    It''ll be good to see how easily you learn to use this Open TX example, should help others to decide on what system to commit to. Also good to see the quality of support from manufacturer and getting help from forum community when needed.

    • @CliffHarveyRCPlanes

      The reason I went for this set Gary is simple, it works with most receiver makes, so I don't need to buy any more receivers, it's recommended to me by two of my flying buddies, the fact it's open source software and is always evolving and basically for it's price it's punching way above its weight. As for how easy it is to learn, I've watched a couple of videos online and it's no different to most modern tx's, of course it has it's own way of doing things so it's just a matter of rethinking how to input things into the memory. As explained to me by my buddies you can make it as complicated or simple as you like ... I'll go with the latter, cheers.

      @@CliffHarveyRCPlanes I've read that at least one of the Open TX systems has a "basic" setup like traditional systems or you can go on and make Open TX adaptations a hobby in itself for FPV, etc. I use an "antique" Hitec Aurora 9 system with Optima receivers. Hitec has stopped production of RC systems so mine and later Aurora 9X systems are now "orphans". I have enough Optima receivers for all of my models and can still buy some old stock and used receivers. Hitec claims that they can repair transmitters but can't get parts for receivers. People are selling "like new" used Aurora transmitters and receivers on RC Groups and Ebay.

    Woohoo Cliff! Mine will be in next week. I hope the protocols work as I have viewed on TH-cam. It will keep me busy all winter setting up my 40 planes! I have been using FlySky and have never lost a plane like I did on Spektrum. Hope it works as well. Spent my allowance for Christmas!

    • @CliffHarveyRCPlanes
      @CliffHarveyRCPlanes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ricky once you set up one aeroplane type you can just copy it and alter the parameters slightly. You can set up global functions that apply to every aeroplane by assigning them to any switch you like on the transmitter. So so in fact it doesn't take very long to do all your aeroplanes although I'm just doing them one aeroplane at a time as I fly them 👍

  • @EssentialRC
    @EssentialRC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Its the smart choice these days and not just because its 1/5th the price of the premium radios. Can be used with so many protocols which have much cheaper receivers. In a recent poll of my channel 70% of nearly 1000 votes preferred it as their next radio. Bye bye Spektrum, Futaba, JR, Jeti and Powerbox.

    • @CliffHarveyRCPlanes
      @CliffHarveyRCPlanes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was one of those 70%, it has to make the big manufacturers a tad apprehensive about the future, perhaps they'll be forced to lower their prices ... if they can?

    • @EssentialRC

      @@CliffHarveyRCPlanes I don't see that happening Cliff. They are just too far away from Radiomaster and Frsky on price. They've had it good for too long. I push TX16S in all my review vids in the hope that new folks to the hobby don't get locked into one of the single protocol premium brands.
