The lucky deal you mentioned for the contract of nulgath, yeah actually it can drop from anyone (bosses), i got it once from one of the voids..yeah it's rarely, but definitely it can drop from any of the bosses in wasteland.
I'd prefer taking unidentified essence quest from Crag because it have diamond of nulgath and 2 dark crystal gems as a reward. It takes a little bit of luck to get it and you can exchange it with Bamboozle for the contract. You can also exchange it with Skew for 9 dark crystal gems which is an okay amount. The collecting dirt quest is a bit of hassle because you have to fight Noxus 50 times just for a diamond and 2 dark crystal gems.
I’d say my biggest problem with nulgath as a whole is too much farming for very little reward the fiend wizard armor in the oversoul it just cheaper version of that one in the catacombs
to be honest i didnt have so much trouble with the contract as i always get mine from the lady luck strike quest when farming in the void. what i have troubles its with the diamond. could get the shards from hunting dragon fiends kind in the wasteland, i guess server hoping would make it faster. noxus could be a good choice but 10 times for a part of the dirt bag needed for the quest..... seems like more work than going hunting dragon fiends. i could try the one where you trade void scraps after all i would need a lot of phoenix rune for some parts of the phoenix knight armor. But yeah diamonds are the pain here.

What’s the quickest way to get dark crystal shards? That has to be the most annoying grind imo
