    The ENTTEC is the obvious choice for me - have 2 of the units already and am keenly awaiting for their Version 3 to get more for the clubs I'm installing.

    Hi great video, I have noticed that in some of your videos on the Chauvet AN you have updated your firmware, I am trying to do this with a reset unit on a MacBook but cannot see a banner to do so like in later versions of the firmware, how did you do it?

    Do the Obsidian Netron nodes have a software like the Entec for config? Or are they manual, like the Chauvet? Specifically thinking of the NP4.

      Hey, the do but not standalone software, everything is on the node itself.

    I don't believe NMU is event available to download anymore, or also not available for MacOS. I believe Enttec is pushing users to have to use the full EMU software just to do the auto discovery style config. So fallback is just connect it, work out what IP address its picked up, then configure through the web interface.

    So I'm using a an-2 node. When I set up the ip address and that, when I put the node ip address into my browser it asks me to sign in. What does that mean? And sign in to what? Chrome, Windows, epic game?

      Read the manual - Chauvet added this at some point and it's in there, just as a security measure on open networks :)

    Dose the DMX-AN take DMX into laptop? Rather then like you show here laptop to DMX? I'm trying to program lights from ableton > DMXIS > DMX-AN > Ethernet back into laptop > Magic Viz
    Any advice would be massively appreciated :)

      It can, just set it to input. However, from DMXis the best way would be to enable the Art-Net input and just send the Art-Net (networked DMX signal) from one PC to another into your visualizer, no DMX-AN required

    No single piece of equipment has ever caused me so much anxiety as the AN. Finding this video was the greatest supposed answer till I got to the final screen before the web open to change the IP and a screen came up stating that it was not a secure site and needed my computers admin name and password which I entered to no avail. It still would not proceed to the web page and after weeks of research I still am not able to set up my DMX lighting system. What good is a tool that cannot be used. The frustration continues.

      You need to use a different web browser OR change your settings. I am guessing you are using Safari - Apple is pretty weird about this, and while they mean well, there's no reason for devices like this to have a secure webpage. I access these all the time on Chrome or Edge and they work fine :)

      Follow up: it was requiring the admin, admin inputs but since then it still won’t communicate with my lights. I am paying a professional lighting guy to set the whole thing up and he was a genius going through all the protocols. Even he can’t get it to work, he believes it is some hidden security thing in the linksys that won’t let it or something wrong in the box. He downloaded Show express and it won’t recognize the AN. It’s already cost me more than the linksys, the AN and the Luminair to have him try to figure what isn’t working. And thank you for your fast reply and input. I am becoming broken hearted that what was supposed to work together doesn’t and I’m going broke trying to find out why. This is going beyond what my church can afford and so I’m going to have to eat my mistakes and so much more. Never easy on the tech guy. I hope to start practicing your principles soon.

    We are currently set up with 2 universes at our church can we simply purchase 2 of these Entec ODE units be able to operate completely wireless ? Our main goal is to fire lighting cues from Ableton live. Using D Pro. Wasn’t sure if set up is the same for multiple universes. Thanks

    As a mobile dj, I was hoping to use one of these with an airport express. Will I have to reconfigure from one show to the next?

      You should NOT have to, if you set them up properly. The only unknown factor I have is the Airport express...in an effort to make them "easy", Apple makes them very difficult to use without an active internet connection, but you should be able to get it working.

    Been trying which feels like forever to setup my Enttec mk2 to my Airport express. Any guides on how to do so? I can never get to the "configure" point of the enttec to change the IP on it

      Be sure to download ENTTEC's NMU software to discover your node if you haven't already: www.enttec.com/products/controls/dmx-over-ethernet/nmu/
      Other than that, you may want to use a different router. Apple's Airport routers are notoriously difficult to work with, especially if you are configuring a "show network" that has no open internet access.

    is the Chauvet DMX-AN compatible with sweetlight ?

      In theory it should be, but I would ask Sweetlight support if they allow Art-Net/sACN nodes with their software.
      If I'm not mistaken, Sweelight is the same software as Chauvet ShowXpress, and if it's licensed the same, you need to have a software license (ShowXpress Box) in order to use Art-Net/sACN nodes.

    So if I use an Enttec on grand Ma 2 on PC do I need a Midi device as well or can I just control the MA 2 with the controls they give you on the screen

      You're asking a lot of questions here. If you're using MA2, you first need MA hardware to unlock the output. Then, you can use MIDI, but you need a program called ShowCockpit to translate the midi to useable controls in MA2. Once you have the software unlocked, you can use an ENTTEC node like the ODE for output, though it's likely you'd have your MA hardware do this instead.

    could I use the DMX-AN with ma2 on pc to output artnet? Would i need to reset the ip every time i go to a different venue

      Yes, as long as you have unlocked output for your Onpc rig. No, you won't have to reset the IP if you carry your own network (or even just set it up with the PC plugged straight in to the AN)

      @@LearnStageLighting my only other problem with the DMX-AN is the 3 pin xlr. I've heard 5 pin exists to distinguish dmx from xlr. But can I just adapt to 5 pin? I'm planning on using this with dimmers that have 5 pin outs. I want the support though to use it with high end moving lights though, PRG, clay paky, all that stuff that has 5 pin out

    is the DMX-AN what i need to run my lights with an iPad via the Luminair app? What is the best setup to be able to run my stage lights for a youth worship service with an ipad? Thanks

    Be careful. 2.0.0.0/8 subnet is not specified in private IPv4 ranges. 10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12 & 192.168.0.0/16 is.

      2.X.X.X is the Artnet Standard. That is the IP range specified in the artnet spec.
