I'm really happy I stumbled on this video back when I was learning the basics. It really helped me understand Tetris better. I would like to add something that I don't think was mentioned in the video - skimming (performing singles, doubles or triples) and leaving holes in the stack will mess up the parity too. You can fix it back with a well-placed T-piece. Boards with unbalanced parity tend to be very bumpy and piece-dependent.
Watching you flat stack satisfies my brain. It's just so nice to see a flat stack for some reason lol. I've been learning Tetris for like 2 weeks now , although still struggling and learning haha :p ty for the video :)
this is the most useful videos i ever seen. i was struggling before this video, now i got my 1st win in tetris 99 thanks i know u wont see this but thank you
Can't say I understand how you're explaining "parity" here in tetris. Is it like when you end up with so many "spokes" that only fit S pieces, and there's no clean spot to place a Z piece? I would argue that's an issue with planning ahead than this checkerboard pattern you are alluding to.
It means that you are limiting the available combinations. The bigger your parity error, the bigger the chance you can't stack flat or leave many wells
It's not an issue with planning. If your board state has maintained parity (equal distribution of minos across a checkerboard pattern) then once a t piece is placed it disrupts this no matter what. Best example is in c4w on the side stacks. When you place a t piece flat side down on a flat stack, you can now only place limited amounts of pieces. No matter what you do, you can only place an s/z and i on that stack until you place another t piece which fixes this. This is due to the concept of parity, and that t pieces change the balance as it covers 3 black squares and 1 white (and vice versa). Check the harddrop wiki for this, there's a really good page explaining parity.
I hope you still reply, just to inform you, i play tetris effect sprint mode. A list of things I cant do: utilising the previews: Most of the time im so concentrated on not fucking up my stack that i fuck it up due to paying no attention to the 4 preview windows I have. Flat stacking: This is strongly tied to the first thing but when i do pay attention to keep an eye on my previews, i usually fuck upcsome way or another. Playing fast: Idk what is up with playing fast but i know that you can ads or das or whatever its called, basically holding the button, but I don't know when to tap and when to hold in order to place it correctly, also tied to playing faster is Fast thinking: When i try to think fast to place my pieces faster, i usually hesitate and begin to misplace the next 3-6 pieces and then proceed to commit unalive. So basically, everything you can do wrong, i will do wrong. I mean I have a badic understanding, i mean i know how to double and triple t-spin and know a t spun factory wich i can hardly hold for long and a one wide side stacking method where you basically only clear collums with tetrises. i can also only hold it for a certain amount of time. I really wish for help, i would be glad to get myself a coach but no one i know plays tetris.
For everyone who is confused about the "black and white matrix", when he talks about parity. He is not refering to what you actually see on screen rather than this: harddrop.com/wiki/Parity
@@want-diversecontent3887 there could be problems as it runs in openGL, I sugest trying the ZIP from their github page (here: github.com/nullpomino/nullpomino/releases ) and also updating your graphic card drivers.

Yo, you totally sound Salad Fingers.
I hate how accurate this comment is😤🤣🤣🤣💯
I'm using this so that I can get through Puyo Puyo Tetris lol. My building skills suck.
Also, this video gave me ASMR.
I also found this video for puyo puyo Tetris and your pfp is the first anime I ever watched
this video is so calming, the flat stacking, the voiceover, the keyboard, ahhhhhhhhhh
Are you a cuber
^^^^ I second this qn. You're using lots of cubing terminology like "edges" on the T piece and "parity" LOL!
@@TaroLeButcher well really there's no other way to describe the edges other than arms, and parity is a concept used in tetris as well so probably not
Same thoughts
nice are you a cuber
Lol I was gonna comment this
I am an absolute beginner but the two T piece strategy seems easy and useful. I am going to try this in my next run. Thanks a lot. :)
My name is derric and I like this video

Your voice is so soothing thanks for this tutorial
As someone that got into Tetris watching the CTWC, where there could be 35 long I piece droughts, 1 preview and no holds... well... enough said
Your voice is so soft I actually fell asleep to it
I'd love a sound pack based on this video

Thanks, I understand parity now
Yes this is generally how Tetris is played
HOW DO YOU KEEP IT RELATIVELY FLAT
I found out i do this subconsciously

So you can find your on patterns if you're comfortable with it right.
This video really improved my skill. Even though the pps is much lower the score and time is higher
Hi :) what program do you use?
Slipppy Looks like “Nullpomino”
I can't see the black and white grid you're talking about
It’s hypothetical
where did you find information on this grid parody, I would love to find more on it
Look up tetris parity
When he said parity I thought 4x4 and square 1 parity

Which version of Tetris are you using? + Can you t-spin in it
he's using nullpomino, a free tetris game you can download by just searching for it. And it does have T-spin support
@@ThaManWithTheHat Thanks!
ManWithHat
I downloaded nullpomino, isn’t working for some reason.
@@want-diversecontent3887 Working on my side..

My Tetris best scores a whole bunch of scores
what do you meam by "black and white" when there is no such color on screem
Well you don’t necessarily have to have bumps. You just have to make the Z/S piece work for your advantage.
I need strategy for like beginner beginner like i just started playing yesterday lol
HOW THE FUCK ARE SO FAST!
what verson of tetris is he playing
nullpomino
u sound like grian
MasterDisaster lol ye
What Tetris game is this?
what game is he practicing on?
nico ataiza nullpomino
Big
I don't understand how you won't be able to fit the right pieces if you don't place a certain block together
At around 8:20 you determined you had a parity error. How did you determine that?
If you call it "Zed" then you should stop playing Tetris
and why, more than half of the planet says zed. technically you are the odd one out
So basically, anyone who doesn't speak like you shouldn't play Tetris.
If someone calls it zed it means they're Australian/british or other countries that say zed.
