As a side note, Louis Tomlinson has said that he had trouble finding his place in One Direction and that he thought of himself as the “least important, most forgettable member” as he didn’t have as many solos, etc. this song shows how important he and his voice was. His distinctive voice in the chorus, if you listen...it’s LOUD and leads the chorus, stands out - without it they don’t sound nearly as full. Shows how much he was very much needed.

Lisa Turner I have heard a One Direction song somewhere without Louis I think on a TH-cam video and I can’t remember what song it was but it sounded less full and empty because Louis’ voice is unique in a way where you have to have his voice in the band because without it, it feels somewhat empty.
@@ashroyer03 yeah in one of their concerts he lost his microphone during rock me in the chorus and it sounded so different without his voice
harry was a writer on this one , so that probably explains the 80s sound. personally it’s my favorite from this album for sure. xx

Also I just want to say that I so appreciate that you pause the song before you start talking about what you hear, what you’re feeling and describing the different instruments ...which I think is so cool.
I’ve watched other reaction videos where they talk over the song and I don’t understand that because they’re missing so much of what’s happening in the song. It is so frustrating. So I just want to say thank you for, I think I want to say, like being respectful to the artist because you were actually experiencing the whole song and not just parts of it.

I agree with you as well!! I so enjoy when he explains what instruments he hears and describing, for instance, if they pan left. Also just appreciating the structure of the song and/or the lyrics even if it isn’t the type of music he usually listens to .... very cool.

There is actual footage of them recording this song in a hotel room. They stood a couple mattresses up to make a makeshift sound booth. Could that be why you are hearing the reverb? You can search TH-cam for the footage, "One Direction recording four in a hotel room"
Their management worked those boys so hard. This is a prime example. They were on tour, recording their next album on the road in hotel rooms😬😩
If that’s the case; it’s probably an artificial reverb achieved though something called plug ins!

They certainly were worked ridiculously hard and sometimes they even recorded on the tour bus. One time they talked about performing an entire show and then recording their album at like 2-3 in the morning. When the hell did these guys sleep and get the proper rest they needed? Explains why they needed the hiatus.

Harry used to get into that song so much at live performances- particularly his “will you ever love me...love me agaaaain?” part. Takes me back. Love it 💕. (Harry and Zayn’s vocals mirror each other well in this, w/ Louis always leading the chorus w/ his loud distinctive vocals, Nialls solos sound great) great song! Thank you.

I love this song and your reaction to it was great. I absolutely agree about it sounding like the 80’s and a Journey song.
They performed this at the season 11 finale of The X-Factor UK and Ronnie Wood joined them on stage. Harry was so excited to be performing with him as well as Niall who was playing guitar along with Ronnie.

They performed it with Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones for the x-factor finally one year. I have a video I could send to you. (on drop box just like the ones I sent you of Harry's documentary and Niall's Tv show when he recored with the RTE Orchestra) It's pretty cool. And yes, during that time they were performing in stadiums.

@@JacobRestituto No it was at first but then because it was in the UK they took it down. It's weird cause I downloaded it before they did so I have a really clear video of it. But I had also put in on dropbox back then to share with someone and when I looked at it after I mentioned it above the video isn't as clear. Don't know if dropbox ruins the quality. When I look on my computer at the original it's very clear still. Not sure how I can send that one? (you can still see the one on drop box but it's so much nicer when it's good quality) Would you be able to tell me how to?

they sometimes recorded in hotel rooms by putting mattresses around them because they were on tour so much. i remember seeing a video of harry singing this song in a hotel room. if you search up “one direction recording where do broken hearts go” on youtube you could find it. also this is a great reaction and the camera quality is amazing!! ❤️
