After failing in rehab 2x for alcohol addiction, I went to medical detox for a week, then took psilocybin. I am now sober 3 months and have been able to easily resist the very minor urges to drink. I was drinking 1/5 of vodka every day and having terrible withdrawals at night. Not only am I sober and not in a useless 12 step program--I have also lost 24lbs and counting. I have had 3 experiences so far and don't feel I need another for several more months. I am a former EMS director with CPTSD. I've seen a dramatic decrease in symptoms of anxiety and depression and my activity level is dramatically increased.

I did a heroic dose of psilocybin yesterday (5+g but apparently it was really strong and very blue). It was the best and worst experience of my life. It started off super hallucinogenic with loads of dynamic visuals and I could see how the stuff would be awesome at a party or festival. I then started feeling quite sensual. Then I could literally feel my brain fill with happiness. This grew and grew until I was weeping from pure unfettered happiness and gratitude. I had a sense that I could die that way and be entirely fulfilled. I then lifted up and was no longer in my body. I had a sense I could go further up and 'travel'. My partner was outside and I wanted connection with him, and it felt better and easier to get to him by going up and travel to his 'energy' than to get up and find him physically. At one point he did come to sit next to me. We got into a laughing fit. I remember saying 'this is so weird, I don't know what's real anymore.' I kept wanting to go back into the 'dream' and couldn't 'wake up'. Like coming out of an anesthetic. At one point I said 'I 'm struggling to come back'. He maybe should have left me to carry on as I had been, but he came to get me and made me go outside. At this point I thought I was supposed to be 'back'. So instead of enjoying it I was trying to 'wake up' but was so disoriented and kept spinning off into 'dreams'. But then I'd 'wake up' and find I was still sitting up in an almost catatonic way. And then I didn't know what was real anymore. I got into a loop where I could see the world around me, but kept waking up over and over. Each time I woke up I thought 'Ok this is real, I'm back' and then I'd spin off again. I started to get a little scared. My mind took hold and I started feeling locked in. I was convinced I was in a psychotic break (maybe I was??) And didn't know if I'd ever come back. It was like I was stuck inside myself and couldn't perceive reality. I became paranoid and was trying to anchor myself, but I couldn't believe or trust anything. At one point our trip sitter said I was fine and could relax and that we still had at least an hour to go. This gave me a bit of relief, but then I didn't believe him and thought he was trying to trick me. I eventually got myself to my bed. After just standing in my bedroom not knowing what was going on. At this point I was in a repeating loop of stuck ness. I saw our balcony and clearly thought 'oh this is why people jump' I could imagine wanting or needing to do that if I was stuck in that loop forever. But I got into my bed and tried to go to sleep, hoping that I'd wake up ok. But the stuck loop just carried on, and on and on. I was terrified the rest of my family would come home because I just didn't know how to be me anymore or to relate to anyone. After about 2 hours in bed my partner came up and put his hand on my shoulder. I looked him in the eye and said 'HI' and for the first time felt like that was real and I was actually HERE. I was still woozy and struggled to speak but was so grateful to be back!!! I don't know what happened there but I literally thought I'd lost my mind and was never coming back... It was damn scary and I'm not sure what to make of it yet....

I took "A Lot" (about a medium sized handfull as I had a medium sized hand at the time) of dried happy fungi, went up to that special place of answers and stood before the Beautiful androgynous being and posed my question (personal) which was answered (simply, concise and, alas, personal).
The Beautiful being told me it was time to go back down and I would not be able to come back for an indefinite length of time. I instantly found myself on the blanket at the seashore where I was at the start of the trip and completely "unstoned", checked my watch and it had been about 20 minutes.
It was 13 years before I went back up, I didn't have to take any psychedelics to go there.
Neither do I have to take anything more to alter my mind. Just find a quiet spot, calm my mind with deep breathing, relax and choose a direction.
Let the mind go and the body will follow.

It’s so incredibly frustrating how difficult mushrooms are to access for medicinal purposes considering that they’re considerably less dangerous than alcohol. There’s so much promising bc research on their impact on long-term, treatment-resistant depression, but so many people will not be able to even try and just kill themselves :( it’s awful that folks who would otherwise never commit crimes are being pushed to buy these illegally and unsafely as a potentially last chance to want to live.

My last trip was amazing, a beautiful meditation, connected to life. But for my wife it was a loop of bad thoughts, so it seems we might not control well where it takes us. I remember spending most of childhood spaced out on brown caps found in my backyard. Ignoring the questionable parenting skills of mom and dad, the psilocybe alenii variety is extremely abundant in my part of the woods, and I used to unwittingly micro dose myself with these little gems. 1 or 2 caps was enough to satisfy my curiosity about their taste, and it helped me calm my mind and concentrate - thus acting as a nature cerebral stimulant to quell my ADHD.
I wonder if conducting such a test clinically would be humane? I know that it helped me personally, and allowed me to tap into my mind's eye for artistic inspirations and to finish tasks that I had started. These things were nearly impossible for me to do as a child, as my mind was always torn between 5 different fun things to do at any given time. Mushrooms helped me to "be in the moment", rather than constantly eyeing my next adventure.

    It’s totally a mind game.
My highest dose was very scary at first, not because of the visuals (it wasn’t even that high of a dose tbh), but because I was so nervous before taking it. I didn’t know how it would effect me and I was impulsive, which I shouldn’t have been. I should have waited till I was ready again. But interestingly enough I am glad that I did in the end.
I had to ride it out the uneasiness anyways. It felt like I was meant to recite a script, to act out a story and determine where it was going. I knew that I had to calm myself down and let go if I wanted to enjoy my trip, but it took hours. I walked all day, for fear that if I stopped, the “script” would not be fulfilled in the right way, and I would slip into a worse trip. I am glad I did walk, because the rhythm helped me find myself.
At first I felt like the walking was an escape that I had no choice and that I would throw up or pass out, or forget who I am or where I started. But as I calmed down it became more of a fluid, natural dance, passed down generation after generation through my legs and down to my toes. The visuals weren’t so daunting anymore, I began to enjoy them, and they embraced me too, instead of mocking me.
It makes a lot of sense, how it all tied together actually. I am usually so anxious and obsessed with controlling the things in my life that can’t or shouldn’t be controlled, I fear a lack of perfectionism because so much has gone wrong since my childhood that as a kid, I always felt somehow to blame, to drastically unreasonable standards. But just like in this trip, I think I need to stop panicking, play this game, stop worrying about the little details of the script, and instead walk until I find my step, and let go.
I think bad trips have the potential to be the best as they subside. If you’re ever panicking, remember to take care of yourself as you would a friend, pretend you are guiding another who is scared until you feel comfortable within yourself again.
(Yes I’ve commented this on other vids so if it’s familiar, that’s why LOL)

Maybe this will help others predict good trips and bad trips before taking mushroom.
I noticed to always have a good trip, I ingest shrooms when I experience a "calling". If I am anxious or have dark thoughts, I will avoid taking mushrooms until good thoughts fill my head. To me, this affects the interpretation of my trips and my perspective of the trip, allowing me to more accurately predict a good trip before ingesting mushrooms.

Then we decided to fish (night time) @ his pier and I see HUGE trouts and red fish on the 2nd floor watching from above. For some reason I was talking highly / poetically about these creatures and how life is wild. Next thing I know these fish look extremely massive catching one with a lure my dumbass thought I could bring it up with 10lb line and it snapped. Feeling shock after losing a huge trout looking at the water for 5min. Then decided to tie another lure only to realize an 1hr went by and I still couldn’t tie a single knot. frustrated at myself and just decided lay down and look @ the stars and think wow life is a beautiful trip.

I'm currently seeking ketamine treatment in Wisconsin, but the "wellness" clinic is nervous about treating someone on chemo. I got them in touch with an oncological pharmacist who says there are no adverse drug interactions. It's a lot of hoops to jump through that I didn't expect, and I presume if shrooms are ever approved here in WI it'll be the same. We can't even get medical marijuana in WI. It's frustratingly stupid.

Best I can do is try to find them myself, which is usually difficult in my area, then try to use therapy for integration/interpretation help after a meaningful experience. Quite a few will work with you while saying what they must about not being allowed to condone it's use.

Could you do a video on whatever the largest species of fungus is?

    • @GaryDunion
      @GaryDunion ปีที่แล้ว

I believe the largest single fungal fruiting body is _Phellinus ellipsoideus_ , it's about a foot long, it's kinda woody, it grows along trees instead of up on a stalk like most mushrooms and tbh it's not that exciting looking, BUT...
The largest organism of any kind in the world is a fungus that looks like clumps medium to largeish flat mushrooms above ground but these are just the fruiting bodies of a gargantuan underground network of mycelium. The species is _Armillaria ostoyae_ , and one specimen in the Malheur National Forest in Oregon is almost four square miles in area and probably weighs about 35,000 tons.

The other risk with psychedelics, especially if taken with other drugs or in unsafe spaces, is intentional or unintentional self harm from freaking out during a bad trip. In my area, a young man was shot by a cop during a wellness call because he was freaking out on mushrooms and other drugs, and the cop mistakenly believed he was threatening another person (he was alone) and then the officer.
They really need to move psilocybin to a lower schedule since it shows incredible promise for people with severe, treatment resistant PTSD and/or depression when combined with specialized therapy. When they’re taken in a safe place, the patient doesn’t have to worry about getting shot by police or running into hazardous situations during a bad trip or psychotic episode. Considering how many veterans die by suicide in the US, it’s disgusting that a potentially lifesaving treatment is not widely available to them and others suffering from stubborn mental disorders.
