before you understand why you are playing as him; when those boos start circling you and you don't know that you can do a super swing to beat them away and think that you just have to make a run for it; etc.
Don't forget Koops finding what he believes to be his dead dad, mysterious emails from X, and the 100 trials dungeon having literal chains on the walls for prisoners
I love how you forgot to add a literal noose that you could see throughout the entire game is soon as you start your adventure
@@Juan_blooms and during the final battle, when the crystal stars go everywhere, they first show up in a circle around the gallows. Normally, when they are in a circle like that, Mario is on a pedestal in the middle of them. But having some gallows as some scenery isn't creepy, just dark. And we are talking about moments, not props.

During most instances, they are being presented to the thousand year door, and are revealing the location of the next star on the map, but during the final boss fight, they end up going to all the towns/people you've helped to gather positive energy/encouragement or something, so that you can actually hurt the demon.

That is actually a reference to the medieval times where if anyone was found guilty of high treason, they would be hung. What’s even worse about it is that the person who were hung would be disemboweled and their organs would then be thrown into a fire - all while still alive, and that’s quite brutal when you think about it.

Especially in the beginning of the game where you find out the Shroobs destroyed the whole Christmas town, the fact that they literally consumed toad's souls for energy using spooky trees, one of them (a pink female toad) gets killed right in front of you... Such a dark game

The thing about Shunned Guy that stands out is that Indigo Underground is the last place you would expect to find him.
Color Splash definitely IS terrifying at moments. I never got to the parallel worlds (I got stuck on the Violet Passage level) but one of the highlights for me in creepiness factor is the opening just on it’s own- imagine being mailed the equivalent of a dead body drained of blood, and then seeing the very thing happen to your friend when you arrive in Port Prisma. Always shocked and terrified me as a kid. Seriously though, I will stand for Color Splash to be considered a great game, It’s not like TTYD or SPM (although I do want to play those someday), but it’s still a terrific game

in the final phase of elder shroob princess, it’s basically implied that if all 4 of the brothers die, both the past and present world are done for and both the baby and mario brothers are dead since princess peach faints in the last phase

I CAN’T believe more of Origami king didn’t make this list! Peach’s monologue at the beginning of the game, Bowser Jr getting cut to shreds by scissors, the game overs from the Jungle spring path maze, there could have been more on this list. Plus more from Color Splash too, especially Toad getting his color drained at the beginning of the game (wow, the past 2 Paper Mario games really had terrifying moments at the beginning), and of course Bowser being possessed by the black paint.

I like to think the Luigi hanging himself thing in Luigi's mansion was intentional. Namely because I believe it is the ghosts of the mansion manipulating Luigi's Shadow to appear like he is being hung, when in reality he is not, in an attempt to scare him. If ghost hunting videos taught me one thing it's this: The Attic and Basement are where all of the crazy shit happens.

The Boohemoth scared me to death when I was in middle school in 8th grade I was eating lunch watching New Super Mario Bros 2 and when I saw that Boo my face turned pure white I screamed so loud that the lunch room went quite and everyone looked at me and asked if I was ok when I showed them what scared me they were understand why I was scared they taught me to be brave 2 years later I wasn’t afraid of the Boohemoth anymore but it still gave me chills when someone mentioned it name
