I really can't understand why so many of the different goth "types" hate and bully each other... We don't have to love all the same bands and look like the same. That would be so boring! There are so many types of personal taste and we have to respect that! Of course we can tell others our favourite bands, if they don't know them. But please respect it, if they don't like them and don't call them "posers"! Only if we respect and inspire each other the culture can survive and grow! 😉 And yes, it also means to respect Pastel Goth as a crossover between Nu Goth and japanese Lolita. You don't have to like it, but please respect it. 😊 Share love instead of hate! 😙 Ps: This comment is at all. :)
There are tons of modern goth bands that I'm loving. Dead Spells, Illusionaut, Cold Showers, Drab Majesty (Angela's playlist got me into them), Then Comes Silence, The Birthday Massacre, Johnny Hollow (they're coming out with a new album rn), Lebanon Hanover, Undertheskin, Boy Harsher, TRAITRS, Soviet Soviet, Chelsea Wolfe (idk if she counts as goth but I'm adding her to the list anyway), She Past Away, Bat Nouveau (I literally thought this was an 80's band when I first heard them) and Selofan. I don't understand people who complain that there isn't any new good goth bands when there are tons.
I have to admit that I've only listened to a few of the bands you mentioned, but I think that the ones I am familiar with are mostly just reviving old genres. I think they sound good, and I enjoy listening to them. But I feel like they're not doing anything new or moving the genre forward. People are mostly drawn to them for "nostalgia" feels. Yes, it doesn't mean that the scene is dead, because there are people still making and enjoying this music. I just feel like it's stagnant and not the most exciting, and part of what makes a scene thrive is when something new is happening. (Even if it's just like mixing post-punk with garage/indie, like in the early 2000s.)
I am definitely more rooted to the 80’s goth sound. But I refuse to be “exclusive” to that. I love London After Midnight, Frozen Autumn, And Lebanon Hanover. I own a couple of the comp discs from the 90’s and I love a lot of those sounds as well. The originals, ie Bauhaus, The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, And Siouxsie are like coming home for me. But again, I will definitely give the new stuff a good try as well. Drab Majesty is growing on me because of you! All of the samples you gave show just how much variety there is in Goth music. It’s a big genre with all kinds of different flavors. Definitely something in it for everyone. Great video!
Well. As a "Millennial" Goth (lol, I was born in 1997 but I wish I could live the 80s and I was a teenager in the 90s) with a ridiculous grandiose music taste obsessed with Cure, Sisters, Depeche Mode, New Order etc. I jam with She Wants Revenge, Bat Nouveau, Cold Cave, oh how I adore Cold Cave and Blaqk Audio. So to me Goth is not dead, Goth will never die.
You inspire me so much to try and keep the goth scene alive but I'm 14 and have no idea to do that so its frustrating. This helps me a lot and I was actually really surprised to see that modern goth music has the same feel as 80s and 90s. So thanks for adding to my playlist!
I was half paying attention to you, and half paying attention to my knitting, but you really grabbed my full attention when you mentioned that you first started out by listening to 90's industrial. I followed a path similar to yours, except I started with the heavier, more aggressive sound of industrial metal. There's just no way I would have been able to listen to Bauhaus or Joy Division back then.
yo angela benedict has a bunch of curated playlists on her account when you hit her profile link and go to the playlist section... they're pretty awesome!
I have very mixed feelings about the gothic scene since I discovered it a few years ago. Since I first heard such bands as The Cure, Christian Death, The Birthday Party etc., I realised that this is my type of music, but at the same time I absolutely agree with those who say that today's gothic subculture has nothing to do with what it was from the very beginning. At least I can make such a conclusion after a deep research about those times. The culture of aesthetical protest, based on diy, was almost completely replaced by the culture of consumerism, and so-called alternative/gothic brands. I emphasize that I don’t have anything against these stores, and I myself have things from there, but this should not be enough for the whole gothic culture. As for music, I don’t think that it is dead, I find wonderful modern bands, but the fact is that now they are in the underground and probably not all of them use "goth" label. So I can say that despite the fact that I am a big fan of post-punk, goth rock, death rock and other genres falling under a gothic umbrella, I don’t really want to be called "goth", because there're things about the modern scene which I really dislike. I just want to be myself, wear clothes that I like, listen to my favorite music and so on.
I like modern goth music. It's very reminiscent of the 90s, when the subculture peaked. Maybe one day we'll bridge the gap between subculture and culture. We're getting there, we just need more goths, music styles, arts, etc.
Whenever you make a video recommending music I know I can trust you 100% that I'm gonna like mentioned bands. Knew a few of the modern ones before but I'm always excited to hear more of the new stuff ♥ Thank you a lot for recommending Evil's Toy too!
Hi there, Another new band I'd really recommend is *Boy Harsher* ! I just can't get enough of their music and they just released a new song called "Face the Fire". Really worth checking out.
@@sachadcx I'm super jealous!! It seems like they are staying on the East side of the US then hopping overseas. :( makes me sad. Haha. You should check out The Kentucky Vampires too! They just dropped an album 11/17 that's jammable all the way through
I think I have similar music interests as you... dark, melancholic, atmospheric synth, but with strong reverb gothic guitars - Twin Tribes, This Eternal Decay, The Secret French Postcards, Forever Grey, Autumn, Hante., Lycia, Cabaret Grey, Astari Nite, Glaring, Corbeau Hangs, She Past Away. I'm very new to this subculture, but 2 weeks of trying out various styles reveal these as my preferred sounds. Some of these I am now aware of courtesy of yourself, so thank you
I love this video so much, I'm 100% stuck in the 80s early 90s and have had a hard time opening up to new bands even though I desperately want something new to obsess over.
Thank you for always having a positive attitude and making videos like this. It's like having a distant older goth sibling telling me what to keep an eye out for :D
Angela I love watching your videos. I learn a lot about the goth subculture I think goths are awesome and admire their confidence to express their individuality
I'm not just a casual fan of Skinny Puppy, I'm a huge fan of Ogre as a person. He had a correspondence of letters from a single fan spanning years! He kept all of those letters and they have a book now called Go Ask Ogre. If you haven't read it, I see it as a beaming example of how the music keeps us all together.
You're the first person I know of other than myself that likes or identifies a song by sound and melody, rather than lyrics. I thought I was the only one. :D
As a highschooler in the early 2000s lurking around the internet trying to learn about goth, Vampire Freaks exposed me to my big three - The Birthday Massacre, Diary of Dreams, and Blutengel! You also mentioned compilations. Somehow by the grace of god I bought a Projekt compilation in Hot Topic which opened a whole new door for me. The compilation was named "The new face of goth" and I just really wanted to know more about what goth really is.
Love the music in this video! I'm an industrialhead trying to get more into goth, definitely going to check out all the bands mentioned. I'm a frequent shopper at Dais records (especially their Coil releases) so was glad to hear someone giving recognition
Thank you so much for the playlists, the 90's were my scene as well tho I went from grunge/alternative to industrial/metal path mostly. The more "popular/mainstream" goth bands always hung around on my dare I say mixtapes (ouch I'm old) what I did get to hear always held a special place in my heart. Now I find myself gearing back towards goth music & am loving all your suggestions. Thanks again! 😎👍
Ok I freaking love this video! That is so my taste in music! Also I was looking at the description box and noticed you said you used eyeshadow for ur lips- which looks amazing btw. However, I just thought I'd share if ya didn't know this but wet and wild actually has some awesome blue and green shades in their megalast liquid lipsticks! There is a blue shade that looks a lot like this! Just throwing out some tips from one spooky sister to another!💙💚💜
Hi there. I just wanted to say thank you for this video. I realize this video is a year old but it carries a lot of importance for me. Over the past two years I have watched and re-watched many of your videos because each time I watch them I seem to get a different message or clue to what I'm feeling by doing so. I have worked your playlists, I have scoured Bandcamp and Amazon music and made my own, I have gone out and expanded my music vocabulary largely due to this video and the like (e.g.Skullgirdle's vids). The depth and breadth of my own musical repertoire now is so much more extensive than it was even a year ago. And while I enjoy listening to, and learning about, breaking music down in to its various categories, I find I now just listen indiscriminately and just...enjoy. thanks!
I graduated in 91, it was a great decade for music although I'm a metal head . STP, Alice in Chains, Samshing Pumpkins, NIN, Killing Joke all were on fire back then. The bars were great, tattoos not so great, and horror movies were good again. Love the web pillows and blue lips!
@Wytchfinde we lost alot to the vein plague around then didn't we. Of the friends from high school I had only for remain. Prison of death toke way to many. Then again we fuckin lived back then though it was hard living well when you truly feel nothing matters. We weren't just angsty people we were fuckin suicidal with our excesses.
Angela! Did you ever think about making makeup tutorials? I've been in awe of your eye makeup for a long time, especially in "90s Goth | What it was like" video. And your eyeliner is always on point! Ughh, teach me master!
Also being older and joined the subculture in the 90s, I agree that the new goth music is just as legit as the 80s/90s stuff. Some that you listed I'm already in love with, and thanks for the new suggestions!
Thank you for all the Song and band names! I’ve been having trouble finding new music. 🖤 P.S. you’re adorable and I love you hun. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much for releasing this video! I feel like the Goth aesthetic is blooming but I feel no one talks about the music anymore. I am aways trying to look for new music to discover and I have found alot of great artists through your playlists 💜
Aww I love Lebanon Hanover and Drab Majesty!!! I'm actually going to see Lebanon in Portland in April. It'll be my first foray into the goth scene. Your playlist with Gallowdance is what got me into them and actually a lot of new bands I have fallen in love with so thank you!!!
I love Drab Majesty, Lebanon Hanover, and She Past Away 🖤 I've also discovered Ritual Howls, Keluar, Figure Study, The Agnes Circle, and All Your Sisters, have you heard them?
I love your music tastes angela benedict!. I have a few bands myself and uh.... some you already know but i can recommend you some since your description tells me that I can so here we go! 1- Red Lorry Yellow Lorry 2- Cassandra Complex 3- Linea Aspera 4- OTO 5- Danse Society 6- Ash Code 7- Agnes circle 8- She Wants Revenge 9- The Frozen Autumn 10- Velvet Condom I hope this comment reaches you quickly enough. Again, I love your videos!
Angela! Thank you so much for this video! I've been listening to goth for a little over 2 years now, and I recently hit a wall with the music. I felt a bit of despair with finding more goth music, and then you upload this video and reignited my journey into discovering more music within goth. I really appreciate the music you share with us! 🦇🖤
Ahhh! I love watching your videos! I feel like anytime I start a video of yours all I want to do is just want to listen to music for hours! You describe goth music so accurately! Its truly an experience
*Hello, I'm so happy that you did this!! I am ALWAYS, ALWAYS looking for new bands to listen to. I love the whole 90's/80's bands like this! Thank you very much!! And, btw, you're so pretty too.*
For quite a long time, I mostly listenned to Metal (Bands like Katatonia, Paradise Lost, For My Pain, Nightwish, etc..). I knew some Goth music and, even though I liked it, I wasn't into it as much as I was into Metal. I knew 80's Post-Punk for the most part and a bit of modern Industrial. It was until I found your channel that I started really getting into Goth. You introduced me to 90's and Modern Goth band that I never heard of before (And even some 80's bands that I didn't know too) and since then, I fell in love with those bands. It felt like I "found my sound". So, this video is a good occasion for me to say "Thank you" :)
I just saw Clan of Xymox a few weeks ago. They were amazing! I definitely agree with supporting not only the new bands coming out with great music, but the older ones as well. The scene for me, will always live on in myself at least.
In our elder days, our music used to be main stream. Nowadays there's this band called She Wants Revenge using post-punk, new-underground goth and/or old goth music tendencies. I trully recommend you guys to give it a try. The fact that a band might be main stream nowadays doesn't mean they cannot be supported if they honor the elder sounds and dark lyrics.
Im a babybat. I honestly wish goth was like it was in the 80s,90s,and early 2000s. I feel like I'll never have the fun you or elder goths had. I started as a Marilyn Manson poser. But you introduced me into Switchblade Symphoney. Which really got me into goth. I hate all the hype over nu goth, and pastel goth, it isn't goth! I wish I had fun hangouts to go to. Plus its impossible to introduce friends to goth music because its so obscure, and ruined by mainstream media. Goth isn't the same at all. I hate all the new brands. I like the good old idea of thrifting and diy. Your stories about the subculture really make me happy knowing that goth was once alive. I wish all ages clubs still existed since there's no way I could make my friends have small gothy dance parties. I would love to have the novelty of dressing up and dancing to music I love.
VampiresAnDollhouses 101 you can definitely keep the goth spirit alive! It’s hard to find goth events (in the U.S at least) but don’t shy away from other alternative events. You’ll see a lot of goths at punk and metal events, and they are a lot of fun! I’ve found some cool punk, metal, and goth events on Facebook, so keep an eye out. If all fails, nothing wrong with a solo cemetery walk!
@@pennywisethedancingclown2702 I definitely am quite a melting pot of different subcultures. Metal music was quite the gateway drug into alternative music for me. Since goth gigs are hard to come by for me metal gigs are as close as I get.
VampiresAnDollhouses 101 yeah, it can be tough, but not impossible. I was so bummed out because there was a goth event but it was 21+ only. The universe payed me back because Peter Murphy is coming to Florida, and I have tickets! Goth is hard to find, but it’s extra special when you find something. I recommend getting the app Songkick, you can track bands and it sends you notifications when tickets are on sale.
VampiresAnDollhouses 101 - Being a babybat can be pretty tough, especially depending on where you live. Manson is not a bad place to start as he is definitely a phase of the culture. I was lucky enough to see Switchblade Symphony in the 90's before they broke up. Older Rasputina is good which you may have heard of already since they did a collab with MM back in the day. I am not sure what you have available to you, but as you grow and become more familiar with your likes and dislikes, don't discount trying to put something together on your own or with a couple of like-minded people in the area. That is part of the DIY too, it doesn't have to work just for clothing, etc. :) Also, you don't want to discount what other people are in to such as nu goth, pastel goth...it may not be for you, but it works for others and we don't want to discredit something because it isn't what we resonate with ourselves. This is what mainstream media does to keep things obscure so you don't want to unwittingly contribute. You want to embrace it, these other branches of goth are simply distant relatives but you don't have to visit them if you don't want to. :) This video shows that there are current/new bands that are still making great music, it just takes some research. Start with certain record labels like Projekt and Dais records for more current music. Keep goth alive and moving forward babybat! You are our hope for Goth to live on in the future! ^@^
Still in Halloween mode playing Bauhaus and London After Midnight a lot while walking in park, lol. Should give Red party a look next to old Bank club as they still do a monthly show with decent crowd of 100 or so at Mercury Lounge. This weekend VNV Nation at Irving Plaza, with after party goth dance in midtown with Father Jeff from Bank days
Thank you so much for this list! I was looking for some new sounds to vibe too! And also, you look totally awesome! Eye shadow for lipstick is a great idea!
Just because everything is changing, (in terms of trends) doesn't mean EVERYBODY should. People don't have to adapt to how society wants them to be today. They can like old music if they want.
I too am stuck on like the same 5 bands for like decades. I'm now exploring more music this past year. My ex was a huge goth in the scene so I've grown to like most her stuff. Much of what you've mentioned.
Thank you so much for this video! I am in love with some of these bands and songs you shared- completely new to me before watching this video! New music yay!!!!! Thank you so, so much!!!
One of my favorites is The Last Dance who were active from the 90’s to the early 2000’s; I believe that they can be classified as Dark wave. In late 2000’s Sydney we had a local band, Familia which I thought were the bees knees; sadly I’ve not been able to find their stuff online to share but I have their CDs. As for goth bands of today I love Sounds Like Winter... they’re local so I try to support them as much as I can.
Second! Personally I listen to Voltaires albums since he's consistently making music also MCR, siouxsie and the banshees, Mötorhead, The Cure, this way to the Egress, Tragic Tantrum Cabaret... 90's was great for goth and punk. Personally I love the old and new because without growth our genre our artist lives die. Toxic purists put a pressure on baby bats effectively shutting them out of the experience of GOTH... P.S. May the darkness envelop our lives and make you shine. P.S.S - I got into goth through punk and metal also in defiance of my father's obsession with American Country music... And I don't regret a damn thing.
I was also a metal head, thrash, punk and hard rock die hard. There were certain songs though like The Cures " Pictures of You" that straight fucking slapped me upside the soul so I learned to open my ears a little more. Although I'm not a goth music guy I'm open to whatever someone puts in front of me which is why I watch this channel. I still can't stomach country though, lol. That's a bitter godamn pill.
Nine Inch Nails is still touring (and I’m extremely jealous of whomever was able to see Trent Reznor this time!!!) I also love the “sound” of goth industrial 90s music; I think this is how I first connected with your channel and love your romantic aesthetic!! 🖤
Until recently , I was never interested in the Goth scene ; nor did I know anything about Goth music or its culture . I have always just been a very open minded person . That being said , your channel captured my interest and made me curious to learn more about the Goth subculture . I really appreciate your most recent post because it provides a very in depth focus on both 90's bands and current bands . I like that you don't just say such & such is a cool song or they're a really great band-- kind of c---p ! No ! You are very articulate. and explain exactly why you like something or don't . Creatively , you are very sure-footed in knowing what you like and why you like it . Now I will have to explore the list you provided and take my own journey . Thanks Angela for all your information & personal insights . Vic
I got to see She Past Away earlier this year in a tiny club in Glasgow and they were incredibly good. They were so nervous beforehand but they brought the house down and were quite surprised by the reaction. They were supported by the excellent Selofan.
Goth shall rise again!!👿😈👿😈👿😈👿😈👿😈👿😈👿😈👿😈👿👹👹👹👹👹👹👹💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀l always thought it was about the music, not just appearance. Without the music, Goth wouldn't be. I love the looks too.👹👿😈👺👹👿😈👺👹👿😈👺👹👿😈👺👹👿😈
I found out about Drab Majesty through The Smashing Pumpkins. They have a new album out. And they put out this Halloweeny video for the song Silvery Sometimes(Ghosts) and Drab Majesty appears in the video. The video is really interesting so check it out.
Thank you wonderful Angela for this very good music tipps. I fell instantly in love with - her dispair "Blaspheme With Me" - and bought the song on amazon. Nice video ,great song and the singer has a phantastic voice! Let's see if there is more for me in your music tipps.
Excellent recommendations, some of my current favorites and some new loves seem to be on the way. I'm getting Suspiria vibes from Her Despair and I am here for it
Ahhh, I loved those clips that you had shared, Angela! Also, I kinda know what you mean-- even though I was born in '99, I was kinda raised in a weird time portal where everything that I grew up with was hand-me-downs from my much older brother, so everything I had was '90's era essentially. Nice to learn some more modern bands to check out, and to see your perspective growing up and in the alternative scene in general! ^^
I will always love souxie souxe, her sound is what drew me into the goth world. But London after midnight with that sensual but aggressive vocals are just powerful and amazing. Love your channel, it has really helped me out as not really a baby bat but not an elder either. Thank you so much :)
I wish someone would put a book together than lists every single goth band that's around since it's debut in the 80's. I think it'd help a lot of baby bats and also just be an awesome book to own. XD OMG I found one of the bands in this list by accident before this video!
That point about drab majesty and frozen autumn hitting you in that area I feel exactly what you mean My first time hearing those two bands It's almost as if it unlocked a part of soul i didn't even realize was there As cheesy as it sounds, that's the only way I could possibly explain it.
Love this rant! I’m a baby bat, but actually growing a bit more now as a goth since I’ve been involved in the scene 2 years now and still going strong! I love 80s synth goth music! Stuff with a good bass music being heard! Atmospheric goth music! Drab Majesty is on my playlist, the Lords of the New Church is on there, a variety of different goth tracks are on my playlist. I don’t tend to listen to specifically one band. I do like Siouxsie and the Banshees and Sisters of Mercy and they were the ones who got me into goth music ironically! Thank you for this video!
Ugh, I’ve been sad about my local goth club closing. I never even got to go because it was 21+ and I turn 21 next year at the beginning of the year. I think it’s hard to keep the scene going as it used to be when you’re young and don’t really have the money for a venue to hold goth nights at. I really wish I had been there for the goth scene in the 90s. Christian Death was also the band that got me into goth. Spiritual Cramp, Romeo’s distress, and figurative theater. When I heard those I was like this is it, this is what I’ve been looking for.
Seriously thank you for this. So much of this flew under the radar for many of us 80s goth kids -- no thanks to being distracted by the shiny colorful groovy objects of the 90s.
I do love how enthusiastically you talk about the 80s and 90s goth scene it's very nostalgic and inspiring every time watch one of your videos I get so nostalgic for the 90s that's when I was introduced to the goth scene but I also had friends who were originally punked so I got to experience that too oh, thank you for making these videos
I really have to thank you so much for this video! I feel like we're in a similar boat musically. I didn't come into the scene for bauhaus and it took me a long time to like them. I came into the scene with London after midnight and inkubus sukkubus. I felt like music like that was hard to find in the subculture after doing more research only to find stuff like Christian death and alien sex fiend. Thank you thank you thank you!
Oh my goodness, back when I first got into goth I got into it via post punk; though, I just couldn't get into much industrial and dark wave. This video reminded me to go revisit some of the old stuff I didn't particularly care for (considering my music taste has evolved since), and thank you for that! Currently jamming out haha
That is the same with Blackmetal with a Goth influence because of the dark aesthetic, such as Into The Pandemonium by Celtic Frost. We also have Goth style in the vocals of Mercyful Fate. Than there is Suicidal BM with a Industrial and Goth influence like with Bethlehem. Blut Aus Nord is very dark and atmospheric as well. I was like this until l fell in love with a Goth who educated me. Also props to you educating me on this channel. I am not here to be a know it all because there is a lot to learn when we struggle to work and survive.
OMG! KMFDM! I love that band's music! Haven't heard a song that I don't like, even those I don't necessarily 'love' I'm on board with. It is my perfect daily drive!
Maybe this is not considered "classic" goth, but I highly recommend the duo ISON. They have two EPs: "Cosmic Drone" and "Andromeda Skyline". All of it can be found here on TH-cam. I am sure many of you will like these atmospheres a lot. Especially, when you are all about atmosphere! :) And for all the melanchoholics, go check out Hearts of Black Science

Ps: This comment is at all. :)
exactly!! they are moving the subculture forward in a way!! I think it’s best to respect them and make sure they are educated :)
Agreed! I think it's either a matter of people being stubborn or flat out not looking.
Kaelan Mikla, VR Sex, Hante., Sólveig Matthildur 🖤
I have to admit that I've only listened to a few of the bands you mentioned, but I think that the ones I am familiar with are mostly just reviving old genres. I LOVE CHELSEA WOLFE SO MUCH HER DISCOGRAPHY IS SO DIVERSE
She Past Away is absolutely phenomenal. I hope they tour the States.
Switchblade Symphony was active in the 90s and that alone is enough to make the 90s a legitimate time for music
/end shameless SBS plug
Love for Tina Root
My absolute favorite band.

Adam💯you have a great taste in music🥀🖤🥀😁

Yes! It's something the ears have to be trained into in order to appreciate. I still love Industrial
Have you considered making a Spotify playlist? I would repeat the shit out of it 😂
This should definitely happen!!
Oh yeah I agree!!!🖤🖤🖤💀

Hi there,
Another new band I'd really recommend is *Boy Harsher* !
I just can't get enough of their music and they just released a new song called "Face the Fire". Really worth checking out.
Boy Harsher are awesome! I especially love their songs "Pain" and "Morphine".
They are fantastic! You excited for their new album coming out?
Tiffany Frederick very excited! I'm going to see them live next year
@@sachadcx I'm super jealous!! It seems like they are staying on the East side of the US then hopping overseas. :( makes me sad. Haha.
You should check out The Kentucky Vampires too! They just dropped an album 11/17 that's jammable all the way through

Nothing is more relaxing than listening to Goth music.
It's the relaxation of the grave
You know about so much music, it's mental. I haven't heard any other goth youtuber go into this much depth.
That's because the majority of the other TH-camrs are posers.
Thank you for always having a positive attitude and making videos like this. It's like having a distant older goth sibling telling me what to keep an eye out for :D
I always discover great Goth bands thanks to you! Never disappointed. 🙏
Angela I love watching your videos. I learn a lot about the goth subculture I think goths are awesome and admire their confidence to express their individuality
Seeing your authentic choice for music is so satisfying, It's been a pleasure to see you back Angela, So much love.
Thank you, Taki! Good to be back.
Jolene Siana is on Facebook. Go Ask Ogre might be getting made into a movie!
She past away and Lebanon Hanover ♥
Bonnie Thomas Lebanon Hanover seems like the old days to me, and I mean that as the highest praise. They are brave, and talented.
The compilation was named "The new face of goth" and I just really wanted to know more about what goth really is.
cleopatra records had great comp cds
I have this CD, and still listen to it often. It's one of my favorites.
Love the music in this video! I'm an industrialhead trying to get more into goth, definitely going to check out all the bands mentioned. I'm a frequent shopper at Dais records (especially their Coil releases) so was glad to hear someone giving recognition
They're great!
And while I enjoy listening to, and learning about, breaking music down in to its various categories, I find I now just listen indiscriminately and just...enjoy. thanks!
Thank you for the great video again, Angela 🤗 She Passed Away 💓 going to see them in a few weeks 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
P.S. you’re adorable and I love you hun. Keep up the great work.
there's so much new stuff tho, that kinda just scratching at it, but whoa someone is talking about the new stuff!!! thanks a million
How was the concert??
I love Drab Majesty, Lebanon Hanover, and She Past Away 🖤 I've also discovered Ritual Howls, Keluar, Figure Study, The Agnes Circle, and All Your Sisters, have you heard them?
I love that you mentioned Them Are Us Too. I'm a trans woman and seriously resonate with that band. RIP CASH ASKEW
I love your music tastes angela benedict!. I have a few bands myself and uh.... some you already know but i can recommend you some since your description tells me that I can so here we go!
1- Red Lorry Yellow Lorry
2- Cassandra Complex
3- Linea Aspera
4- OTO
5- Danse Society
6- Ash Code
7- Agnes circle
8- She Wants Revenge
9- The Frozen Autumn
10- Velvet Condom
I hope this comment reaches you quickly enough.

Always super appreciate new music reccomendations! I knew about Drab Majesty but the others were new to me and I am loving them all! Thank you!
*Hello, I'm so happy that you did this!! I am ALWAYS, ALWAYS looking for new bands to listen to. I love the whole 90's/80's bands like this! Thank you very much!! And, btw, you're so pretty too.*
Yes some one who actually recognizes that the 90s had awesome music. Haha thought I was alone. And yes goth music like vampires will never die🦇
The 90s had the best Goth music, in my opinion.
That's awesome! They're so good live. I love that you're so passionate about the scene, I love to see how many people still have that fire.
@@angelabenedict Thank you that means a lot. :3
I like that band.
@@pennywisethedancingclown2702 Thanks for the Songkick app info and good advice.
I love goth music but you have helped me to find even more bands to listen to. Thanks so much, Angela.
I'm on bed rest at the moment so keep re-watching your videos! you make post surgery much more bareable :)
I'm sorry to hear that but happy to know I can help. How are you feeling?
+Angela Benedict wow you replied to my comment :) yeah it was just jaw surgery. like I said your videos and hammer films make it bareable.
U look bomb, love the distressed shirt!!! And I love Lebanon Hanover omg
Still in Halloween mode playing Bauhaus and London After Midnight a lot while walking in park, lol. Should give Red party a look next to old Bank club as they still do a monthly show with decent crowd of 100 or so at Mercury Lounge. This weekend VNV Nation at Irving Plaza, with after party goth dance in midtown with Father Jeff from Bank days
....include in SwitchBlade Symphony, and Faith and the Muse....that was my big play leading up into Halloween, hehe!
Thank you so much for this list! I was looking for some new sounds to vibe too!
And also, you look totally awesome! Eye shadow for lipstick is a great idea!
The World is changing, we have to change with it, that means that while the past must be respected we cannot live in it .
Just because everything is changing, (in terms of trends) doesn't mean EVERYBODY should. People don't have to adapt to how society wants them to be today. They can like old music if they want.
Excellent post and spot on that the 80s & early 90s era compilations helped expose the music.
The Last Dance was great! ❤️
@@CobwebsandCandlesticks you guys should try gothic folk like Voltaire, ledfoot and folk punk like days n daze, harley poe, the bridge city sinners.
@@Nell-r0se I love Voltaire and his channel, I just pre ordered his new album coming out in January!

Thank you for sharing! I'm currently listening to Ministry so I really need some new recommendations.
Nine Inch Nails is still touring (and I’m extremely jealous of whomever was able to see Trent Reznor this time!!!) I also love the “sound” of goth industrial 90s music; I think this is how I first connected with your channel and love your romantic aesthetic!! 🖤
My sister got to go to Woodstock 94 and said they were amazing!
I love everything that comes out of your mouth.
I literally love everything about Ashlyn from her presence and movements to her look! Great choice. R.I.P. Cash 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Goth shall rise again!!👿😈👿😈👿😈👿😈👿😈👿😈👿😈👿😈👿👹👹👹👹👹👹👹💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀l always thought it was about the music, not just appearance. Without the music, Goth wouldn't be. I love the looks too.👹👿😈👺👹👿😈👺👹👿😈👺👹👿😈👺👹👿😈

YESSSSSS! There's so much good modern goth music right now! You've given me a couple good new bands to check out.
XD
OMG I found one of the bands in this list by accident before this video!
Also I seriously miss sample CDs! They were awesome!

Nitzer Ebb and Front 242 yesssss but I also loved Depeche Mode, Siouxsie and the Cure so yes who cares if it’s all good!!
Thank you for showing me new great bands to listen to. Never heard of Kuta and Her Despair before but they're so awesome :)
Thanks for the recommendations! I would suggest putting more song clips closer to the beginning of the video.
I listen to and love most of the bands you've talked about. Definitely people would benefit from hearing those
That point about drab majesty and frozen autumn hitting you in that area
I feel exactly what you mean
My first time hearing those two bands It's almost as if it unlocked a part of soul i didn't even realize was there
As cheesy as it sounds, that's the only way I could possibly explain it.
The Sexy Plague is my new favorite way of describing that particular sound
drab majesty opened for slowdive when i saw them recently.. i fell in absolute adoration with them.
Thank you for highlighting SRSQ! She's amazing.
I love your taste in music. Thanks for sharing the new sounds.
Glad you like it!
I'm so happy you like them. Thank you!
@@angelabenedict I mean how could you not like them? they're Fifty Shades of Awesome!!.... sorry I have a weird sense of humor...
Thanks for sharing. I really loved your selection of music, they're really good 🧛🏾🎼🧛🏾🎼🧛🏾🎼🧛🏾
Oh my goodness, back when I first got into goth I got into it via post punk; though, I just couldn't get into much industrial and dark wave. This video reminded me to go revisit some of the old stuff I didn't particularly care for (considering my music taste has evolved since), and thank you for that! Currently jamming out haha
Love the video queen Angela, goth will never die to me🖤💜💙❣🖤
That is the same with Blackmetal with a Goth influence because of the dark aesthetic, such as Into The Pandemonium by Celtic Frost.
Awesome video! Thank you! The 90’s are coming baaaaack
It's really crazy to see but it's true!
90’s makeup is coming back and I’m buying all of it lol
Thanks to you now I've found a bunch of new music to listen to! ♥
i always appreciate all the new bands you recommend.
OMG!
